Good morning Everyone!!!

A 30F start to the morning with mixed wintry precipitation. Now a 33F with rain and freezing rain mixing into the mix. Ice still continue to build on tree branches. Fog is over the snowpack. Hot fresh coffee sure smells/tastes good after the tour of the perimeter. Considering the weather the footing is pretty decent outside off road.

Farmer- I hope your child is in recovery mode.

Drew- Thanks for sharing your "before" picture. A really nice looking tractor. I wish you two many boring and uneventful hours together.

Randy- Gracie is one beautiful girl. Does she ever let Daddy win?

"First comes the next weekend could be snowy the the oscillations that control are weather tun positive all at once good predictor of storm? cold in the east till changes start and by the upcoming weekend good size storm for east coast up to Maryland maybe all the way up the coast. Depends on timing maybe snow or mixed bag depending on where you are.? Buppies

Buppies- What is interesting is the degree of agreement among the different models this far out in time. I like the models maps. This system if it does come together seems similar to many of last year's storms impacting more on the MidAtlantic states than NE. Right now your area is modeled to be in a decent snow zone. I agree it all depends on timing of the fronts, location, and degree of phasing The upper level and lower level jet streams are not in phase at this point. A lot depends on that Alberta Clipper running North of us Thursday/Friday drawing the ULJ and LLJ in phase. We'll see I am sure people will be talking about it.

David- Nice work. Thanks for sharing your project.

Ron- My NH has always had some dirt on it?. Lends character:wink:

".... a dirty tractor is a happy tractor.? Bill The shop cleaned my tractor during its servicing two weeks ago

Kyle- I am happy to read the pain is resolving. Good luck on the 13th. Good looking boy.

RNG- Hang in there.

I hope that everyone is having a decent weekend.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all.

Good morning to all! Low was at 28° this morning with a blanket of white....right now 4" of the stuff, couple more inches coming throughout the morning. Last night at around 9pm, put the dog out for her bedtime routine. The wind had stopped and there wasn't a cloud in the sky, the stars were out in force. I figured the weather guessers were wrong again....fooled me!

Watching the local news, I-40 is shut down due to a couple of semi accidents and numerous other fender benders. Drivers come out of Albuquerque thinking 'the road is just wet' , which it is there at lower elevations. Then they get up in the mountains, rising 3,000' in elevation in about 5 miles... Guess what? That liquid stuff is now ice and packed snow...do they slow down? No....

Since moving out here, we have always joked: "Just throw an ice cube out the window on the highway and there will be a calamity". We grew up learning to drive in ice and snow...use some common sense...slow down...no sudden corrections...minimal or very light braking... You guys in the snow areas...how are drivers these days in your neck of the woods?

Nice light fluffy snow, wifey wouldn't let me go out to clear it... I asked why? I told her that I can lean on my crutch and just swing the broom...nothing wrong with my arms....she wouldn't have any part of it. I was mandated to stay inside and watch from the window.....

Going to stay put today, do a little net surfing, watch TV, play with our last remaining canine friend.

Everyone have a quiet, peaceful day. Prayers and thoughts out for all.

"..... You guys in the snow areas...how are drivers these days in your neck of the woods."- Ted

The drivers down here forget how to drive in the Winter as soon as they believe that Winter is over. The road that runs along our house is steep, narrow, winding, sloped poorly, and catches snow drifts from the open fields and/or snowdrop from all the overhanging trees roadside. A roadside debris field is already forming. Compounding things is grass is still growing down in the CT Valley and we are living in the land of ice and snow 24 miles away.

Not that would advise it, but they make some really nice cane and crutch crampons  I would listen to your Wife.

I would listen to your Wife.
Always an excellent default position...

LS, even though you are thinking about it, don't. Your collective Mothers.

very warm out, everything is dripping with condensation, tractor was all fogged up and drippy in barn.
Which motivated me to get some waxy spray and go hose down the implements that were quietly growing rust under the sheds.
Am I ever going to use that one bottom plow again? I think it's time it went on to a happy new home since I got this big rototiller.
Will keep the subsoiler, can't wait to dig some drainage lines down at end of field where a little water lays if we get more than a few inches.
The weight of the Massey on that subsoiler and I should really be able to sink it down. Now where is that Texas Eastern line?...;)

Was thinking the one bottom plow would work well for RNG digging fire breaks.

Jay, I promise a picture of the shiny tractor after I have rototilled awhile with a reverse rotation tiller.
I'll write your name in the dirt on the hood! :D
Yup, time to get a little mud on the tires, and with another batch of rain coming in, a few days.
2 1/3 inches last night. Ground pretty much soaked it up but it's soft out there.

went out to the garden and just stared at spaces, gauging how much land I'd need to plant what, and very sure I'll have lots of left over space.
guess I should go back and buy some more collard seed. As long as i don't have to pick it, I'm happy to grow it.
Calculated the little greenhouse will hold about 4200 seedlings. That's a lot of manual transplanting...think I might call on reinforcements on planting day. All hands and knees work, takes a long time to crawl down that row...trying to balance what I plant by seedling and what I plant by Earthway push seeder.

67° and 1.14 inches rain last 24 hours, still coming done.
Looks like my hopes to work on my forms a couple hours have washed away. Guess I’ll just watch football.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I'm sure there are holes in your hearts for your loss. My condolences. Take it easy all of you clearing that muck.

My grandfather (who lived in Levitton PA) told me "No one can drive fast on ice" "It is an equation of mass vs. available grip, which is very, very low"

Weather Guessers must have been wanting to do something in the rain. 50° they got that part right. Sun is shining and little to no wind. Needed to come in house before I over did it.
Had to go out and find dog. Third time this week. She cannot find her way back to house after taking care of business. Calling does not get her to return either. Put a 20' leash at back door.

Eric, thanks, at the very least I am well supervised

. . . before cold comes back affecting even Texas.

Let me know a few days before so I can take the citrus into the garage.

Drew the tractor hood looks like a sports car hood or a jet boat bow, it would be hard to push a bunch of brush knowing that a brach might scratch it. Can you get a shot of the roof of the cab, your sun roof.

RNG, I'm afraid that if I saw home I would be in violation of the evacuation after a long hike but would not care.

Yesterday Whipper and I went on a new 3 mile neighborhood trail that had lots of rock cliffs and woods. We were standing next to a 30' cliff overlooking a ravine and she saw someone moving in the tree, probably a squirrel, and started to lunge over the cliff - good thing I had her on a leash, she has not had any experiences with cliffs. She did do a good Underdog taking off flying impression though. . .

Clear skies 58˚ to 68˚ another good day to explore new trails.
I joined the "Hiking Club" not to go on hikes (they start too early all at sunrise) but to help maintain and develop new trails in the neighborhood. The hiking club is the gateway to the development of the trails that the HOA budgets trail money to. They are suppose to call a work day in December and I have my loppers, chainsaw and pick ready. The Club has 500 hikers and about 100 were at the last meeting and each hike has about 30 participants. They have about 20 organized hikes a month from day hikes in the neighborhood and surrounding areas to week hikes throughout the United States. In the neighborhood the trails are either mulch or crushed granite and have good signs and benches and picnic tables. The homeowners decided not to add more golf courses (we already have 3) but to use the open area for wildlife, plants, trees, and trails. Whipper prefers the trails over the golf courses. All these people and yesterday afternoon on a pretty 70˚ Saturday I only saw 5 people on my 3 mile hike.
