Good morning!!!!

I had put a game cam up on my front porch more than a year ago to catch a bear wrecking my feeders. Never got the bear but...
I did find my drunken farmer neighbor out for a ride over my front lawn...lovely. I just got back from his house, doing a Christmas good deed by fixing his hugely potholed lane, for the second time. Glad I didn't see this pic until I got home...but it was over a year ago. I'm surprised that Farmall ran, usually sits in his lawn.
Otherwise all I got were over 2000 pics of me riding around on the lawn mower and surprisingly going in and out the lane, plus every UPS van too. Took almost 3000 pics before it ran out of juice.
Oh, two deer and one racoon. Surprisingly, the squirrels did not trip it.

Beautiful lawn

Good thing he had the 3 point up

Your neighbor did you a favor when he didn't drop the plow and drag it all the way across your lawn. Your good deed today was just really late payback:laughing: Now think how guilty he feels with you being so nice to him after pulling that stunt. But probably not.:confused3:

Really nice photo though. What kind of camera (make and model) is it?

They say it's hard to soar with eagles when you work with turkeys.

Well this here baldie didn't seem to be having any trouble keepin' up with the buzzards. Didn't seem to be happy about it though, with all the twitterin' and screechin' goin' on. Caught this clowin' overhead yesterday as I was gettin' ready to head into town. Not bad for a phone pic.

It's a joyous time of year for most but also a time of loved ones passing away.
The top two months for folks passing away are January and December.
An emotional time, mostly for the good. But it's when I remember who isn't with me any more.
And count my blessings for those who are.

Beautiful lawn

Good thing he had the 3 point up

thanks. The funny thing is that his primary tractor is a first gen JD, 21 something, 45 hp diesel, in clapped out condition, all the tin is missing, fuel pump doesn't leak, it gushes diesel down the side, and the hydraulics are shot such that his 3 point just floats, won't pick up at all. Doesn't bother him, he just drags a large heavy chisel plow around the yard like that. Now we are talking two acres of what was once lawn and now is a sea of boneyard junk. Dozens of old lawn mowers, nothing works, never threw anything away, just piled it up on the lawn. I took some pictures today and need to go find that camera, of his lawn and all this ancient farm equipment piled everywhere. And I had to get my Kubota through it to the other side to get the dirt for his driveway. A genuine obstacle course.
So yeah, he might drag his chisel plow over here, hopefully not down my paved driveway

I had just reseeded the area he was driving on. The part closest to the house...

I wrote this a few years ago for an article in a newsletter, not sure if I ever posted it here.

Is there any adult that can honestly say that they wouldn't love to wake up Christmas morning and for just an hour you were eight years old, your mom and dad and brothers and sisters were there. The package with the Fanner 50 in it ready to open, mom in the kitchen starting the turkey, dad packing his pipe with Cherry Blend and watching the fun. The smell of the cedar tree, the wood stove smoke drifting past the windows half covered in frost, the excitement as thick as the fake snow sprayed on everything. Just for an hour...

Great story, Randy.

Good Morning! 45 F @ 5:30AM. Rain likely. High 41F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 100%.

Buckeye, when I cleaned up the saw I have for sale I reread the operator's manual, and it recommended basic carb settings. I used those and now it seems to start a bit easier, but then I haven't run it out of fuel as I usually do for storage. Not too worried, as it has E0 with Stabil in it for good measure, and I hope it's gone soon, but maybe some reading and carb tweaking will help with your starting problems?

And speaking of chainsaws, the cap Stihl uses locks down in only half a turn. But if the cap isn't all the way in before it's turned, it can appear to be sealed when it's not. If you're in a hurry, or tired, or don't see well, the first hint you may get that all is not right with the world is a sticky bar oil mess. I like the new caps a lot more than the fine thread on my old 031. They were easy to cross thread, which led to the same leaking problem, and sometimes it took a new cap to fix the leak. The old cap also didn't have the string thingy and was also a lot easier to lose in the grass and weeds.

TGIF gang!

Redneckgeek, I missed it I think. What saw are you selling? I'm watching for one to complement my Stihl MS250.

That reminds me ... I put up a camera in the barn about a month ago to catch my gas thief. I need to check that tomorrow.

Have a great weekend, gentlemen (and ladies).

Cold rain greeted me this morning when I stepped outside. In the rays from the outside spotlight, it looks white, so I'll have to count that as our white Christmas Eve. 39 going to 51, so don't think it will change to snow.

Never got out of the 40s yesterday, so cut down two trees for firewood, and cleared some brushy trees from around one of our sugar maples. The new box I built for the carry all worked great for a very heavy load of rounds, headed to the splitter.

Reading toppops article is a great start to Christmas Eve. Thanks Randy.

That sounds really nice! Never happened in my house when I was a kid, but I wouldn't mind an hour of that on Sunday at all.

Oh RNG, that is so sad. I'm sure many of us would have happily shared our Colts with you. Sweat dreams tonight. At least nowadays you can swap more stories of big boys toys :)

When I was a child, American made toys were unknown to most where I lived in the UK. Fortunately for me, I had a very generous aunt living in LA and every year she would parcel up several toys. The Hubley Colt 45 she sent over one year (like this Vintage Cap Guns, Hubley Colt 45 - YouTube, 15 seconds in )was the envy of many boys on our street. Doubt that it would make it through our border x-ray scanners nowadays !

Could hardly believe what happened yesterday, when I switched off the electric fence and pulled out the stakes to reposition it close by the house to give the sheep some really nice grazing over Christmas. By the time I had walked out 200 yards and back again a defiant looking lamb was standing by the energizer and stamped on the ground as I walked up. As I got closer I could see a yellow wire, lying in two pieces on the grass - the little *&*!*+&* had gone and chewed clean through the HT lead !

Eric, I hope you explained what mutton and lamb chops are to that juvenile delinquent lamb!

Never seen a Hubley Colt...that is an awesome toy gun.

Good morning all, 39 going to 54 and 100% chance of rain today. Have a little over 1/10 in the gauge and calling for up to 1/4 more. Going to a wife's family Christmas get together today. Will be a somber event. Her youngest brother that has stayed away from the family died Thursday so it will be more of a wake than a party. Last time we saw him was 9 year ago at dad's funeral.

Hubley colt, If my dad had bought me a gun that cost that much it would have been able to put meat on the table.

Good news! Harbor Freight is opening a new store less than 2 miles from here and there might be a thing or two that I have had my eye on. :)

Have a great day. Ed

30 right now...looks like maybe an inch of snow this morning, then rain. High will be the upper 30's.

Eric, that is one cool cap pistol!!! I've never seen one like that Hubley either, although I did have cap pistols when I was a kid.

Good morning.
temp 28F shooting for a high of 34
winds dead calm
We got an inch of snow overnight. Exactly what was forecast.

Yesterday my neighbour with her totally impractical Toyota that sits 2" off the ground got stuck in the windrow the plow left. I was doing a bunch of running around in the morning so didn't get a chance to deal with it until about 2 P.M. Her boyfriend got her out. I scraped that driveway right down to the dirt. Get stuck now!

40 and raining so slightly. Brought the animals in, made sure they had their breakfast. One daughter is home, another "adopted" daughter came in last night, another is overseas, and the last is working. The one that is home leaves tonight with the friend.

This will be my first Christmas without the family. They are all grown up now. Wow, time has flown by.

The splitter is still down, barely runs on full choke. Not too much more I can do with it since it is not mine. I'll still leave a gift card since my friend refuses most anything else.

The maul works, just takes three times as long. LOL.

Merry Christmas all. Enjoy the next few days.

29F now mid 30's for high 1" so of snow rain mid day clearing before dust.

Plans for today...keep low profile and putter

Enjoy the day all.

warm morning, 48 going up to 61. Might get some of that rain going North of us, and it might miss us.
not much planned for today which means I'll be headed back down to the barn to keep working on my list.
Actually if it's not windy I should light off the burn pile first thing; got part of it to go yesterday but then it died out. So I took about three FEL bucket
loads of leaves and pine needles and dumped that on top. Good fire starter...which this fairly wet pile needs.

I honestly know nothing about these things, and yes, the night pictures were all bright and washed out.
Day time pics were remarkably sharp. Far away and right up close, watching my first helper, the young felon, weedeat along my front hedge. Boy did he look out of it. And that's why he had to go.

35° and raining. So close to a white Christmas.

I still have an old cap gun, still at my dad's. Not sure the brand. No orange tip.
