42F this morning, headed for a high of "only" 59 with little wind and overcast skies. Chance of rain tomorrow but little or no accumulation. What a tease.

Funny thing happened yesterday. Was trying to eat breakfast and had trouble keeping food in my mouth, and bit my right cheek a couple times. Things got more interesting on the way into town when my right eye started watering and I had trouble blinking. Pulled over and called my GP, he wasn't there and the nurse tells me to head to the ER to get checked out. Hardly any wait, and the doc says it's not a stroke. So I relax a little bit while he goes out to look something up. Comes back a few minutes later and says he's pretty sure I have something called Bell's Palsey. It's caused by inflammation of a nerve that controls my facial muscles on the right side. Fixes me up with a couple of new prescriptions and sends me on my way, all in less than an hour. On the way out the door a nurse hands me a roll of paper bandage tape and a referral to an ophthalmologist. It seems the watery eye is due to the lid not blinking, and if I don't tape the eye shut when I sleep it may dry out and damage the cornea. So taped the thing shut last night and today I'll see about another appointment. As if I don't have enough trouble sleeping already. Anyway, with a little luck it'll clear up in a few weeks, so in the mean time I'll just have to get used to chewing more carefully and using eye drops.

Ugh, what next?

about 100 miles north of us, it is snowing.

Good thing I'm only 15 miles North of you - it's cold enough at 34˚, cloudy, north wind at 2mph, and only warming up 10 degrees today. This is about 15˚ below our norm.

Redneckgeek - why do things happen to us when we get older? My MIL had the same thing - every once in a while she would have a crooked smile.

My Dad's water leak is fixed. Yea! I did it the way I wanted to this time - the hard way - I dug up 20 feet, raised the PVC up, used a regular coupling and pushed it down and together. The county water meter was sitting up at a slight angle and his 1 1/4 PVC pipe was sitting down at a slight angle which cause pressure on the pipe and the weak spot before. This time I used a 10' piece of 3/4 PVC coming away from the valve allowing for a slight curve with no pressure on the threaded PVC at the valve.

The Acurite weather station tech group helped me with the problem of too bright of a display. http://www.acurite.com/media/catalog/product/0/1/01512-display-front-800x800_4.jpg
The geniuses there said at night just unplug it. That was easy - it continues to operated (on the back-up batteries) and the readings are still visible without any bright back-up light.

Since the outdoor weather station is located about 70 feet from the house- away from the pavers, I am getting temperature readings closer to what the official weather stations are reporting - which is about 4˚ colder and warmer than my other weather pod. I'm sure everyone is ecstatic about the new accuracy of the reporting central Texas morning temperatures!! :D

Good Morning. 0815, sunny, 39F with 86% humidity. Forecast high of 60F with 0% chance of rain, and a low of 42F. Looks like it's going to be a pretty day. I was thinking about dibbling in a few longleaf down toward the graveyard this morning before I go into work. We saved back 750 for the BIL to plant his skips in the trees he planted last year, and he doesn't need all of them. And my cousin from Rome Georgia has cleared a spot for a house on her land. Saying she is not my favorite cousin would be putting it mildly, so a few rows of trees between me and her would make a nice barrier. I will just pretend she isn't there.

You guys to the north stay safe and warm,

Larro

PS: I woke up in a David Allen Coe mood this morning. So if anyone else is in that mood......

Redneck hope you get well soon.
