Good morning! 67˚ heading for the 90s. Clear skies. I forgot to tell you I got my Senior Park Pass in mail a few weeks ago. I hope to use it just as soon as it gets a bit cooler.

Most of the rain is passing south of us, but we do have a light rain ... enough of one to chase me off the tractor and back inside.

Won't be enough to make up for what we haven't gotten, but will hopefully settle the dust for a few days.

A lot more poplar up there than what I thought. It's going to be a big fire ...

Marvin Templeton is a good company Ed one of only two in Lynchburg but sense you were there have been bought out twice to Boxley Materials the Summit Materials. Lawhorne the other paving producer in Lynchburg sold out to Adams a division of English Construction. Was told once on orange Ave that due our paving on Orange avenue they were going to see the Mayor and get me fired

I worked for them back before the price rigging scandal in the late 70's and my dad let them dredge sand out of the river, for a price. After the scandal they vanished from our area. Ed

This is funny, I saw that tractor and actually thought of you Randy, your old SCUT, thought to myself, this would
be a good Toppop tractor. We were on the same page...

I need the tractor to pull my steel utility trailer because I am ruining/bending the hitch on my Gravely garden tractor. Constantly using the wagon and the Kubota is too big and both big tractors usually have something on the back already.
I looked them up online, 5K is a little high, but I'm sure he gave his BIL too big a trade-in on a new Massey cab tractor, particularly since he sold it to the guy twenty years ago. It's only been used to mow, which is good. And it is literally bone dry throughout the engine/trans area. I would crawl under one more time, but I'm interested. Not yet sold.

The challenge is that half the things I'd use it for would involve a loader. Like delivering loads of mulch to gardens where I can't drive the big tractor over the septic system. I do so much tree planting that I can see putting my old small phd on it, much easier to maneuver in tight spots.
If it were 8 grand with a loader, I would not hesitate, like finding a used Kubota bx with loader, but just none around here.
Iseki is fully competitive with Kubota, Japanese tractor which could look like new with a paint job.

Do I need it? I suppose...Could also be used with cultivators if I got into that next door.
One of the main attractions is that the selling dealer sold it new, and has serviced it constantly.
And they recommend it, saying it sat out too long without cover and that's why it looks bad. but take off the covers
and it looked great inside. Radiator was clean, treadle hydro worked well in all ranges, just seemed like a lot of
functionality for the money. Just like my current Massey is/was.

I'm about to sell my Jag and the rv since I don't use them enough. Thinking this might be a better idea.
The hydrostatic was key, very easy to use.

I’m a big hydro fan also. Id probably put a Loader or Johnny Bucket type setup if I had it.

That episode was basically bid rigging they caught one man who talked saved his own hide in process but had to sell out as part of the plea. APAC took the brunt president served jail time. The state was divided up into sections for each large player

Good evening all. 70F this morning, slightly less humid calm wind clear sky. High temp was 88F, winds less gusty today, sky clear. Cleaned up front port this morning, finished the boat seat :drink: , wife wasn't sure I would finish it :ashamed:. Need to clean up the interior, seat left a lot of rotten wood chips behind during removal. The cover had two flaps that I need to staple first, once I worked out how to locate those twp pieces, piece of cake to finish. The first photo is the replacement seat bottom, the second has what was left of the factory seat bottom, all that is left after 10 years

great job Mostly, now you can sit down and not wind up in the bilge.
It's always the end grain that gets boat wood in trouble, wicking from the bottom usually. Though maybe not in this case.

for you boaters, a boat story.
There was a wonderful line of old NJ motoryachts made by a company named Pacemaker.
That company also made sport fishing boats, and was bought out by a company named Uniflite, and then
finally by a company everyone knows, Chris Craft.
But back to rotting boat wood...

Pacemaker made aft cabin motoryachts, three stateroom, in lengths of 57, 62 and 66. Gorgeous old style motoryachts with big long hoods,
and made out of wood until the early 70's until they converted over to fiberglass. Beautiful floating homes, though with almost flat hull not a good sea boat
like a Hatteras or a Bertram. In the early days, it was glass over wood. And boy did their wood have rot issues.
Pacemakers were known as rotters. But the later all fiberglass boats were and still remain classic motoryachts of the 70's.

My late wife and I went on a 62, she fell in love with it, all that room, formal dining room, etc, etc, not thinking of upkeep at all, that was my problem.
I went over to inspect one window in the long main salon, everything encased in very pretty varnished teak. I rested my hand on the window sill, which was about five inches deep, and my thumb just went right through the top of the wood. I slowly pulled my hand back with wide eyes, my wife saw what was happening, and we looked each other in the eye and without saying a word headed for the door out. I felt bad about putting a hole in this guy's boat, and told the listing broker. Not like I was poking a screwdriver in the wood as some would do.

even when boats got rid of all wood entirely, they still had problems with end sealing various plies of fiberglass strata. Sea Ray had a huge problem with their honeycomb fiberglass boats for a few years. So in wood water often wicks up, and in fiberglass problem typically is water seeping in from above or sideways, in between layers, usually where hull is drilled for equipment installation.

Now if Mostly's seat sat on a support where water pooled, that would sure rot it out. Can't tell top or bottom of wood, rain water getting in would rot top, wicking or sitting in water from bottom. Mostly, top or bottom rotted?

Paella for dinner turned out well, my house guests are happily watching tv while I call it a day.

Good morning. Caught a brief glimpse of the moon last night as the clouds parted for a few seconds to reveal a stunning harvest moon. Max was out with me and couldn't work out what I was enthusing about, he was far too interested in following the trail of a little black cat that has been hanging around recently. I think he would have been outraged if I told him I have been been encouraging it to stay around with offerings of chicken and fish skin.

Drew, I had a look around to see if I could find the Iskeki branded version of the Massey 1230 you are considering. Iseki always seem to be very helpful at making operator and service manuals available. If you go to this website http://www.ransomesjacobsen.com/europe-manuals/ and select TF325 under "Model out of production", you can download anything you want from this list for free.
