65 going to 78 and warming a little every day this week. No rain in the forecast. Got my lumber yesterday for the rafters, so will be cutting them today. Spent yesterday roasting chili peppers for the wife to make salsa, and helping her clean house for her brothers visit, they come on Wed.

Good morning! 62˚ heading to the mid 80s, tomorrow we start hitting the 90s again and fall is over - for a while.

The veggie of the week is beet root. Just like PF Flyers (you do remember those don't you, from the 60s Saturday morning TV adds) they make you run faster and jump higher. Actually beets do help oxygenate the blood and who does not need more oxygenated blood. If only this research would have come out earlier maybe Lance Armstrong could have done it by just eating beets instead of doping. Any 5K runners out there want to try this non-cheating food to better your time?
Here's a very interesting 4 min video that shows the research, it makes me want to go out and buy some beets.

We are still waiting for the grade to be posted today on the bean bear.

Good morning, a beautiful fall day here, 55F now heading to 66F. Looked at a townhouse yesterday for an investment property, put offer in and it was accepted. Now I just need to find a decent tenant and my retirement nest egg will start to grow.

56 this morning and headed to 83 today. Nice dry and clear day.

Yesterday went well. Got both the end walls upstairs framed and ready for metal. Well almost I need some hinges and to build a door. A little less than 2 hours per wall.

Today is a goner. After I get done with birds and get next chamber ready for them to migrate to tomorrow it'll be time to get ready for the dentist appointment. Hopefully it's just my 6 month scrubbing and lecture. Then a reward trip to lowes. Looking at a router. Any suggestions?

* Coastal flooding... water levels 2 to 4 feet above normal
peaking around the times of high tide. Some roads along the
Pamlico river reported to have 4 feet of water covering them
and many roads are becoming impassable.

hmmmmm. Let's see, should I be out driving around today, say to the CC which is right on the Pamlico River? High tide of 3pm. I could get stuck in there...
unlikely to be a good idea. I am so used to going to the problem, not away from it. Fireman's dna...but now I'd just be another Lookey Lou getting in the way
yes Ron, serious line of weather parked right below me. Doesn't seem to be going anywhere fast so it's drowning whatever it's over, which appears to be Wilmington NC now. Figure perhaps later today it could get seriously wet here but the forecast doesn't call for it. Odd...hopefully they know something my eyes on radar returns don't.

An hour and a half since I posted no rain in the forecast and it is raining... Welcome to FL.

Farmer, what are you wanting to do with the router? Personally, all of mine are Porta Cable, but they are pre- B&D ownership. I don't know how good the new ones are? I have heard good things about the DeWalt's. For a good all around router, look for a 3/4 HP with both 1/4" and 1/2" collets. Anything bigger is hard to hold by hand but great mounted in bench, anything smaller is mostly used for trimming laminate and the bearings will not hold up against wood for very long. And unless you are making signs, cutting circles or anything you need in the middle of, a plunge router just adds weight, blind spots, and more things to adjust. Can you tell I am router rich and cash poor. Hehehehe, wait till you start buying bits...

Kev. I was thinking dual base. A solid base and a plunge. Would like a fence. Just general woodworking. Mortise and tenon, rabbits, rounding edges.

What I'm trying to do is keep from having to change setups in table saw as much. I'm getting ready to have to do a lot of rabbits and I have a dado blade but I'll also need to rip the boards first.

I was thinking in the 3/4-1 hp range.

You are thinking good. Rabbets are tricky by hand depending on several things (wood type, length, depth)but can be done. You might want to look at how easy it is to change bases

Will do. The rabbits will be in ship lap siding. So 1/2 x 1/2" x length of board. Would I be better off with a table? That was the reason for wanting a fence.

Good Morning! 73F @ 7:50AM. Sunny. High 81F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Oh dear, another Monday. That makes two this week!

Drew, out here the local nurserys have sales to clear out summer plants to make room for winter varieties.

David, nice work on the tile! I'll bet you're glad that the grouting is done. It usually takes me a few days to recover from one of those jobs.

Don, I have a friend that went to the doctor after eating a large helping of beets. He thought he was suffering from internal bleeding! Hope that bear tasted as good as it looks. Your wife should get top marks!

More tinkering in the garage today. Making a new bracket to hold twin coils, using steel recycled from the first house I purchased 30 years ago. Never throw anything away!
