We eat out once a day spend about what we would spend at home but neither of us eat a lot it’s just easier

I remember those days back in Atlanta. We had a list or favorite places. Used to joke that the dog knew what day it was by the doggie bag.

There are quite a few "Large Dog" Rescue Organizations. I hope for the best for that beauty.

We go out once/week to the same couple of high quality (i.e. expensive) restaurants with great service and bar operations.. We can usually cobble together another meal or a couple of lunches with the leftovers. We know the waitstaff and they know us and our "quirks" and I tip 25%.

The morning low was 47ºF and it's been a mostly cloudy day. Today's high temperature may be the 62ºF that occurred earlier during a sunny period. Currently 59ºF.

I spent this morning screwing my sad looking wood cart back together again. The frame and axle are 45 years old; some of the wood might be too. It has moved ~70 cords of wood during the past 45 years. With a couple more longer self-tapping galvanized wood screws and a couple of new boards I'll probably get another 10 years of service.

And later I was able to capture this Canadian Tiger Swallowtail.

Time to transplant the basil.

David/Sodamo,
did you ever consider getting an EV car that you could charge from your existing setup?
range isn't an issue for you. Do you have enough excess output to do this?

Drew, not seriously. Just too off put by the prices at this point. Currently still happy with what we have, Sophie’s 2016 Pilot has less than 12k, my 2019 Ridgeline at 20k. But I do read about them and think just a little. With what I presently understand, maybe a plug in hybrid? I do have a friend with a Tesla, but he is on grid. Another off grid friend has 150 Lightning on order so am curious how that works out.
What some people find a bit surprising given our off grid living is I’m not a “Green” guy at all - don’t like the politics. And I find the “greenest” have little to no concept of reality. ( I maliciously hope for them to experience a system malfunction during a grid outage as an educational event)

Regarding EVs.
While I can understand the longterm push to me having a greater emphasis on hydrids seems a logical transition. What am I missing? Seems like a hybrid that could produce 90-95% of its own power with with grid assist would be a win win.

Shame only the front entrance of Odettes still exists.
Leaving cash on the table is still a thing, but we talk to friends whose kids get tips, they consider the credit card tip normal and don't seem to mind it gets counted , since it gets them more tips it seems than people leaving cash did.
Wonder of anyone did a study on cash vs. credit tips, probably a goverment study somewhere...

Sophie’s Mom born and raised in Japan and eating out not really a common thing for her until after all the kids grown and on their own and not too frequent until after her husband passed. When we lived in same town we’d sometimes eat out as small family gathering. We learned, never let Gramma be last to leave the table as she had tendency to ‘correct’ the cash tip and return the excess to whomever left it with admonition it was too much.

The hybrid Berniedoodle dogs don't get as big as Bernies. He paid 8000 dollars for it

View attachment 804288

That explains a lot, the pictures didn’t look much like a Bernese.
Berners are wonderful dogs though. A smaller doodle hybrid could make a great option without the shedding. I would think that it would be an easy dog to place.

I might put a bandaid on it just for fun.

Another car crash in our county with 3 people dead doing what looks like hill jumping on small road near Union Bridge ending up jumping over berm and ending up in a quarry 220 ft deep

View attachment 804273

Sad.
Real close by. I drive that road, know the people who live next to where it happened, and an old friend is the mining engineer for the quarry, though I haven’t seen him in a few years. One of the girls who died is either older sister or cousin to a girl my son went to school with, he wasn’t sure of the exact relationship, but his classmate posted about it on FB.

Good (Tuesday) morning. Overnight Low was a balmy 10.6C and it's presently 15.9C, overcast, calm with occasional rain/drizzle. There was 2.8mm in the gauge at 0900.

So it looks like another 'inside' day, which means getting at the 'project' of transferring my (not so) old mobile phone's data to a new phone that my QLD Mate sent me. He upgrades his mobile every 3-5 years (a phone-plan offer) and sends me his, still current, old phone. This 'new' one is a Samsung S21. I've already downloaded an 'ap' called "Smart Switch" and will just have to trust the instructions.

That's about it, take care all.
