Good morning all, 56 going to 78 and sunny. Slept in this morning, never set an alarm and just woke up today at 5:45. Going to start checking the wiring going to the lathe. Have a friend coming over to help if I need it, if not we will just play with the lathe.

Eric prayers for your friend.

David, be careful and prayers sent.

Have a great day, prayers sent. Ed

71 going up only to 84 today, Roy if you sent this nice weather down here, thanks!
It's just beautiful out there.

Finally a dry day, walked length of driveway with roundup, killing grass and getting ready to
seal coat it. Already weedeated the heavy grass back, edges pretty torn up, now one last repair coat
and then the top coat. 30 5 gallon buckets. Two helpers who will do the brushing and squeegeeing, I'm going to hold
the piece of plywood along the edges protecting the lawn. I'll be the backstop...
Have been watching Youtube videos on how to do this.

now for five hours of mowing, think I'm going to put my wrist braces on and see if that helps.
I call it my Michelin Man look...

Poured first cup of coffee. 52° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 81° with mostly sunny skies. Long day yesterday. I slept until almost 7 am this morning. Lots of walking and 400 miles round trip. A detour took us for a pleasant trip though Amish country. Way to many people to enjoy the flea market. Did stop at a local grocery store. Had to take a picture Clydesdale horse and some peppers. No plan for today.

David, you and Sophie be safe in the storm.

Ed, good luck with wiring your lathe. I did find a wiring diagram for one using the data picture you posted. But cannot find it this morning.

Good Morning All.

What size is the lathe motor? How do you disconnect the start capacitor once the motor starts? There might be a relay in the static converter that drops out the start cap. The start cap will be larger than the others.

Here is the simple drawing I found. http://www.phase-a-matic.com/images/Static_Phase_Converter_3_Phase_1.jpg
Looking inside mine the wiring was that simple. The little box includes capacitors and relay.
From your diagram, there should be a starting larger capacitor across either A-B or B-C. The relay should drop this capacitor out once the motor starts. Then there are smaller capacitors between A-B and B-C that will change the phase with respect to incoming to simulate 3 phase.

15 inches of rain predicted for much of Hawaii...have step sister Lisa my age near Honolulu, she was pretty worried and stocking up.
sure will wash David's roof guttering system more than it needs, for sure his tanks will be filled up. Here's where you hope that nice hard volcanic rock and soil doesn't wash away easily. Sometimes it's good to be up top...
Cat 4 now, and I bet we will soon hear of some fool sailor paying no attention to the weather having to be rescued by
the Coast Guard who risk their necks constantly for fools. Which we all are at some point. For something. ;)
Prayers for David and Sophie and their critters and friends there.
