70°F and light rain this morning, going up to 90° again today with rain expected pretty much all day. And that's OK, we could definitely use it.

Thanks for all the kind birthday wishes. I'd tell you it was a wonderful day, but honestly, every day is wonderful.

Welcome to the GM thread, Rosie.

Nice-looking shotgun, Eric. Congrats. Let us know your thoughts after you've warmed the barrel.

Good point. Mine is the L series. Here is the info on pg 114:
Don,

That procedure is very similar to one in my manual (a lot of the same verbiage), although the actual clearance spec is a little different (mine is slightly tighter) and the table showing which valves can be adjusted shows both 3 and 4 cylinder engines.

And yeah ... I wouldn't be inclined to be doing it until it cools off a little if it were me ... mebbe about January or February ?

Good morning! Never did get below 80˚ last night so we are going to be in the 100s with the standard light southerly wind.
I need to get my "L" tractor out of summer hibernation and put on the forks to get the picnic benches placed under the tents. Oh wait, first we need to erect the tents. Every year about this time I think all we need to do is tax the land in our area at $1 an acre for fire protection and then we would not have to work in this awful heat. But then every year when we plan it in the spring it doesn't seem that hot and then there are the 1200 people who expect it as it is the only event of the community for the year.

RS I'll pt you on alert when I start the project. Some of the terminology I should verify when I get started. I wish someone would do a youtube or pic by pic how to do it.

Welcome Rosie to the morning thread.

RS, thanks for detailing the valve clearance job.
My pleasure.

When my tractor hit 800 hours, I got worried about it, tried to find info on TBN, but gave up...seemed to be something that wasn't critical unless there were symptoms, so I figured I'd wait.
Yeah ... I had sort of been fretting about it since I figured out that I had missed it at the prescribed interval ... really started getting nervous when I hit 1600 hours ... but clearly not nervous enough to immediately do anything about it. :D

Certainly not something I'd recommend though ...

... How many hours between valve adjustments on that Kubota, RS?
Recommended @ 800 hours.

Mine had it's first one @ 2000 hours.

It's been so long since I last did mine I've forgotten, so it's probably about time to do it again...
Probably couldn't hurt ... :D

Got a fair approximation of a foot prop made for the old bike's center stand yesterday, but will need to make a few adjustments after tacking it in place and trying the fit. Started with a round bar, but ended up using a radius cutter on the corners pretty much wiping out the lathe work.
Nice ...

Good thing I'm not being paid by the hour.:confused2:
I have that same issue ...

Brings back the memories of my sitting down in Laredo waiting to get a load out, and the temps being over 90F ... at midnight ...

There's something to be said for events like that, where the entire community comes together and interacts, especially in this day and age of the internet, iPhones, and home deliveries.

Be happy to provide any insights I can, however meager they might be.

2x on the terminology ...

I wish someone would do a youtube or pic by pic how to do it.
I never even thought to check that ... it would be handy ... if for no other reason that it would lessen the trepidation some might have who had never done it before.

Got kind of a surprise this morning the low was 38* with a light breeze.Had to go back in and get a heavier coat. Yesterday high was 72* with steady wind of 10-15 mph. That made it feel cooler. Today it's go back to the high 70's with more sunshine.

Not much planned for today, going to make a trip to town. The grandkids and I made trip to the reservoir yesterday for a few hours. They don't have much experience fishing. So it was a lot of helping them. We didn't catch anything but had a good time. Plan on getting them out a few more times.

A welcome goes out to Rosie.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
