35 going to 71.

Nice day, but I have to get my root canal tooth carved up for a crown fitting today...then get the staples removed from my scalp. Then do more tax prep, if I really want to be a *********.

Rick, that corn syrup was my favorite commercial, too, along with the Hyundai elevator...Don, I thought that vegan floor looked okay.

Nice deer tracks. I think my "favorite" doe deer got hit on the road out at the corner of our place...saw it in the ditch on the way to town, but gone when I came home. I did find one leg in the woods, and many buzzards overhead.

According to North Bay weather the temp is 9F and that will be the high for the day. Wind NNW 13 gusting to 23 mph. Snow in the forecast for the next 4 days. I'm a gonna be a busy boy.

A 'normal' winter here brings us a minimum of 48" of snow.

It rained yesterday, all day. Started off with scotch mist and progressed to full on rain. It came down hard! The 18" of snow that was on my steel roof is now on the ground. I need to get some of the snow away from the front room window today. So that is in the schedule along with the dump run that I didn't do on Sunday. I seem to have 'lost' Sunday. Must have been stoned and I missed it.Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show - "I Got Stoned An - YouTube

Have a good day all

67°F with dense fog this morning. Forecast is for 74°F this afternoon. I need some "fognoculars" for the F-350 as I've got to be in LaGrange by 8 a.m.

This "warmup" has done little for our wet pastures as it's warm but, stays overcast all day plus we get a little rain almost daily. Ground is saturated.

We're supposed to get a cold front in overnight Thursday so ...... a cooler weekend in store.

Planning on more tree trimming when I get back from La Grange.

Hope everyone has an excellent Tuesday.

Prayers to all.

Beetloaf to Don.

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 33° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 35° with sun in afternoon. Forecast is ice storm overnight. Restocked critter feed yesterday. Another 200 lbs in storage bins. That should last another month. Got a couple of projects I want to get started in shop today. Brackets to mount LED flood lights on lawn mower is on top of list. I need these for it's snow blower. I never cut lawn in the dark.

Prayers for all.

Good Morning All.

Drew, your vegetable gardening makes me tired just reading about it. Keep up the good work. But take care of your body.

30 early, 66 later, got my shorts under my sweatpants just in case. Drew, that’s a lot of gardening for one man, don’t be the hardest working gardener in the graveyard!
Wngsprd, hope the taxes and the staples come out correctly.
I had a super busy day yesterday, trying to take it slowly today.
Not a lot planned, doesn’t mean it won’t happen.
Good day and prayers to you all.

Good morning! 65 ˚F heading to 75 ˚F cloudy.

Eric, Wetting Agent Man does sound better than bed wetter. Just listen - Johnny Rivers - Secret Agent Man (1966) - YouTube

Went to the Horticulture meeting yesterday and found out our garden water comes from a 900' well into the Trinity aquifer.
The water is very Alkaline and if you pour it on your windshield on a hot day, when it dries it leaves a white film and you won't be able to see through your windshield. It is basically dissolved lime. So to get the soil PH close to 6.5 (mine was 7.3) you must add acid and the way others do it is to sprinkle on Iron Sulfate. The club also sells acidified cotton hull compost and I also got some granulated molasses made from cane and beets to feed the microbes. I tilled these three ingredients in the raised bed yesterday after trail blazing.

Soil is #1, Water is #2. I have been talking to some gardeners who are re-doing their irrigation system and I will be working on that the next few days. Since we have a water faucet in each garden I first need to find a battery operated timed hose controller. I also need to decide if I should have two watering zones in this timed drip irrigation system.

This week is potato cutting week at the gardens and since potatoes like the soil a little acidic instead of using ashes on the cuts to harden them I'll use what they use - sulphur - it will add the needed acid the potatoes like. I bought 7 pounds of red organic potatoes to cut up.

txdon; thanks for that. That's probably what is wrong with my potatoes. Not enough acid. Will putting wood ashes straight into the dirt make a difference?

It's 25° this morning, yesterday was mostly sunny and windy. We have a chance of snow showers this morning with some cleaning this afternoon. With the high in the mid 30's and the wind 15-25 mph. The forecast shows it getting colder in the middle of the week.

Not sure what the day will bring.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Good morning to all! Low of 35, going up to 52 and sunny to partly cloudy. Front coming in tonight may bring a few showers, but it's also going to get windy. Seems when the wind starts, the rain showers get blown away too.

I'm off to PT this morning, they are supposed to try acupuncture on the knee to see if that helps..... I still have not heard back from the ortho doc regarding the referral to a rheumatologist... I guess I'm going to have to be a pest and call them daily.....

Drew, need some pics of those happy plants....

Don, I think your plants might get more spoiled than Drew's....

LNF, try to stay warm, be careful playing out in the snow!

Ron, be careful if you get that ice storm....no falls !

Rip, good luck on the return to work, you'll get back into the routine of the commute in no time!

I've got to get started, so hope everyone's day goes as planned. Prayers sent.

It all depends on the soil, on the farm the sandy soil was acidic and lime and ash was needed. Look for a ph tester or get the soil tested. Our garden club does it free, they take your sample, dry it, add it to distilled water and then test it.

Wood ash does the opposite of sulphur so you must know your ph before adding anything and you must know what ph you veggie grows best in.

Okra is the only vegetable that does not care what ph you have.
