good morning, 31 going to 53

Firing up the stove to get the chill out. Using the old ash bucket with the tilt lid seems more convenient than using the built in ash pan on the new stove

Mostly there is a 3/4 inch bow in the beam still to go. Lifting and also taking the bow out of the beam takes a lot of force

Talked to brother yesterday and learned a little more about his condition. Pretty bad shape with heart efficiency down to 15 to 20 percent

Good Morning
29° with a high of 50 forecast, yesterday’s howling wind has subsided into a gentle breeze for today. Clear sky.

While working in the boiler room, I discovered a cold breeze coming in, right where the water lines run, so I borrowed my buddy’s urethane applicator and foamed the questionable areas.
Did a bit of blacksmith work on my fireplace grate, mounted the battery ignition unit on the gas grill, it had been inside dangling by its wires for almost a year. It’s a much better system than the piezo that it replaced. It was an Amazon buy, I think that it was a Weber replacement part.

Overall though, I’m impressed with how well the Lynx grill has held up so far. It’s about 25 years old and all the major parts, burners, grates, etc are still as good as new. I think that the new ones use hot surface igniters, but that requires 120v.

I considered running over to Drew’s to say hello to Dennis at the golf cart exchange, but had to be here to unload a grain delivery into the barn, which of course showed up about the same time Dennis was supposed to arrive at Drew’s.

Today’s project will be to install the timer on the hot water circulation, continue to clean up, have an airport authority meeting tonight to prepare for, and of course, the inevitable pop up tasks.

Morning all,
A nice crisp morning here of 26F supposed to get up to 40F and calling for 20F tonight. Seems early for these temps but it is mid November already. Not long till Thanksgiving day.

Going to be a somewhat busy day today, been helping my wife to spend a bunch of money, she has never been real happy with her Jeep Compass (doesn't surprise me) so today it's her last day with it.
Picking up her new 2025 Chevy Equinox EV this afternoon, have had some serious thoughts about getting an EV but it is her car which gets very low miles and often just sits for a several days at a time. But I never cared for that Compass either I always found it hard to get in and out of, this Equinox is much better that way and has a nice ride and very good acceleration. Not impressed with the very limited selection of tires offered with this car but the interesting thing about is that older GM small pickups and Blazers have the same small pattern rim a the new one does and I may have found a reasonably priced set of 18's for snow tires.

The thought of a morning fire would be nice these chilly mornings.

All stay safe and get well
Lou

not much planned for today, not used to that and it has to get above 50 before I work in garage, maybe after lunch.

Good morning, the low is 25 and going to a high of 39°F. Wind NNE 3 mph. Sunny!

When you lift a vehicle, in order to keep some resemblance of stability you need to widen the stance. You also need to use your one brain cell and NOT come racing up to a stop. I would hazard a guess that his brake pads/shoes were down to steel on steel if that is the way he drives all the time. If in fact his brakes did fail. We will probably never know because there was nobody else involved in his roll-over, there wont be much of an investigation. Jumping over the curb and turning right at the same time didn't help the situation at all. He will live and learn, maybe.

Today is an energy conservation day.

Have a safe day all

35 outside this AM, heading to lower 50's.

The car guy cancelled on the pickup, so we are attempting to get another date for that. Sort of sets everything back.

Not much on the to do list. Need to head out shortly for some work at a local Post Office. Then back to retired mode. LOL.

Should work on more cabinets today. Need to mount some on a wall. Already have a helper platform build and ready to go. Hopefully four 5 1/2 inch lag screws will hold it on the wall for the foreseeable future. Should be - interesting.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

Morning all. 33 going to 52 and sunny, dry.
First heavy frost last night, all the green tomatoes fell to the ground.

Mostly - prayers sent and glad you have so many good memories.

M7040 hope they can help your brother.

Talked to my brother for a while yesterday. He is still tired all the time, still thinks it's his heart.
Uncle is doing about the same, My father is still bed ridden and not eating.

Got my truck back, nothing too bad, probably could have handled myself, it's just i am busy with paperwork, day job and coordinating for old car pickup. I did go and get all the old papers and stuff removed. Once the pickup people call me I will drive over, remove the plate and collect the small check..Hopefully they show,

Be well,

I drove by to show my wife where you lived, but didn't want to pop in unannounced.
