Randy hope your mom is ok

48 in paradise this morning high of 58 later today. Mossflower we may get snow if everything lines up right but hard to do in this pattern. Winter for us may be over for this year. Stormy spring followed by very hot summer maybe hotter than last year. Please do not shoot the messenger. Leave tomorrow to head back to salt mines

Have you figured out how you want to replace it? Does it cross under the road? Do you have any way of finding out the original plans or origin of it?

Going on the style of drainage tile, that drain has been in a long time. No records, but I do know roughly where a drain comes out on the other side of the track at the bottom of the slope. Now it's clear that it's not just surface runoff and has to my mind undoubtedly been crushed, the railway contractors will also accept it's their machinery that has caused the damage. I will try and get them to dig out for a few yards up and down the slope and replace it - wish me luck !

Kyle, I have been looking at metal emissivity and infra red reflectance, much as you must have been doing for your new roof. In my case I want to make a fire surround for the wood burner in my workshop. It ended up going in very close to the wall behind, so I need a surround that will reflect a lot of radiated heat. As a temporary measure I stood an off cut sheet of galvanised steel behind it. That worked well, although now it's time to make something better looking and certainly more permanent in case a building inspector should want to see in there (the workshop is attached to the house and the house is not yet signed off).

One of the interesting things I came across was that the layer of oxide on the surface of any metal makes quite a difference in the amount of heat absorbed/reflected. Not a problem if you can cover your roof with gold leaf, but a consideration for any other metal. For me, the best material to use looks to be stainless - not too expensive as I only have a small area. 304 stainless would be excellent for a house roof where you want to keep summer heat out, although a little pricey for a house roof.

Kyle, Falcons lost SB to Denver, back in late 90's as I recall.

Good luck with your Mom Randy, hope it's just the flu. Which seems to be everywhere right now.

David, only 62? sounds chilly for Hawaii. But then you never seem to get that hot either.
