Air frying corn taco shells is tricky - too long they are brittle, too short they are limp, just right they are too hard. Cracked my tooth on one last night on the way to my old dentist 2 hr drive low tire warning came on. Fast forward to now have a temp crown and waiting in discount tire for flat repair. Long day.

Randy I like okra baked covered with a cornmeal and spice mixture using the okra’s own slime as the batter to get the dry mixture to stock to it with a side of ketchup.

David, still trying to get to loading my new 13 drawer tool chest. This evening there is a concert in the pavilion, so maybe tomorrow.

Well Don, with your new lifestyle you just might wait as long to use those tools.

Here is the dentist pill pack he gives after a big procedures. According to him and his patients it works better than prescription drugs for tooth pain.View attachment 560128

Don, be mindful of the total Tylenol dosage . I believe it can be potential harmful to your liver.

I might need some advice on how and what to replace. The bike has been out of service for 20 years.

Instead of trying to refurbish something that old, give some thought to just replacing it. By the time you put new tires, sprockets, chains, seat, etc. on it, you'd be a fair way toward getting something with better derailleurs, a more comfortable saddle, and all new wearing components. I'll defer to Mostly and other guys that are current the latest bicycles, though. I haven't ridden seriously in almost ten years, and a LOT can happen in that much time!

I will have to say goodbye to my name @iee.org, and find a new provider. I don't mind paying if it gets me a secure service that is ad free and independent of whoever supplies our broadband in the future. Hopefully one that will still be around right up to when the day comes when I can no longer type. Anyone used ProtonMail.com ?

I have an email account at hover.com that lets me use an email address of firstname@lastname.com. I've had it a very long time, and though the service has changed names several times, the email address continues to work as long as I pay the bill. I have it set up to forward any email that address gets to the same address that gets all my other email.

Looks like the fire season has started big time in northern CA. Hopefully they can get a handle on it before it takes out more houses. RNG...are there fires near you?

Almost every day now, Ted. One already right across the canyon caused by a careless camper. Lots of others within ten miles of here as well, but so far all have been controlled pretty quickly. The Pawnee Fire in Lake County is at 11,000 acres now, and even though it's 100 miles southwest of here, yesterday afternoon the smoke was thick enough to shut out the sun. One fire up near Redding was started by an arsonist, more than five fires over a ten mile stretch of road, that then merged into the Creek Fire. It's at 1350 acres now, and has caused evacuations of a lot of people and several lost buildings. Fireworks are pretty much illegal everywhere out here, but that doesn't stop people from setting even more fires as the holiday approaches. My place is in pretty good shape this year, but I'm still keeping my hoses ready and keeping my eye on the various groups on Facebook that track firefighting activity.

Good Evening!!!! 90F @ 6:30PM. Clear skies. Low 63F. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph.

Got up early to telephone an east coast supplier of exhaust system components. The VW mechanic thought he needed a flex fitting, and purchased one, but it was carbon steel and it made no sense to weld it into the otherwise all stainless system on the van. When I read the description of the part he ordered, it did say stainless steel, so I really can't fault him too much for their false advertising. I was able to find a couple of all stainless steel options, but by then he'd found a work around that didn't require one, and by then I'd moved on to feeding the hummers and getting busy out in the garage. Got the mount for a big Givi tail trunk mounted to the rack of the Honda Trail 90 and it'll work out nice. Found another mount on Amazon for the Yamaha so I can switch the trunk to either one. Hope if fits; that tail trunk is probably forty years old, but it's still a Monokey and the description sez it'll work...:confused3:

Anyway, after all that I remembered I hadn't posted here yet today, and it took extra long to catch up with you all you've been so busy.

If you're going to look at new look at Electric. I've had my E MTB for 18 months now and lead a recreational riding group of about 60 to 70. (mixture of electric and non) We ride local tracks/paths/footpaths (try and stay of roads) each week and additionally other towns within 150km distance. Friday Ive organised a ride on an old rail bed, through a geothermal area (dodge the steam and boiling mud but can't get away from the smell) and out to a redwood forest. Lunch and then return. A couple of us are in our eighties, most others 60 and 70s.

See if there is a recreational group in your area and if not start one.

Good evening all. 79F this morning, partly cloudy and wind already going. wind picked up, sky was partly cloudy to almost clear, and high temp of 98F. putter first thing, then bike ride, lunch nap and dog sitting. Tomorrow test ride on what may be our new boat.
Don, not sure how comfy your bike is or how much wear it has. If the bike was not stored sitting on the tires, then they may not be bad, inflate them and look for cracks. Assuming the bike was not stored in weather, chain cables etc will not degrade with age. I don't lube brake or shift cables, if the cables don't move smoothly, replace cable and housing. lube up the chain with 30W rotated the crank for a couple of minutes the wipe the chain almost dry. Derailleur get light machine oil on pivot points, and shift through the range relube , shift again, and wipe down. Check brake pads for wear and wheels for trueness. I would replace the rim strips the next time you replace the tires, don't forget a spare tube and tire patch kit. It is easy to change out seats if the current one is no longer usable. Your butt will let you know. I like synthetic grease for wheel bearings. Bike stand may be of interest and the local riders can tell you who is a good mechanic. New bikes are mostly about saving weight, great if you are racing but expensive if not. The most reliable and durable derailleur sets are in the mid price range, high end stuff is all about weight reduction. Since weight is the most important factor when climbing ( 5% grade and up). My bike shop has a service called bike overhaul for $120 plus parts for example.
prayers for all.

Good info on the bike.

David I thought liver damage was from overdose of Tylenol or taking more than 10 days for pain.

A blue sky again and set to rise to 28C/82F today. Certainly not wishing for rain just yet as baler is not due to come until Thursday, but the sheep would certainly appreciate one of CWB's cool starts to the day.

Got an email this morning to say the engineering institution I've been a member of for many years will be terminating the email service I've always used for the important contacts like banks and utilities.

I have an account with riseup.net - you should check them out. They have webmail though I use it with the email client of my choice.

Their focus is privacy and anonymity. They have free email service and then paid services for more security minded things.
