Good morning! 66˚ cloudy. The news is predicting 5 days of rain up to 10". Everyone is getting ready for the floods. I need to run to the store because of my low water crossing on my street will shut us in. The Austin area lakes are near full and the flood gates may be opened if that much rain hits. Because of the drought the last time the gates were open was ten years ago. People around the lakes are preparing.

.

Yep, ranch is presently middle of the bullseye for 8-10" for Monday overnight. 24 hours ago we were just in southern fringe, now dead center.

Roy... better days are coming just kick back enjoy the weather and recover more.

As far as dropping those two trees...yeah, that's what I'm going to do.
There's other outdoors stuff to do and it's too nice to lay about inside (although the dog would prefer the couch and TV with Daddy)

The places like that and the lower humidity, compared to east of here, are some of the reasons I live over here. Don't hike or fish much but I still love the views.

Daugen, Kile and Don.
I learned of the oil problems a few days ago and am not sure what to do. Just might let the Honda dealer have it. Thanks

Yeah, it got to 31ー here as well, about half hour after sunrise, according to the weather station.

Geeezzzzzzz 12:00 noon and already 80 degrees out there. Freaking hot.

Cut two of the five sections of grass. The Huskey is doing a nice job. Still kind of wet for the big tractor.

Wife is just now getting dressed so we can go to Krogers. I hate going there mid day....... :mur:

RS, is there a primer on hydraulics somewhere here on TBN? I'm really struggling with the terminology.
Dunno ... whatever meager knowledge I possess on the subject has been gleaned from reading threads ... hundreds of them probably.

Hard to picture what's going on when I have no idea what "port beyond", "third function", or "spool" mean.
These are some rough definitions:

Power beyond is an additional port that (some) valves have that supplies hydraulic fluid (at full pressure and flow) to a downstream valve. It is different than a return port, which basically just dumps to the tank/hydraulic reservoir at low pressure.

Third function (as in third function valve) is a type of power beyond valve which supplies an additional function, typically to a loader from what I can gather, which commonly only has two (lift and curl)

A spool is a machined, internal part on a hydraulic valve which, when moved, directs the fluid flow to one of three places: 1. Port A (typically "extend"), 2. Port B (typically "retract"), 3. Return to tank/Power Beyond.

These are my understandings, and hopefully if they are incomplete or inaccurate in any way someone more knowledgeable than I will jump in and correct/supply additional data.

Additional point and some additional data the difference between 3rd function vs. diverter valves:

I'd guess either type could be manual or electronic (solenoid operated) ... my diverter is electronic.

Here's the key point on the difference between 3rd function and diverter.

A diverter works by taking the flow normally used by a single device and diverts it to another device when the diverter is activated ... so you cannot control both devices at the same time.

A 3rd function valve does not have that limitation.

Diverter valves tend to be much cheaper, cost-wise ... if you can live with their limitation.

My bucket curl and 3 point hitch, use the same valves, so there is a diverter with two levers to divert the flow to whichever you're using the other stays locked where you put it. They're down by the three range hydro shifter in easy reach. That's on my 4041 Powr'Max. I thought it might create an inconvenience, but I've never needed both at the same time.

Worked all morning, not much to show for it. Working on a barn at our church property. I've been slowly installing new overhead doors to replace some very heavy sliders. Have to frame the opennings smaller, fill in the gaps with plywood for now. Will redo the walls later with new metal.
Today i wound the spring on a door i installed last fall, then installed some plywood.

This thread is STILL GOING? Wow. As for me I am too busy to spend time on TBN any longer. Wishing you all the best. JDGreen227

Yes....that is a John Deere themed cake on the right...my sister in law created both of these cakes. Wedding was performed outdoors at the English Inn in Eaton Rapids, Michigan.
