74° here this morning and forecast to 98° this afternoon. If that holds will be first day under 100° for over two weeks.

David, and his new friend H. Lane, reminded me that one year ago today, H. Harvey came to visit Texas. We got over 32” of rain, probably more as rain gauges do not measure well when rain is going sideways.

No damage or flooding at the Ranch but, the roads in/out stayed flooded for 3+ days.

My bride was at our house in Richmond and she couldn’t get out for 4 days. Water there got up to the bottom of the driveway and no higher. There were homes, with 6’ of water in them, less than 4 blocks away.

Power never even blinked, at either place during the storm.

I don’t do FB or the tweet thing either Don. Just never had any interest and still don’t. I’d give my reasons but won’t, at the risk of hurting feelings of those who do.

Looking for some good deals and a safer place to sell than Craigslist might be a good reason to look into it. I do not do twitter, Snapchat, Instagram or any of the others. There are ways to control who sees your post and other info. But You probably need to take one of Don’s communities classes.
We use it to communicate with family members that are spread around the world.

I use Facebook to keep up with distant family mostly. If you don稚 put it out there, nobody can take advantage of it. It痴 really that simple. Saying Facebook got you in trouble is like saying learning to write caused people to steal personal information. If you don稚 write it down, they can稚 read it. It ain稚 Facebook, it痴 the user.

Another cool morning, 54 early, low 80s later.
BEF, feel better.
Buppies, great looking house you have. Got a soccer game and nursing home visit on The agenda today.
All those having problems, I hope they get better soon, prayers for all.

another dinosaur here, no FB, no tweeting or texting. LOL

2 1/2 hours of painting grey oil deck paint this morning and I got the gazebo done.
Helper coming for a few hours this afternoon,
painting was on his list but I decided I'd rather have him weedeat a wet ditch (vs me...) and weed the garden.

need to remember to look in mirror, bet I have some grey paint in my hair, but then, it should blend in...;)

I did learn how to text a couple of years ago. It’s the best way to keep up with our 16 year old grand daughter. She checks her email about once a week.

73°F and 14.66 inches last 24 hours. Over 152.9 inches ytd. 41.3 for the storm.
Seems to be a break in the rain as Lane is no longer a hurricane. Looks like most of the state escaped. Still getting road closure reports locally.

No big plans for the day

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Does anyone have a recommendation on a ventilation fan to install in a garage ceiling and vent into the attic? Something like a whole house fan but smaller. It should be 22” or less on the ceiling.

Don, we don’t do Facebook at all, nor twitter, neither do must of our friends.

my relative near Honolulu said she was fine, that tradewinds blew the storm away but everything was soaked. Tested the infrastructure I'm sure, drains aren't designed for 40 inches of rain usually.
So the prevailing winds there go from East to West?? How can that happen? I clearly need a weather lesson.

Only thing on my plate this afternoon is rooting through the garden shed, which has never been cleaned up since I moved here, and find some decorative pots that the Garden Club ladies can use to put my new sunroom plants in. I'll see if anything passes muster.
Chief Inspector arriving tomorrow afternoon. This should be interesting...

got my dates screwed up, thought it was Sunday already, maybe that finally shows I'm retired...
or early dementia. I'm sticking with retired. :D

No damage for us
Good news.

Today is Harvey Anniversary.

Also my wife and I are celebrating ours. We went and had a nice lunch while the kids were at school.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a ventilation fan to install in a garage ceiling and vent into the attic? Something like a whole house fan but smaller. It should be 22 or less on the ceiling.

You need a fan to suck in more 103F heat??? Make sure your ceiling above the garage is insulated. Insulate your garage door. Put a mini split in that can remove the BTU load. Mini splits can run some pretty long lines to the main unit. Do you get the evening sun shining in while your back patio is shaded? Pick your poison.

I talked to a lady at the bank yesterday while waiting, about the heat. She says her husband works outdoors at the lumberyard and is climatized. He gets cold inside at 75F if there is a ceiling fan running.

I have a FB page, but only visit maybe every 2 months or so.

The classifieds on FB seem to be a good usage.

I watch a LOT of TV, movies, and spend a significant amount of time with social media. I feel like it's time well spent.

I'm so happy this is still mostly a free country. Each of us can choose to spend time the way they see fit. And none of us should be called into question for doing so.

Well I got to play with the lathe a bit today. Faced off and end on a piece of 2 1/4 alu. and then turned down a 23/4" section on the end. Lathe worked well, played with different feed rates ect. Tried to post a pic but can't get it to work today. Maybe later.

Don, no FB for me, do use email for orders and to collect spam.

Kyle, Happy Anniversary.

Prayers for Hawaii and our friend David. 41" WOW. Ed
