Some got wind, some got high water, some got both.

My mom headed back to Victoria, stir crazy and knowing that her power is still off. She and thousands of other electric customers. There is a boil water notice. The streets in Victoria are full of wind blown debris. Mainly leaves and twigs. Big stuff has been moved to the yards just by the curb. If it rains now, the leaves will clog the drains and there will be horrible flooding. They need to get the streets clean. If Houston had received the high winds, and the leaves had clogged their drains, who knows how much worse it could have been.

I saw 3 bass boats in a row, heading up Hwy 6 in Bryan TX. They looked dirty and muddy. Seeing so many help out so much gives me a tear.

It is hard to convey the level of disaster, slightly different in each community. If you lived only 100 miles away, you may have come away relatively unscathed. It sure is easy brushing off the fact that it "is somebody elses problem"... I know, I have done that before for some things.

The thing that I hope happens most, is that I hope that people who have given, helped or volunteered, get that special feeling of having helped someone in need. It is a powerful emotional feeling. Much better than any drug.

WOW, heart tearing!!!!

Last I heard, something like 16 Red Cross volunteers from Hawaii to Texas, most of them from the Big Island.

Checking out of Walmart today, the cashier quietly asked for a donation for Red Cross. Easy peasy, just add on the bill. I thought it interesting her thanks was more enthusiastic than the request, no doubt she was sincere.

Good evening all. 67F this morning, partly cloudy, wind near calm. Wind did come up a bit, sky cleared initially, but clouded back over this afternoon. High temp was 84F. Working on boat prep, found that seat bottom on captain's chair was completely toast. Leaving the boat, but taking the chair, stepson will be at the lake and he like to work on that kind of thing. Finished mowing today along with weed-eat so good on lawn till we get home. After dinner helped wife cut out curtains for stepson. This post written with David D. in the background (nice music)

Went through the Flood of '93 in the STL area. Where I worked was about 1 foot above water level had the levee failed, building next door 1 foot below water level. Spent some time sandbagging near stepson's home, in Old Monroe, MO. 12 ft high wall. The water was a foot below the top of wall, and from the bottom you could see the guys working in boats from the bottom of the wall, SPOOKY
At peak flood, about 57% of St Charles County was under water, from either the Missouri or Mississippi Rivers.

72 going to 77 today, in rain, looks like on and off rain for next two days.
My only task today is to have tractor ready to pick up new disc harrow coming late morning.

Red Cross makes it very easy to give online for hurricane relief.
I bet there will be a sellout on every dehumidifier for that area.
Just think of the mold issues in the heat.

Already at today's high of 66...slowly drop as Harvey remnants move in and rain.

Don, sad story.

Saw that Walmart was matching customer donations to the American Red Cross - twice what is donated, so I donated by going to Walmart.com. Walmart's matching funds will go to both the Red Cross and Greater Houston Community Foundation, set up for storm relief.

David, hope you are feeling better.

Took Coco to the vet for regular check up and shots...first time she has acted scared. Then got everything mowed, even though it was not quite time, but wanted to get ahead of the large rain expected.

Good morning all, 64 now with a high of 61, with a 70% chance of showers. No big plans for today, will see what comes.

Don, Bring's back bad memories, had friends that lost everything back years ago. But in central Va the hills keep the water near the river so not as many are hurt by it. More prayers sent.

Daugen, Looks like you are getting that deck fixed up fine.

Have a great day. Ed

First cup of coffee has been poured. 43° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 67° with partly cloudy skies. Got lawn cut yesterday and wire run for LED flood lights. Need mount lights and complete wire hookup. That will be my days project.
Very interesting visit from Detroit Edison at neighbors place. 2 work trucks show up. Asked them what they were going to do. They were going to install a new pole in neighbor's lawn. About 60' from existing pole next to my property line. There has been a new pole lying on side of road that we all thought was going to be used at a new home being built across county road. Called neighbor at work. They are going to do what? Sent worker to speak to neighbors wife. Did not take long and they were packing up. Neighbors place has been used in the local garden club tour a few times. Very nice landscaping. The local power company only has a right of way. No easement. That means that they have to make contact with homeowner before any work can be done unless it is an emergency. Like down power lines. They may be back, but only after talking to homeowner.
Drew, what about the Massey weight's?
Don, sad for new business owner.
Good Morning All.
