Don, I am no longer a fan of assassin bugs as helpful garden bugs. My son went to pick a tomato and one nailed him on his middle finger. He had been in the pool and his fingers were soft and water logged. He started screaming about the pain. They have an enzyme that helps them ingest their prey, but is not really poisonous to humans. It can get infected. We put baking powder/vinegar on it, gave him 2 benydryl, ibuprofen, and some hydrocortisone topical cream. When I read that the main concern once the pain subsides is infection, my wife put some antiseptic on it. The baking powder/vinegar didn't alleviate any pain he said, I guess because it's cause was not from venom.

He said it hurt worse than the orange hornet, the yellow jacket, and the scorpion bites he's had in the past.

Checked out the Assassin Bug on the internet - wow, what an evil creature!

I guess I'd better look that up, see if I recognize it. Something bit my finger earlier this year, likely a big hornet or wasp, and the venom blew my arm up to mid
forearm. Bad news if I get stung in neck. That's when Epi pen goes in.

good morning all. It's an early laundry morning, that pile of clean wash somehow just won't leap out of there all by themselves....sigh.

picking, boxing, run to food pantry with heavy bags of cucumbers and some tomatoes and okra.
Then back to try to get other work done before rains come again this afternoon. Lot of moisture out.
Air is thick and a little foggy. That clears but one is still left with warm wet blanket. 73 out now and getting hot today.
Hot and sticky. The joys of the coast.

Hope all knees behave themselves today. Not even one little twinge allowed.
walk like you are on teflon ball bearings.
Buckeye, feel better, Toppop please check in and let us know you are improving.

Bird, I bet you get hail too. I'd get the largest metal can lid and have that near the door.
A metal umbrella...in case you really have to go out there.
It had better have some kind of vents or you might Mary Poppins and land somewhere else...
maybe you can get one of your retired LEO friends to find you a left over/expired plexi shield like the
riot guys use. Now that would be nice to have if you really had to go out there.

Too many years of fireman duty, when
no matter what I really had to go. Because the worse it was,
you knew someone was having it much, much worse than you were.
Driving in the night in snow sure got your heart pumping, even more fun trying to safely drive a fire truck
in some icy mess. We never had hail though in Eastern PA. Lots of sleet and ice.
If my area got hail, I'd get that can lid out, though best of course to stay inside like a sane person.
