How close to mountains?

We are right at 6915' in elevation. Mountains to the north of us are about a mile as the crow flies. Mountains to the west are about 10 miles, but they are much higher (10,500').

I bet Don has some great senior dancers in his neighborhood.

Oh yes, and some great teachers and classes. There is even a group of Rocketts, cloggers, and line dancers. When my knee was still a little good we took a class. Covid stoped it for a while. As soon as I recover completely (and then some) I'll have no excuses, by that time covid will be a non-issue also. The slow dance class was "Quick Quick Slow Slow" (two quick steps -two slow steps) sounds easy till you start incorporating turns and side by sides. I saw a line dance class going on while cards was going on, Just too much to do here. Everything is shut down today though, except the golf course is open for walking and that is where Whipper will have her walk. The roads are iced over and I do not need to see how the new $150K knee bounces - good call to close the county today.

this thing goes pretty fast and just keeping up is sometimes hard I think for all of us.
so wondering how they moderate, one person, a team? I'm all for it.

Don, I don't think there's anything about a line dance that should get pulled, except my back.
I always wanted to go to a Texas dance hall and watch a room full of folks dancing away.
I'm quite happy to watch and tap my foot.

To see a husband and wife in their 80's or 90's still flying around the dance floor, well
that has to be one of life's little blessings.

Buppies, snow is melting here, going to be a muddy swamp by tomorrow. Then a hard freeze.
That ought to get my flagstone walkway heaving every which way.

Good morning to all! Low of -5°, lower than predicted. It is now 0° at 07:30. Going up to 20°.

I would normally be very excited to go outside, fire up the tractor, and have fun plowing the snow...... I'm just not feeling it yet....
I did clear the porches and walkways manually .... now I'm tired.

Mostly, sorry to hear about your BIL, prayers sent for the family.

Gonna go clear the snow off the greenhouse roof.... then take another break.

I was thinking of planting several apple trees here so I could be true to my avatar.
And then I reminded myself I live less than a mile away from two different apple orchards.
Both of whom keep me well supplied.
I don't want to attract deer so will think of something else to plant out back. Like a nice big weeping willow for the wet trench area.

Just checked the power outages in the area of the 28,800 service meters there are 0 without power.
If I go out the garage and take a quick right I'll be able to walk Whipper on the golf course without stepping on a paved area. I just need to take a hammer along to free up the ice covered latches on the back gates.

Kekoa and Makani off to Vet this morning. Makani gets his staples removed. Both get semi annual checkup and shots. I don’t think they get alligator jab. Makani too young at 19 months and Kekoa just turned 5 yo.

Probably stop in Safeway while in town. Need to make PO run but likely be closed (11am) by time of return.

Will pressurize and fire up hot water heater later.

26F with steady snow @ 11:30, was very fine but starting to see bigger flakes now. Windy enough that snow is coming down horizontal at times.

Rained most of yesterday afternoon/evening and we had a reasonable amount of melting with the gravel showing through in the driveway in spots. Was still rain coming down when I went out to pick up the pizza last night.

Woman went out and played in the packed frozen snow and ice on the driveway up here around the house, was out there for several hours. I went out and opened the new 5 gallon pail of ice melter which it turns out she did not need since there was enough rock salt left.

Got hopper and two sunflower tube feeders filled day before yesterday, plus two suet feeders. Also five scoops of corn put in the deer feeder. Not much activity out there yesterday (except for the deer feeder) ... so feeders still have seed in them. Expect they will need to be refilled by day's end though:

Refilled suet feeder at window over kitchen sink this morning as Woman reported there were birds out there looking for food. They were on it as soon as I rehung it.

Plant tending and fish room maintenance on agenda for today, plus some emails, bill payment scheduling and paperwork. Also house cleaning.

just read our local power company, the very large PECO, is changing their label and look. All new fonts.
Means all their outdoors stuff will get changed, all their letterheads, caps, truck lettering, you name it. What a bonanza for the
suppliers. Apparently PECO is getting split off from a parent conglomerate. Usually it's follow the money and who is trying
to milk equity out of the company.
