good morning all.
rainy weather coming in, showers start shortly and run through tomorrow.

It's really surprising how much rain parts of Texas are getting. Yet our West is having a terrible drought.
RNG, I saw where near you Lake Oroville was pulling most of the houseboats out since the water level was so low they were going to get stuck there.

up in middle of night with sore shoulder but expected that, put ice on it and slathered it with CBD oil. One or both helped.
So while I was up at 2am I worked on a resume/experience list for school board I'm about to join. Have zoom meeting with Head of school this morning as last
part of interview process. I'm glad they are doing their due diligence.

going to be a quiet day in rain and wind. Need to vacuum and find out where large black ants are getting into house. Not many but I don't like any bugs in the house.
I watched a Youtube video about the lake and houseboats etc. Amazing how much the level has dropped. Almost inconceivable. Expected to drop another 30 feet or so this year. Hope you guys get some rain before it gets disastrous. Video was from a TV news item.

The highest level of Lake Oraville this rainy season was only about 730 feet. For reference, the top of the dam is at 900 feet. And several times since I moved here in 2010, the reservoir has been full. 730 feet is the lowest peak on record. We could very well be below 600 feet by October or November, unless it starts raining sooner. I’ve seen 625 feet in previous years.

here’s a link to a database that shows the last 16,000 days of elevation levels. It varies a lot from peak to valley. The lake level is falling about 20 feet per month right now. By October, that’s another hundred feet below where it is now. That would be the lowest I’ve ever seen it, and it may not start raining before November.

Pretty layered sky colors this evening.
Just got back from Houston, (7 hour round trip) the windshield wipers were going the entire 3.5 hour drive home.
Attended a funeral for a favorite in-law’s mother.

Pineapple upside down cake was delicious even if a bit strange.
Put it altogether early in the morning so it would be ready to bake at start of dinner and ready to eat during Hand & Foot break. We always take a break after the 150 point meld.
The cake batter sorta seeped under the pineapple so was more a pineapple in the middle cake. So delicious made with fresh vs canned.

Guys won again in H&F which didn’t do anything positive for our reputations, but the girls did very good last meld, so ended on a happier note.

good morning all
68 out now going up to 80 today in more showers this afternoon.
.83 inches of rain yesterday and last night but no high winds so just a good soaker.
Tomorrow it's like summer begins in earnest, stretch of 90 degree days and drying out.

Got absolutely nowhere yesterday trying to buy a mower. No Kubotas, John Deere or Simplicity's in stock.
Remarkable actually, dealers not happy at all not having any inventory.
Thankfully my old friend with the coffee business isn't using his JD 345 much at home after his son bought a zero turn.
So...he will loan me this nice older mower until mine comes in, spec'd identically to what I'm trying to buy, with power steering and a Kawasaki
engine, though his is liquid cooled. I wonder if anyone has done a study to see if the more premium liquid cooled engines last longer
than air cooled. Liquid cooled and fuel injected would be the best, but not sure anyone makes that, likely too expensive for a mower gas engine.

am off to PT early this morning, then supermarket and likely a quiet afternoon while the rain comes down.

had a pleasant chat with owner of rental house next to me, currently occupied by a nice lady who hasn't mowed her lawn all year. Sigh.
Well apparently at least three neighbors called this guy, who confirmed it was, like for me, the tenant's job to mow the lawn and no he didn't want
a field of weeds either. So he came yesterday himself with his Gravely z turn and mowed the lawn, having to rake up clippings for quite a while.
I bet he doesn't let it get like that any more. This is simply not an area where the natural look is acceptable, much less two foot high weeds. Nothing but
a haven for snakes and ticks. When he was done the emails flew between neighbors saying Yeah!

Drinking first cup of coffee. 59° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 84° with partly cloudy skies. Got shopping done yesterday. Very few people at stores. Mowed lawn in afternoon. Going to do wash house windows today. Before it gets warm outside.
Not going to share with you.

Good morning, low temp high 79°F mainly sunny. Wind W 3 mph.

Junior has a meeting this morning with the hospice people regarding whether or not his wife stay there or comes home. It seems that the pill form diuretics aren't working and now they are giving injectable diuretics. The main thing is to get her weight down which is mostly water, which will improve her mobility.

It looks more promising for me to go to work this weekend than it has in the past two weeks. As of yesterday the clutch and transmission were back in the truck, now they just need to hook up the drive shaft, grass burner exhaust and the stick. If it is in fact ready, then I will go down on Sunday morning and transfer my stuff after I sanitize the entire cab and take pictures of how filthy it is inside. It is funny, but in fall I leave the truck clean and in spring I get it back filthy, so this time I am taking pictures of it.

It looks like Momma Cardinal is already getting a little selfish. :ROFLMAO:

Was the pineapple in the middle cake made with pineapple juice instead of water?

.35" of rain might as well be zero rain for all the good it does. Just a p.i.t.a. when you are driving in it. Wipers on, wipers off and so on.

Other than the meeting today, I will be getting the stuff in the garage ready for the trip south.

Have a safe day all

63° right now...high in the upper 70's today.
We had a nice steady rain last night...probably try to mow the lawn this afternoon. Got the belts I need for the flail mower, so that's a task too. Not sure I've got the strength or stamina for that job yet...

Slowly recovering...could actually eat something yesterday. Got to watch what I eat as the stomach is still pretty sensitive. Strength is improving too, but I think I'll pass on any arm wrestling for a while

Good morning, we have been enjoying dry weather all week, spent last couple of days rubbing down old paint on windows, going to try Osmo oil this time, only problem is deciding which shade to go for.

Wngsprd, I call them broken tile corn chips.

Don, you are too modest, those shapes are surely carefully crafted countries of the world - I see South America, India, Iceland (under heavy volcanic ash cloud) ...

You want adventure, try sushi for breakfast two days running at a motorcycle rally 😳😂

We have just been worming the lambs. There are a couple of doses left if you feel something wriggling inside. :)

69 and light rain, going to 84...storms passed by us yesterday, but got a good lightning show.

Great sky pic, Don...and thanks for posting the corn chips pic. Based on the ingredients, bet they were delicious.

Roy, good you're taking it slow.

Sushi and pineapple upside down cake...making me hungry!

Looks like my splitting wood under the phobe nest was tolerated...female left another egg after I left. Now up to 3, maybe 4 when I check later today.
