-10°F and going to 10 above. Wind SSW 11 mph. Flurries.

Eric the DIL likes those thin little crepes, but she makes Canadian/American pancakes for me. She also likes Golden Syrup on them. NOT I! If there is no MS, then I have something else.

Last fall when I came home for the Northwest, I weighed 275 lbs and was on the last notch of my belt. I haven't weighed myself today, but I can tell you that my 'self imposed diet' is working. When I put my jeans on this morning I am now on the third last notch. YES! I jam a lot less groceries into my yap than I did in the summer and dessert comes about 2 hours after I eat the main course, maybe.
I have always watched what I eat. Watched it disappear off the serving platter and into my gob. Not any more.

Today is a good day to do up my taxes then tomorrow I can send them off to the accountant. The accountant will e-file them.

Have a good day all

Need to pour first cup of coffee. 4° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 17° with cloudy. Wifes Dr visit yesterday went well. Learned a lot about her swallowing problems that should help with OT (Occupational Therapy). No plans for today except watch the antics of Sandhill Cranes.
Darn squirrels, get out of here.

5 now, may get to 20 today. May be near 60 Sunday.........

The woodburner is getting a workout right now. Feels great in here.

Hopefully today is quiet at work. Yesterday was, except for the calls from those who own equipment that is worn out and want to make it run like new for $50 or less......not happening......

I had one call yesterday, a specific component was not working correctly. Machine is 7 years old. Asked if the component oil and filter had been changed recently, guy said he didn稚 think it had ever been changed (requirement is yearly). Well.....likely it is now worn out and won稚 work.....

Everyone have a safe and good day.

24 going to 44 and sunny.

Ran the saw some yesterday clearing several cedars along the road that blocked our view when pulling onto the road.

Need to sharpen it today and cut some more firewood. Wood stove is hungry...reading about pancakes is making me hungry. Thomas, you make maple syrup, right?

Eric, are you a master chef, yet? Hope Julie and Suzette are improving.

Good morning! YIKES 21 ˚F.

During the cruise, which was a neighborhood event, (buses picked us up from our picnic area) I met a woodworker club member. He is a wood shop mentor and agreed to mentor me as soon as I complete the safety class. With the influx of neighbors from flooded Houston at the same time a new section was added, the population of our neighborhood has increased rapidly. Wood shop mentors are is short supply for the new members so I'm glad I made a new friend.

The wood shop club is very strong on safety and like that I have no experience, which equals no bad habits. And he is glad that I agreed to help him on his project - wooden "Toys for Tots" to get my experience on the machines. It's a win win relationship, pics in April.

He said there have been only 2 accidents in the wood shop and both by experienced people. One was cutting a stump that flipped and broke a nose and the other lost a fingertip on a saw. The fire station with ambulance is right across the street, which they used, and rules say you must always wear your ID, with emergency contact info, so they know which wife to call and tell her your on the way to the hospital.

Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 5:00AM. Rain. High 49F. Winds ESE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch. Localized flooding is possible.

Love the wildlife stories and pics, folks. Please keep 'em comin'! The does and their fawns have really been enjoying all the new grass that's been sprouting here, but are starting to fall behind on their "mowing" duties as the days lengthen and the grass spends more time growin' than the deer do chompin'. By late afternoon, the fawns are napping and the mothers are laying around as well.

Looking forward to more lamb stories, Eric. Hope they're all happy ones this year.

Good you have a shop mentor, Don. Mine taught me to understand the hazards on each machine, and keep your body parts away from them. That's in addition to always wearing eye, hearing, and where necessary, breathing protection. All those years of coaching have ingrained a heightened sense of awareness and caution whenever I hit a power button, pull a starter cord, or turn an ignition key. I always ask myself "what could go wrong here" before I do something, and then either be ready to stop if it goes sideways, or figure out another, safer, way to do it. I still find myself reading the safety parts of the instruction manuals, and looking online for insights. Good habits are easy to start, bad ones are hard to break. Getting off on the right foot will be a precious gift from your mentor to you.

Did a little boning up on the leaking actuator seal for the drive line decoupler on the Vanagon yesterday. Looks like I need to take the decoupler off the nose of the transaxle to replace a seal, and I won't know for sure who made the decoupler until I can peek inside. They're all aftermarket alterations of the VW output housing, and with my "better off without him" boycott of my ex-mechanic, there's no askin' him. Probably wouldn't remember anyway.

The new laptop showed up yesterday, and a new security chip prevented me from just cloning the old hard drive onto the new one. More homework to do. Got around the problem by using Apple's migration tool, but it took most of the night. At least the new one booted without issue, and all the right parts were inside.

Got only a half cart of wood cut yesterday before the chainsaw quit. Not out of gas, but it was getting dark and my back was talkin' to me, so I put things away for the night and will try to get it goin' again today.

Looks like today is an inside day, so not sure what I'll find to keep busy with. It's an opportunity rich environment around here...
