Yup ... wouldn't doubt it for a minute ...

Nope ... never set foot in the place.
Billy, Dusty, and Frank would be more my kind of crowd ...
But I did live right off Red Bluff, just down the road a bit ...![]()
I remember sitting in the La Porte jail one night after getting off work at Oxirane ... and picking the cell door lock - for amusement - with my lock blade knife that I still had because the putzes didn't bother to pat me down or ask if I had any weapons ...I remember driving down Red Bluff and to my surprise, there was a local chapter building of the KKK in the early '80's. And I was brave enough to shop at the huge Fedmart with a black friend...or was it crazy enough? Anyhow, we both survived.

... mid to late 70's ...
I managed to survive ... which was a minor miracle, considering the slop they were serving for food ...![]()
Not really ... although that little episode would have played a part in any contempt I might have for (certain) "things down south" (and things elsewhere for that matter) ... and (so-called) "law enforcement" generally ...I think they converted the jail into the animal shelter/compound. It wasn't a very good stop for the animals either.
I now know why you have such contempt for things down south.
Really ?1 more thing, there are no putzes down here unless they are displaced northerners.
