40 degrees, bright blue sky, headed to 59.
I'll take it.

going to take a cup of coffee out and sit in the greenhouse and water. Can't get dirty, nice clothes on for lunch out. Must behave, said the little boy with one foot in the mud puddle...

54° and dense fog this morning. Forecast says 72° this afternoon and rain moving thru overnight.

Our weekend forecast is calling for high winds tomorrow and near freezing for Sunday and Monday mornings.

Plan today is to tear down all the boxes from new lights for recycling. I will also bench test the old fluorescent fixtures to see how many can be repurposed. I can certainly use a couple to add light to the tack room and feed room in our horse barn. Those will only be about 10' high so ..... easy to mount and maintain tubes in the future.

I expect a few may have bad ballasts ....... those will be dis-assembled for trip to metal recycler next week. I did hook one up yesterday to test all the fluorescent tubes that came from the old fixtures. Only two out of 18 were still good.

Thanks to all for the nice comments on our lighting project! I'm planning on adding some 4' LED fixtures, directly over some tools, for next project.

I'm planning on having an excellent Friday and hoping the same for y'all.

Prayers for all.

It was 22° this morning, with a chance of more snow and the wind 20-30 mph, with a high in the low 30's.

Went to SLC yesterday with a neighbor and it ended up being a long day. It started raining just about the time we got to town. We made a few stops and had lunch, then went to his Dr's appointment. It took 45 minutes to go five miles to get back on the interstate to head home. We made it up in to the mountains east of town and the rain changed to snow. We had snow for next 130 miles. Didn't get back to the house tell 9 pm.

It looks like we got about 12 inches out of the storm yesterday. We might get a few more before it's over with. I was going to go to town this morning but might have to move the snow first. I might put going to town off tell tomorrow.

LS ... Do I get a pass on not being here to close the window?

Jay ... Sorry about your fall, hope everything goes well for you.

Hope everyone gets a good start to the weekend.
CWB.

Only 2" of snow last night. Did put vehicles inside this time. So moved ranger back to the barn, windshield still not installed. The large barn door needs spring tightened. I usually prop with a board as a safety. Since i was just putting the ranger in i didnt. As soon as i pulled in the barn, the door came down.

Our forecast was rain, now more snow, ice, then snow, then very cold, down near 0.

Congratulations!

But now that you've sampled the greener grass, Don, how does that Deere compare to your old Kubota?

Enquiring minds want to know!

My first love, the Kubota was far better. This is a smaller tractor but not taking that into account I like the pedal system better on the kubota and also the differential system with a separate bar instead of adding it to the first 3/4" of the break pedal. Kubota had a clutch, JD does not. Kubota has 3 speed ranges JD only two. Kubota wins.

No tiller on the JD only a box blade mostly for weight. It is 4WD. I haven't taken anything to the limit as I was watched closely yesterday as they considered it I was tractor material. They look for smoothness of operation and dual motions - like backing-up and curling the FEL. Basically everything we do on our tractors every time we drive them. There are only two other drivers that I know of and these guys go on lots of vacations, so I will have a lot of seat time.

The guy that would not return my emails or calls and parked the tractor back in the shed full of mud is the one who determines who is in and who is out. While I was going through newbie raised bed orientation he was sweeping out the shed and cleaning the tractor and later we talk for hours. He admitted receiving my resume that I emailed him but he did not have time to respond. He has turned away several potential tractor candidates that did not show a knowledgable use of tractor skills or had trouble getting on the tractor. The average age is 70 out here and there are a lot of people that you have to watch out for walking around the gardens so unless you come with skills it's probably too late to learn them. The biggest use of the tractor is taking mulch to the different areas and also sand and manure and then hauling weeds and vegetation to the compost dumpster. Three wheel barrows are lined up and the FEL dumps into them for the interior beds. There are 350 raised beds.

Yes Ron, the "where to hit" guy should get all the credit.:D

35°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 40° today. Rain is expected to start around 9pm tonight, rain all night, then change over to snow after sunrise on Saturday. Best current guesses are in the 1-3" range ... for now. They've also updated the temperature forecasts; we were supposed to be below zero Sunday night, then it was raised to just above zero, now they're saying mid-teens. Still cold nonetheless.

Dish Network tech came out yesterday and installed all new boxes, and re-aimed the dish from South to East. Guess they have a new satellite. He also installed another line and box in The Wife's sewing room. When she talked with them the other day, they were trying to raise the monthly bill to over $100. She told them we don't watch enough television to make that worth it, and was going to just cancel, so the CSR found a package with only 50 of the most popular channels, added all of the music channels (all I ever use the TV for), added a box for the sewing room, and upgraded all of the equipment (free of charge anyway), and our bill actually went down by about $5/month. Sometimes, complaining does do some good.

Kind of like New Tractor Day for you, eh Don ... er, Tractor Daddy?

Vehicles and youngsters is always a stressful thing, Mostly. Been through that all too many times with the youngest stepson. His Mom gave him her '12 Kia Sorento, instead of trading it in for the new Niro, so he could have a decent vehicle for a change. Took him all of four days to break something, passenger side rear window got knocked off track, and is now held in place with half a roll of duct tape. Last night, he sent a text to her saying his feet are too big for it , and he's thinking about selling it and getting something else. He's had it for a week-and-a-half, and already wants to get rid of it. She was furious, and called him to read him the proverbial riot act.

The fun never ends.

Don, don't know if they have rear weights or some ballast back there but I wouldn't pick up more than mulch with that unless it has
something, 2222 pounds, fairly lightweight tractor, looks bigger than it weighs. OEM loader shouldn't let anyone get in over there head, but
has ballast been discussed?

Good morning to all! Low went to 32-33F. Wet snow, then rain, then sleet, then snow.... Can't decide what it wants to do. That's ok, we can use the rain to continue melting the previous snow remnants. Wind gusts expected to be as high as 60 mph.... I hate wind!!

Claye, I'll forgive you this time for leaving the window open....not too much was able to sneak through. Now if you can turn off that giant fan.....THAT would be most appreciated!

Jay, I hope you are able to rest comfortably today, time to get that good book and sit next to the woodstove!

Don, ...I mean "tractor daddy", glad you got the thumbs up and 'authorization' to operate the tractor. Now it's time to show off....

Well, over halfway through the steroid treatment, the knee swelling is only a little less, but pain has increased a bit. ??? Every treatment either works backwards, or doesn't do anything...I guess it's just a waiting game.

I hope everyone expecting nasty weather stays safe and warm. Be careful if you have to venture out!

Extra prayers sent out for those injured and healing.

65 °F and no rain but some forecast for today.

Bought an 8 cuff poly tub wheelbarrow with 2 tires from our farm supply which is somehow affiliated with TSC.

Sears app that was a bust, still no parts. Supposedly in the postal system somewhere ☹️

Trip to PO is only thing scheduled today.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
