I’m sitting on the deck now, watching birds get situated for the night, 78 and a touch humid, breeze is great. Headed to the fridge for a Mikes Hard Lemonade.
Pileated woodpecker hammering away about 80 yards over.

Well it’s been awhile and you guys are speeding up. Still 170 post behind. Was over 400 but more time lately.

Made it to 90 today but humidity while increasing still bearable. Lows in mid 70’s. Rain chances for next week that’s good and you’ll see why in a few.

Birds are gone more come in a week.

Did spring oil change on both tractors. Massey is at 54xx hours and Kubota over 900. Kubota is a 2015 model.

Lost a former vocational ag teacher a few weeks back. He was 46. He hurt his back over spring break. Then during the healing process fell at home. Then was bed ridden for a couple of weeks. Doctors thought he developed pneumonia but that turned out to be a misdiagnosed blood clot. The blood cot is what ended up killing him. He was still an active teacher in another county here. He was the teacher that jump started my FFA involvement. He signed for me to join his class without the prerequisite as long as I took it the following year. I was wanting out of the vocational program I was in at the time. Spent 4 years in his classes. Hadn’t seen him since right after my oldest was born. Wife also had him for 3 years.

Hay season not going as planned. The cutting and bailing tractor has puked a clutch. Dealer comes Monday to get it and change clutch. That’s why rain next week is good. Should be back by end of week. 1 farm cut and baled. 2 more to go. Although that farm had to be custom baled.

Many of you going back to work on light duty. I’m also on light duty. Went to doctor with abdominal pain and swelling. He thought I had hernia but those test came back negative but he sent me to a surgeon anyways. Surgeon thought it was my gallbladder. He was right. Depending on where your information comes from your gallbladder is supposed to work 35-80% or 40-60%. Well either way mine was working at 97%. Basically a big muscle spasm. So that was removed Tuesday laparoscopically. I didn’t handle the anesthesia well and had some pvc’s, heart rate and O2 problems. That all straightened out when the narcotics wore off. But it was enough for me to see a cardiologist and he didn’t see any reason for concern. Called everything side effects. But it also gave them a reason to force the sleep study on me. So I go Tuesday for a sleep study for sleep apnea. Wife’s happy. I was trying to avoid it because of my CDL. Adds lots of regulations. I’m on a 20 pound weight limit and missing a gallbladder. One incision is bruising really bad below it. Wife’s having a fit about that. I’m having trouble getting up and down. Really sore changing positions. Fine once I get in a position (standing, sitting or laying).
Probably not taking it as easy as I should but I’m the boss. I don’t get sick days. When I call in sick, myself tells me to get off my ***** and go to work. When an employee calls in sick the boss gets to tell someone else to do that job. See the difference.

Drew nice potato harvest.

Roy you might have found a grill already but here is what wife gave me for Christmas. IMG_1399.JPGIMG_1398.JPG

Well Don, lost one golf ball in a poison ivy infested treeline. Forget where the other one went.. After all, tournament was for Alzheimer's....

You funny guy you... ;)

Harvey, so glad to hear you two are still finding the higher life. Hope your home sells easily. Tell Glenda howdy from Giddings.

Had my oldest's birthday party tonight. She wanted it to be a "fishing" party, so I took them on a hayride over to the pond. The first girl caught a bass in 3 seconds on her first cast. Another caught a nice one, and then the tangles began. I was so busy untangling, putting on new plastic, re-stringing, teaching, I haven't been that busy since I waited tables in college......I'm actually glad that 3 girls didn't make it to the party.

Drew, so you're having an underlying tasty food competition with the ladies....I love shrimp. Can you get really good fresh shrimp easily where you are? There was a place on Clear Lake, south of Houston that had the best shrimp, steamed with beer and served up hot in a bamboo basket. Holy cow they were good. Fried works for me too.

Billy, beautiful waterfall pic. How cold is that water? Can you bring me a truckload please? I won't tell anyone anything about intrabasin water transfer.

Farmer, prayers for you to get better. I'm with your wife, don't let a seemingly small thing become a big thing. sorry about the narcotics hitting you so hard. PVC's are horrible.

You have a hard boss but I'm sure you will find a soft side to him too if you keep looking. Keep asking nicely while you are on light duty and I'm sure he can come up with a way for you to take it a little easier longer term ;) . Hope you feel better soon. Did the chickens appreciate the extra windows ?

Kyle, that sounds like a fun fishing party, you are a braver man than me to take so many fishing at once ! You did well if they all got home without unplanned ear piercings. :)

Good morning all. A mostly sunny day coming up for us with just the occasional wisp of non-threatening cloud and once more only a very light wind. Unless sitting in the sun they predict it won't go above 20C/68F today and that's about as good as it gets for me.

Canada thistle is the plant dominating my life at the moment. I have 2 fields where it has almost been eradicated by using competion from ungrazed grass and where I now take out the survivors by spot spraying. In the other fields it's running riot this year. Yesterday I started to cut the tallest that are coming into flower and then the plan is to try rolling the regrowth. The frame on the Cambridge roller I was given has corroded over the years where water has collected in the V of the angle iron. It didn't look too bad until I gave it a blast with the pressure washer to clean off the moss. Today I will grind away the worst of the rust and see if I can find any steel to weld. Last night I started chipping away - and could soon see the sunset through the holes in what was once 1/4 inch thick steel. At least when it rains the water will now drain away, only problem is that there's nothing much left holding the bearing end caps in place.

New wellies passed the waterproof test.
