Good morning!!!!

55 and rain has stopped, going to 70.

Thomas, you are doing all the scratching work in the leaves for those turkeys. :)

Drew, I'll start my tractor shopping today and let you know my preference. I didn't buy a ticket for last night's drawing, but might get one today myself.

Got a couple of hours of mowing done yesterday. Did most, but still too wet in some places. Looks like a false spring affecting some plants...one branch of a lilac is blooming, some of the pear tree branches are opening new leaves, the asparagus bed is sending up new stalks...fooled by warm and wet conditions...they will learn the truth tonight at 37 and tomorrow night at 34 degrees.

Son is bringing over his Chesapeake Bay retriever today for a week of dogsitting. His dog lived with us for a year and is the reason we got our own CBR, Coconino. I'll be throwing tennis balls and frisbees with both arms. :)

Looks like it rained sometime, a little warmer today before what might be the first official frost come Friday.
Hate to give up my shorts!
Moving a building today so I have to get going. Have a great day folks. God bless.

Good morning all

31 and going to a high of 37F. Wind WNW 18 mph. 40% chance of flurries.

You guys in Texas, try to stay dry. NEVER underestimate the power of moving water.

The guy that was supposed to come and erect the portable shelter 'says' he will be here in the afternoon. We'll see.

A new air filter and cabin filter for the Dodge set me back $104.oo yesterday. I can get the cabin filter off amazon for about $10.oo, so I guess Chrysler just priced themselves right out of my wallet.
It doesn't look like the air filter has been changed all that often, so that is maybe why I cant seem to get any more than 26 mpg. Either an upgraded filter box or just go to a K&N permanent filter like I have on the Jeep may be the way to go.

Have a good day all

Good morning. We are used to waking up to the sound of woodpeckers. This morning though the tap-tap-tap is slightly less frenzied as it is coming from a concrete pecker, demolishing what is left of the old dairy site a few hundred yards away. After that they will be clear to start building 70 houses, which will be a big change to this area as at the moment there are only a handful off this road.

Hope everyone makes the most of whatever the day brings their way.
That is sad to read. Moving to the suburbs from a farm can be stressful. I think it's even worse when the suburbs envelop a farm.

Do you have or have you thought of getting a Hyper Pet Ball Launcher ?

Our son has a Labradoodle that would want to fetch balls until both my arms fell off. Of course when my arms got tired my accuracy decreased. With this I can accurately place a tennis ball about 100 feet away. It's also good for getting throw bags over branches.

And now my arms outlast the pooch. And the handy feature of being able to pick the ball up without fulling bending over is great also.

Drew, thanks for the offer if you win. I will make the same offer. But have remember to buy. Tractor I have now is perfect. But I could use a UTV like Kyles FIL got.

51 degrees this morning, going for a high of 55 with an 80% chance of rain; mainly after 10 a.m. according to the NWS. Have to go to the DFW Airport this afternoon to pick up my wife's sister coming for about a 10 visit from West Virginia. That airport is not one of my favorite places to visit, even in dry weather. But at least it's not miserably hot this time of year.

Good Morning!!!! 67F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. High 78F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

A heart felt get well soon to all of you and family members dealing with "issues". Getting old isn't for sissies, is it.:(

You seem to have your expectations appropriately set, Drew: Don't expect anything and you won't be disappointed. Maybe it's a German cultural thing; BMW is very much the same way, denying any hint of a problem and blaming the customer for obvious design and manufacturing shortcomings. Just because you pay more doesn't mean you get more, especially when it comes to modern BMW products. Hope it's better with Audi, especially in your case.

Glad the floods aren't effecting you there, Don. You chose well when you picked Sun City!

There's a little door over the rear bumper trailer hitch that can be removed to access the hitch pin. Somebody screwed up, though and the door isn't centered over the hitch. So I cut about 5/8" off the door and welded it onto the bumper yesterday, and now the door is as wide as the license plate and perfectly centered under it. It was about that time that I discovered that the hole for the hitch pin was 3/4" and all my receiver hitches use a 5/8" pin. Never even heard of there being different sized pins. Both front and rear bumpers have receivers on/in them, so today I'll machine up reducing sleeves and get them tack welded into place. That rear bumper is held on by two steel arms that extend forward and parallel with the van's frame. VW used a heavy steel "C" section stamping for the little sheet metal bumpers they provided, and the fabricator tried to copy their design. But he used rectangular tubing and cut off the wide side of the rectangle so it would go into the holes in the van. Then welded a pair of nuts on each for the bolts that secure the bumper in place. Once I looked closely at that bit of butchery, I noticed a weld between the nuts, apparently to add more length to the piece of channel, and that part of the weld wasn't, er, welded! So I ground off the paint and fixed that, then made up a pair of plates to close over the open side of the "C", doubling the strength of the arms. The rear receiver will get a motorcycle carrier, and the thought of those flimsy "C" sections taking that weight had me cringing. More "constructive criticisim" headed back to the fabricator this morning. Finished up with the 7" flapper wheel on the angle grinder to smooth over all of the welds, some of which were really cobby. Then went over the whole thing with 80 grit on the D/A sander, and it's ready for the bed liner. All except for the sleeves in the hitch pin holes. The front bumper will get the same treatment today, and depending how long that takes, maybe get the bed liner on both. We'll see.

Happy Hump Day folks!

41°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 61° today. The stars were bright and clear when I was taking out the trash this morning. I don't hate that.

Guy I was supposed to meet up with yesterday had a schedule change, so we're rescheduled for today.

I hate the idea of suburbia overtaking good productive farmland, Eric. Sorry you're going to be crowded in like that.

My long-standing policy regarding any substantial lottery winnings is simple; as soon as I have check in hand, I am officially retired. Not another day will be spent working for someone else. I have a new tractor, Drew, so you can skip me.

DFW has always been my favorite airport to travel through, Bird. It is very efficient at moving people. No idea what it's like to visit from the outside, though. I passed through it a lot when I worked for the pipe organ company.
