Love the owl pic. I was mowing down in my woods once, looked up and there was a huge owl sitting on a limb right above me. So i drove tractor to the house to grab a camera, and it was gone when i returned. It was probably a bard.

Now, suddenly, they are calling for 2-4" snow tonight. They were pretreating roads on way to work. Yesterday there was 0% of anything in the forecast.

Good morning to all! Low of 36 this morning, going to 58. Very breezy this morning, possibly gust to 35-40 this afternoon. Tomorrow is supposed to be windy again prior to a front coming through. Did I ever mention I hate wind? A very good 80% chance of rain for Saturday night.

Roy, glad Suzette was able to return home and she is getting back to 'normal', as best she can. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Drew, good luck with the CT scan today, more for the ENT visit tomorrow.

My favorite mags were the late 70's 5- slot aluminum. I don't think any manufacturers had them stock. I think I ended up buying 3 sets for 3 different muscle cars I had over the years.

Not much going on for the day, putter about, get on wifey's nerves.....this way she'll tell me to go do something....then I can go hide in the shop:D

Prayers sent for those healing. Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

13ºF was today’s low with 4” of fresh powder snow on the ground; 19ºF now; 24ºF anticipated. A beautiful mostly clear and sunny NE day. Plow guy had to come twice this AM. The first time @ 5:30AM Bonehead Brogen was on tether duty and no way on earth he would respond to verbal commands. Huh you said something? St. B.”s “cognitive processing” is slow on a good day; even slower when they have a different agenda. I’ll call the guy later and tell him to double charge us.

Phil- I am happy to read that you returned hoe safe and sound.

Roy- I am happy to read that Suzette is home and is able to wean off the O2 as quickly as safely possible. I was tethered to one of those O2 machines and O2 tank dependent myself; it takes a while. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Eric- Thanks. I am pretty sure that owl knew that I was watching. It was pretty tolerant to approach when Bonehead and I would walk the perimeter. Wifey and I suspect it was listening for tunneling red squirrels around the feeders. And now, this morning, the red squirrels are tunneling through the fresh snow occasionally popping their heads through the snow taking bearings like those frogmen in the WWII B&W war movies. I hope your wife is feeling better and mending.

…. You shouldn't have to refill bird feeder often w/him or her around.- Thomas. The one time an owl hung out near the feeders during this bird count for the 15 minutes it was there there was 0 animal activity. I am hoping it returns today, but it prefers low light conditions like those pictured.

Actually today is a boring bird count due to the new snow. Morning doves hate powder snow; they come in feathering with tail feathers dragging testing the snow depth looking almost like aircraft carrier landings with the “hook”

Drew- Good luck with the CT scan.

I hope that everyone has a decent day.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

The last day of the month, I'm going to be a little sad to say goodbye to February as this has to have been one of the kindest ever weatherwise for us.

I'm jealous of your February, Eric. I haven't consulted the record books, but my sense is that the month was one of the wettest ever here, and possibly one of the coldest, too. After all, it's not every year that there's snow down to the 1200 foot elevation, even in Northern California, let alone out to the coast and sea level!

The low was 26° this morning. Yesterday was mostly cloudy and in the low 40's. The forecast for today is the same with increasing winds this afternoon. Looks like a chance of snow on Saturday.

I did get the blower and tractor greased yesterday. And spent a few hours working on my welding. I got some vertical welds that look pretty good even after cutting them in half.

Only plan for to day is the weekly trip to town.

Jay ... Nice pic of the owl. I haven't seen one here in a years.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

Good Morning!!!! 45F @ 7:15AM. Overcast. High 51F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.

Today and tomorrow will be cloudy but dry, a pleasant change. But then the rain comes back for another week.:(

It's always a delight to see an owl around here as well, so thanks for sharing, Jay. I've only seen them at night, usually while laying on my back trying to count meteors. The last one flew over me quite low, and gave me something of a start!

Hope they get to the bottom of that bum ear with the CT scan, Drew. And that it's nothing serious...

Good trip to town, and was even able to get an 18" bar and chain for the little saw at the Stihl dealer. Had to go up one width on the chain size, though, so it'll be interesting if the engine can keep up on larger diameter cuts. It would be OK if it can't, as it's supposed to be a limbing saw, but it's one that I'm used to seeing fight well above its weight class.

Before I left, I went out to the garage to see if I could figure which part of the winch control was bad, and in flipping the manual switch back and forth a couple of times, got it to work again. I kept at it, and got it working normally. I'd shot the switch full of DeOxIt a few weeks ago, so maybe that helped, or maybe it was a fluke and today it'll be back to being broken?:confused2: Regardless, I better get the big touring bike off the lift and turned round before that winch decides to go back into hibernation.

I also found more water in the van yesterday, so I'm going to have to fiddle with the skylight some more today. My guess is that the hinges are not allowing the plastic lid to seat fully on the gasket, and hope that either slotting the mounting holes and/or bending them will set things right.

I should also be able to get the shift linkage put back together, hopefully without breaking off the new plastic tabs...

"Not much going on for the day, putter about, get on wifey's nerves.....this way she'll tell me to go do "something"- Ted. It is harder to hide with a bum knee.:( Some days I suspect that my existence is irritating and my breathing outright aggravating. I hate it when I hear the mantra "Don't give me that :censored:psychological BS"

RNG- I believe that you are right about the CA weather.

I believe that I will be seeing more Winter in March than the previous 4 months this Season. Friday-Saturday could set up a decent coastal storm Monday-Tuesday. There is already discussion about these two systems and their storm tracks near the 40N/70W "benchmark".

23°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 29° today. There were predictions yesterday for some manner of frozen precip overnight and into this morning, but they said it would stay south of the city. It did not. We had a light glaze this morning, and traffic was a mess all over the area.

Couple inches of snow predicted for the weekend, with temps in the teens and 20s. A lion indeed, Thomas.

Glad your wife is back home, Roy.

60°F and .56 inches rain. Patchy rain forecast. Not promising for roof work but I can be hopeful.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good morning all,

25 this morning but warming up, already 30 now.

Tried to get my 30' PJ trailer out to gather up more of my farm stuff from my brothers place. The snow was just to deep and I couldn't even get it to move an inch. Looks like it'll have to wait till the snow melts.
