18 right now...high today of 38 and maybe snow showers.

Got the truck back yesterday. Turned out to be a sensor that measured air flow. The mechanic has misdiagnosed the problem, initially. He was getting lean codes from the scanner which would indicate the fuel pump. As jammed up as the sensor was, one would have expected the engine to indicate a rich condition. Anyway, I told him to leave the replacement fuel pump in and replace the sensor. Ran good on the way home...hope it gets me to Connecticut this morning!
So, got a very good break on the tow (free) and the fuel pump price (knocked a hundred bucks off).

BTW, the sensor was clogged due to a mouse in the air cleaner housing....had a **** of a nest built up! I wouldn't expect a mouse moving an staying in a vehicle that is driven daily. I keep an eye on the tractor...but the truck, no...just wouldn't expect that!

We are white over with frost this morning. Hopefully that will have some of the plants thinking twice about making an early appearance.

Not too bad then Roy, that mouse must have appreciated you warming the nest every day.

That's good news, Roy.
Not surprising about to the mouse through. I've had 3 instances. Had my previous Tacoma in for servicing and the tech brought me a filter that had become a home. Twice I've lost the windshield washer function in my Tundra due to mouse munching. I keep some deterrent packets in the engine compartment and my fingers crossed.

14F clear sky upper 30's for high...not bad weather for end of January. :)

Glad you got good break Roy, amazing at times something so small can cause BIG headache. :(

Enjoy the day all.

57 going to 68. They claimed it was going to rain all night, I don't even see any dew out yet. Supposed to rain all day, we will see. Got some work in town today hanging a door, then fixing water hammer issue. Easy day.

Drew, brakes are not about law as much as they are safety. And with the hills in Amish country, very much needed be it PA or OH. My wagon has a running gear that was homemade and they used elect. brake hubs due to cost I am sure. The Amish use Hydraulic brakes like what is in your car, or band brakes which is a band that tightens around the outside of the hub like what is on my forecart. Then some period wagons use friction brakes on the outside which is levered like you saw on the old "Wagon Train" shows. What I was doing was trying to save money, and make something work and be appealing. You know, reinventing the wheel. :D

On the way home last night, the wife and I stopped at the furniture store to buy some new pillows and now have a new bed being delivered on the 4th.

20 going to 47. Haircut and gym day.

Roy, have had mice get in engine compartment, but fortunately, no damage. One figured how to get into my wife's SUV, and had to bait a trap to catch him...he was eating my wife's little bag of travel popcorn. On the tractor, the mice build on top of the plastic gas tank under the hood...easy removal...but the Carolina wrens built a nest on top of the rear end/transmission...hated to have to disturb that nest.

39 degrees going up to 48 today in light rain all day
David, I decided not to run conduit because 1)I already have electricity run to the barn overhead; this underground mess was pre-barn. 2) No desire/intention/plans to run heavy trucks back in this area again. And I am going down as far in the mostly sandy soil as the Ditchwitch will go this time. 3)I spent the money on the heavier gauge pipe

You know, reinventing the wheel.
Well Kev I'm glad you said it because I thought it, having come from PA and knowing that buggy/carriage matters are long known there.
Maybe a subscription to Amish Buggy Weekly?
Brakes? Isn't that what a WHOA is for?

Is this for a parking brake or to help the horses stop? I thought they did the stopping...must be for going down hills/slopes?
Clearly I have never been on a horse in my life.
Hydraulic brakes are proportional and electric is supposed to be, but electric is cruder right? Grabby?

One of the reasons to periodically take the sheet metal engine covers off my Gravely exposing the air cooled fins of the engine is because there is a quarter sized hole on each side allegedly for access to something and the mice go in that hole. Built a nice nest on top of the engine but under the shrouding. Serious burning smell, shut down, clean out the crispy critter and nest. This is where I hope that black snake near the barn is happy and healthy, eat those mice!
