Good evening all. 44F this morning, overcast and breezy. Overcast broke up about lunch, Got breezier, and high temp was 52F. Tonight we are supposed to have the first freeze of the season :(. Slow morning, did take wife shopping for her wardrobe, and had lunch while in Sherman. Planted her new miniature weigela when we got home and put the outside faucet covers on.
RNG hope your fire zone worked, stay safe.
Buppies hope your arm gets better, Is this cool weather near Gainesville TX going to last?

Signed up for Medicare part A and B

Bups, I don't understand the Medicare system, should I take this as a sign that change is coming ?

I hope so as I've been thinking of asking for your help for a while. I gave up working full time a few years ago and each time I hear you bouncing straight back from medical issues to work again, or working at weekends, I start to feel bad at not putting in as much effort nowadays. If you could you consider easing off a little, then maybe I won't feel so guilty at enjoying my much more laid back lifestyle. :)

RNG, the fires on your doorstep made it on to our news. What a terrible sight. Not long ago, when you posted the video of you riding down your track and those tree lined roads, I'm sure I wasn't the only one thinking what a nice place you live in. I'm sure it will soon be nice again, nature is brilliant at recovering from all sort of destructive events, but I expect this one is going to have you thinking even more than before about fireproofing a home. Whatever you find when you get back, you did the smart thing and got out in good time with that most valuable possession - life.

On the positive side, if you used heat-shrink tubing on the van wiring, those joints should be good and tight. :)

Good morning all, 38 going to a high of 41 and sunny. Gave wife a hair cut yesterday and did little things around the house.

Buppies, prayer for the shoulder. Hope it gets much better even without the doc.

RNG, praying all is well at your house.

Have a great day, prayers sent. Ed

31 and going down to a high of 28F. Wind NW 7 mph. It sure looks pretty out with the snow coming down, heavy at times. We have about 3" on the ground and a lot more coming down.
Historically speaking, whatever Gaylord, MI gets we usually get, with some added for the lake water a storm will pick up crossing lake Michigan and Georgian Bay.
Block heater on tractor already turned on.

It looks like I will be doing the kitchen drain myself. I cannot seem to get a plumber out, I think because it is 'hunting season'. That is the only reason I can figure out. I do have a reputation for paying in cash on the spot. That used to account for something, but not anymore I guess.

IF I remember my 7th grade volume formula right I think to find the volume of a cylinder it is;
V=PDL (3.14[PI]x3"[D]x240"[L]) = 2260.8 cubic inches to change into gallons would be 12x12x12=1728cubic inches. 2260.8/1728=1.3 gallons. Correct me if I am mistaken, but somehow I have it in my head that one gallon equals 1 cubic foot. Eric Salop, HELP! You know the imperial system better than I do, I think.

Stay safe RNG

Have a good day all

Prayers for RNG this morning that his home is ok.

51 going up a little today in sunshine, then very cold tonight.
Helper coming this morning, we will work on leaves and cleanup, then this afternoon I go to the Blue Star Memorial
event at the local rest stop, dedicating a new marker.

Buppies, congrats. You just saved about 8 grand in medical costs annually. You made it...

hope you all have a nice weekend.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 22° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 37° with cloudy skies. Bedroom furniture was picked up and put in bedroom. It was heavy. Solid oak construction. No plans for the day.

Buppies, prayers your arm is feeling better.

RNG, best wishes that your home was spared from damage.

Eric, i will offer my help. You do pay travel, lodging and per diem. I work cheap. :confused3:

Ed, I have a 3/4" masonry bit around here someplace.

Looking, here is a good conversion program for Windows.

Good Morning All.

40 and clear, going to 49 and winds up to 26mph.

Warmth from the woodstove feels good. Buppies, if we are going to get somewhere between the Ed and the Randy snow, I better get out and cut some more firewood.

RNG, the news reports have looked tragic. Hope you are safe and all of your hard work with fire breaks had paid off.

Buppies, I just signed up for Parts A and B on Tuesday...take effect next year, so have been shopping for whether to get a Medicare Advantage plan or a Medigap and Part D. I've been using a nice website that shows coverage and compares plans...a website provided by my current private healthcare coverage, which I also have to sign up for next year to bridge the period before Medicare coverage, and to cover my younger wife (I think she says she is still 29.) I have been getting (but don't answer) as many as a dozen phone calls a day...many were for the election, but just as many are to sell Medicare supplement plans. Who tells them who is turning 65 next year and their phone numbers?

Eric, I hope your concrete-pecker has quieted down. Glad you got your suicidal lamb off the farm.

3rd sour Saturday in row cause by sour weather. :(

Turkey heard letting it be known they want breakfast

Enjoy the day all.

33 degrees even down south here this morning, but supposed to be clear and sunny and going for a high of 51.

And wngsprd, even after you get everything settled in regards to Medicare, supplement, Part D, etc., you still get lots of phone calls and mail trying to sell you something during the open enrollment period each year.

Sometimes I wish it was more like the health insurance of 50 years ago; no trying to determine which plan was best; just one plan, and the only decision was to take it or leave it.

I just signed up for a new supplemental plan, I switched from Plan F to Plan G. I’m likely to spend that $183 in deductibles either way and I’m saving $54 a month from my old State Farm plan, now with Cigna.
Also switched prescription plans but not sure I’m saving anything there, they are most confusing.

Buppies and RNG, special prayers, God bless us all.

I was hoping for a 2012 style winter, but we get what we get. I’ll get the snow shovel and tractor ready.

Yeah, but you into November with the winter you’ve got, not the one you really want...

The winter of 2013/2014 was pretty bad here. Record snow and record cold. Lost our power here for 14 days from November thru March . I had snow under some trees April 20! 2 of my neighbors, both widows, moved out, said they couldn’t handle another winter out here.
