73 going to 86...maybe storms.

Hope you guys don't get that predicted 12-24" of rain from Harvey.

Bush hogged my main dove plot yesterday. Way too much grass, but at least the Goldfinch had not eaten all the sunflowers. Saw the bobwhites again. See them every couple of days. Nice to have them back.

Semi-annual dermatologist trip for us today. I do have a couple of spots I'm concerned about.

Good morning all. Not sure how long this borrowed desktop machine is going to stay powered up as the sky has turned darker than an eclipse and thunder is all around.

I am away from home today, doing a bit of paid work for the first time in quite a while. When I got there I found a bunch of 1.6mm welding rods waiting for me (quality rods that size are not easy to come by), together with a note from one of the mechanical engineers. He has gone to work at another company and left me the rods as a present. Hard to drink that first cup of tea when you have a bit of a lump in your throat.

Riptides, I find that itching phase after a wasp sting is the worst part, hope you find something to ease it.

Had some bites at the weekend that made my wife laugh (she has little sympathy at any males intolerance to minor pain). Some little midges (similar to your no-see-ums) had found their way into my underwear when it was drying on the washing line and got real hungry by the time I came to wear them. That anti-bite spray sure is cold

Not much to report at my end. I'm looking forward to the end of Humidity Season.

Be well,

Good morning! Looks like Friday will be the decision day on wether we will continue with the VFD Fish Fry. We are continuing with the preparations just in case the hurricane turns. We currently have a burn ban going so the moisture would be welcome. However with dozens of volunteers all geared up to make 1200 plates of food a 2 week delay would be an unknown factor. There is also the thousand pounds of Fish to contend with. Only once in 35 years has there been a rain-out in August, and no one can remember what effect the 2 week delay had.

If the hurricane hits there is high pressure in the west and a front from the North that will keep it circling the area dumping water. With 24" of rain it looks like either way Saturday will be a VFD day - either picnic or panic. How's that for a catchy news media headline.:D

Good morning all. 74 going to 82 with a 30% chance of T storms. Mother in law visits today so morning shot. Wife is sad because the weather is cooling down and so will the pool. Take today as it comes.

Hawk, My wife is on a Z pack now, praying for your wife.

Don, Praying for "your" fish fry. 24" of rain is unreal, how do you get your mind around that? If you measure 4 square feet will get almost 60 gal of rain!!!!!

Have a great day all. Ed

63F and clear @ 09:30 ... high today predicted to be 76F.

Clouds and wind all day long, but only a small amount of rain yesterday ... around 0.05" ?

We're ahead YTD by 8" or so ... but behind for the month by 2" ... :(

The minor amounts of rain we've had recently is keeping the grass from getting totally brown but the ground dries out pretty quick and it's stressing trees and shrubs.

The low this morning was 53*, yesterday high was 86*. We are getting a light rain now. The forecast is for thunderstorms and 10-20 mph winds. With 80% chance of rain and the high in the 70's.

Eric, sorry your pain was my entertainment.

txdon, hope your plans don't get rain out. Sounds like a lot of work and inconvenience for everyone if it dose.

Some of the aspen and willows are starting to change color. It won't be long before fall is here. I'll look at my list to see what else needs to be done before then.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Haven't heard a bobwhite in awhile.
Don, with that much rain, you might get fish swimming in.
