Good evening all. 2115, scattered clouds, 77 with 85% humidity. Forecast low for tonight is 63, the coolest of the year to date. No rain to speak of today, just a couple of sprinkles.

Margie and I spent the day in Panama City. Shopping and eating. She likes one, and I like the other.

60 degrees right now...bit overcast. High is going to be about 75 and probably some rain.

Supposed to meet a former co-worker today...just to shoot the breeze. He got laid off the same day I did...surprised me he got laid off as he had 20+ years at the company.

So, what did you buy while she was having lunch? :D
Low 50's but warming up for a few days before getting back to normal.

59* at 8am, that was probably the low too since we had clouds and rain. Just a nice gentle drizzle to wet the garden down and settle the dust.

Should clear off and warm up this afternoon.

Roy, you can probably get some insight and such from your co-worker. I hope you get re-called this fall.

So do I...but it's extremely unlikely. Apparently, the company has been bleeding profusely more then we were aware of.

Supposed to have a little 8'x10' snap-together resin shed delivered today. I'm going to set it beside the power pole that has my main breaker for my wellhouse. I intend to put my two generators into that shed with attachments so I can use one to run my well pump circuit and the other to supply my house through a GenerLink 50 amp meter base. Each generator is 10kW. This setup will get them easily hooked up when I have long power losses and will get them about 50' from the house inside a shed for quiet running. I will have to do some venting (in and out) for the generators, but don't expect that to be much. This shed is large enough that I can put both generators in there and my lawn mowing equipment. If I ever need more space, I'll add the kits that come in 2-1/2' segments. I can go to 15' with this shed if needed. I have several of this companies deck boxes and they take the sun very very well. They are the right color and will never rust or need painting. I just don't think the fire hazard from fuel or the generators is enough to worry about. I don't need a generator often, but when I do, it will be nice to not have to drag them out and then run extension cords all over the place. I can make one connection at the meter and another at the well box and then control loads with my normal breaker boxes.

It's gonna be another hot day here. No rain is predicted for over a week. Right now it's 70 F, which is a pleasant morning.

Drank my coffee for the day. 63° with light clouds this morning. Heading to 87° with a chance of thunderstorms. Not much to do today. Except to stay out of sun.

Oh. That's a shame. Vermont Castings has enjoyed such a solid reputation for good stoves for years and years. Maybe a few missteps with their early catalytic lines in the early '90s, but even those stoves were real heaters. I know they have been through some corporate re-configurations--sales mergers or the like--over the past 10 or 15 years.

Could it be a potential employee buyout situation? The brand recognition is there, the talent, don't know how modern the facilities are, Vermont is a "brand" in itself that helps. The increasing use/availability of natural gas isn't going to help, but the grilling, wood pellet segment and traditional stoves will always have a market if a company can be competitive.

Roy, how old is the CEO? It seems the older types may be more traditional in their approach to business and also conservative to a fault. Some of the older guys have just lost the incentive to compete and look at new marketing opportunities. The younger guys seem to have little to lose, and figure they can move on to another company. Many times, the guys who are in their early 50s make the best CEOs because they are aggressive and want the company to succeed plus have that success on their resume. How well the sales/marketing department head and the CEO communicate is also an important factor. You many not have been there long enough to know all the details, but your co-worker should surely know the attitudes that prevail after 20 years there.
