I put the 72 cutter on last night and today I'm going to decapitate some burdock. Got to get out there before it gets too hot.

ISP's speed test program refused to run yesterday - my link was too slow!
This morning it gives :-

Not quite Ron's dizzy rates, however until others in the area go online later in the day, I could be watching a film while typing with one finger on TBN.:)

Was thinking of getting a pull behind string trimmer. So not very practical?

I bought their least expensive one and it just didn't perform well. You had to crawl along at very slow speed, and it missed some areas. Perhaps the heavier duty ones work better; frankly I'm sure they do. If I had miles of fence, labor rates were high, and I didn't want to use herbicides, the larger models might be a good solution. This is where having a very friendly dealer who will let you take one home and try it would be seriously helpful. If i had, I would not have bought mine. It's sitting in my barn gathering dust. suppose I should take it out and give it another try but two attempts left me unimpressed for a finished lawn appearance. Again, in a field, with a heavier model, it might be just the thing.

A pleasant Sunday morning to you all. I'm off to chop up a cantaloupe bought at the farmer's market yesterday.
That plus some peaches, strawberries, blueberries, apples and bananas will make a nice fresh fruit salad.
Still on host kitchen duty.

Very hot day again yesterday Car thermometer showed 103 at 2:00PM. Went on the beach till about 6:45 then shower and dinner in Georgetown. Trip home from dinner was wild thunder lightening and high winds till about 11:30 or so. One storm after another and very beautiful over the ocean. Today is clean up pack up and leave day. Five and half or six hour trip depending on traffic.

63 and feeling great outside with sunshine starting to warm things up after a cool rainy day yesterday with 1.79 inches.

Buppies, have a safe trip home.

Drew, cantaloupe sounds good. Almost tempting for me to drive to town and pick one up, since our garden isn't producing one yet.

Today will assemble the parts for the corn hole set that I finished sawing yesterday after the rain stopped.

The Yes Progeny box set also showed up yesterday, so listened to the Ottawa concert (first of seven recorded in '72 that are included in the set). Brought back some fond memories from that era. The recording quality was better than Yessongs from that same time, and the reviews say that other concerts in the set sound better. There's even a radio broadcast coming through Wakeman's Mellotron captured on tape, with Anderson telling the audience Rick will be playing a duet.

Hope you all have a great weekend, and that our travelers return home safely!

RNG, I was at the Yes concert with my best friend recorded live at Duke University in 1972. We were close to the audience microphones, so did a good bit of screaming between songs - so when the record came out, sure enough we could hear ourselves on it.

79 this morning and headed to 93 today. Well we made it home early this morning. We knew the 12 1/2 hours of driving (11 1/2 on clock thanks to the repeat of one hour )would turn into a longer day. With stops we expected to add about 2 hours. What we didn't account for is the 3+ hours of traffic delays. Turned an expected arrival of 10pm into a 1 am home time. Atlanta was horrible and then Nashville was bad also.

Oh well home now. Going to see what floated away while we were gone. Well after some more nap. Wide awake at my normal time now that I'm home. Only 3.5 inches of rain last week in gauge. More forecast for next 2-3 days. Litter is still here. To wet to haul anything. This isn't turning out good. May be a while before I get birds back.

Rip be safe in your travels. Stop back by when you can.

Buppies be safe.

78F headed to 88F today but with a nice breeze at least. I'm having a lazy Sunday morning.

Farmer, good to hear you are home safe. Traffic is something else these days, especially in high season for vacation trips and construction. It seems there is no escape. Hopefully you can get your litter hauled soon. Your 3.5" inches last week is more than we've had all summer so far.

Eric, no plans for field art. :) Just trying to see what I can make out of some fairly worthless land. Large acreages here can be bought for $500-$800 per acre; $1250-$2000 per hectare. That is some of cheapest land in the US where water is available and there are reasons for that--an abundance of rocks in thin, poor soils being one of them. :D They used to raise a lot of sheep here back when wool had more value.

Had a very nice breakfast, lacking only toast or a muffin - no butter left. Told the wife I was going to derate her 1 star. She ignores me sometimes...
