Off to friends for our annual New Years brunch. I made a simple breakfast casserole - Jimmy Dean sausage, potatoes, egg, topped with cheese.

Still recovering from the dinner, like Drew, a lot of mess, but worth it. Prime rib sandwich coming in a few minutes! I went to sleep about 11:45, woke up a little after 12 to the sounds of distant fireworks.
Low 40's to low 50's, beautiful sunshine. Have a good day all.

Left oldest with my mother last night. Asleep before midnight. Had good times and meals yesterday. Got up this morning and fixed breakfast. Breakfast crescents. Cover your eyes don.
1 lb sausage we use Williams country mild.
1 cup cheddar cheese
1 stick cream cheese
2 cans of crescent rolls.
Brown sausage and drain. Mix in cheeses. Fill crescent rolls and bake.

Take care of birds then keep kids so wife can make some lesson plans for the week. Back to grind for her tomorrow.

The lady who cooked me lunch today is a teacher and is going back to work tomorrow too. I told her to take a nap.
Light rain here, good day for a nap. Tomorrow will be full speed ahead for many.

I brought a tupperware container home of black eyed peas. Now this Northern boy hasn't eaten many of these for sure, and they are good!

I was on my feet almost constantly for two days putting on this dinner, and I got calls from both couples today saying what a special time they had.
So it was worth it. Now special might mean they are changing their phone numbers...I did get into it with one guy about his desire to drug test every student and if he had his way every man woman and child. Big Brother. Yes, drug test athletes, yes drug test anyone who absolutely has to be 100% sober, if there is such a thing, to do the responsibilities of their jobs for public safety. Yes to lots of applications but for every teenager? How about their parents? How about all pregnant women? How invasive do we want to be?... Of course, get this, he has a part time job doing drug testing at the high school instead of full retirement as football coach.
We changed the topic to Alabama football...and he really did like my meat loaf. so he gets a pass, pun intended.

48F this morning and fog. now it's 62F, bright sunshine and light wind, great day for a ride! Too bad I left the house @ 10AM while still foggy. nap time now to mourn the Cowboy's loss. Need to get to work on firewood and garage shelves, what was that about New Years resolutions?

Personally made it to 11:00 wife 10:30 but I don't think we really missed anything. Lots of fireworks going off but still did not stop us from our deep slumber
