Boy, I've been out of the loop, I guess!

solly, welcome to the .... well, I don't know what it is... thread.

End of school year fast approaching, every day seems to take longer. Kids REALLY getting wound up with the recent warm weather (I work in a middle school).

End-of-year projects, finishing up stuff that wasn't completed before, etc. Quite a rat race from now till the end of the school year, June 19 for us. And, as always with this age group, "raging hormones." I must be getting old; it just isn't much fun anymore at the end of the year....

Tractor still performing flawlessly with its mowing duties; got some seat time yesterday with the third mowing this year. Starting to look like a lawn!

Next project, wife wants to upgrade our refrigerator with one that has both cold water and ice-making capability:mad:. Got about 2 weeks to get all the beer out of the old one....:p

Hope everyone's late spring/summer is beginning well.

Insomnia again and I've been up for over an hour. Sometimes that's good, it gives me a nice early start to my day but often want a nap by 1 or 2 in the afternoon.

Forecast says a 40% chance of thunderstorms today.

Got a good amount of work done yesterday with the help from two women I've hired to give me a hand getting stuff done around this place.

Main thing we tackled was getting three 6' x 10' modular chain link dog runs set up in the lower half of the equipment shed so I can take in some additional foster dogs. Our county pound is getting some repairs made and so half of the twelve runs must be kept empty. So we (the humane society that I am a member of) will be trying to pull more dogs.

I've got three fosters right now but one will be going to her new forever home this weekend.

Hope you all have a good day.

We have adopted 4 dogs over the years, 2 mutts, and 2 boxers. Each left a hole in our hearts when they passed on. We now have 2 boxers, father and daughter, but we will probably adopt any more dogs. The only problem with these rascals is that they don't live 30 or 40 years.

I had a nice post written ad an odd keystroke and it vanished when my IE jumped to "My Home"...

Odd...

Morning all! It was a bit foggy at 0500 but it is supposed to be nice, sunny and clear until Tuesday I believe.

I'm hoping for LOTS of seat time this weekend!

Actualy I am considering acting like a real farmer and firing up the Kioti at 0530. Who will complain if I'm bush hoggin at that hour? As long as I park the tractor up the hill, I won't wake my family, and nobody else is even close.

I bet I can get 2 hours every morning with nobody even noticing I am gone!

Tempting thought...

I can do TBN and Quicken, etc some other time...

Be well all!
David

6:45

70 now going up to 85ish.

Attended the UMD pasture walk yesterday and can't wait for this weekend, they always seem to motivate me to do another piece on my fields. This weekend is re hanging newly painted gates so they don't sag! And mow and drag and what ever else I can get into.

As far as mowing at 5:30, do it!!! If your not bothering anyone, start as early as possible. They are not the ones sitting on the tractor from 12-2 when the heat is at its highest in the middle of summer. Which is when you should be doing your accounting and internet goofing. :)

I was told I couldn't start the tractor until 6 am. :( So I only try to mow one pasture a day, takes me about 3 hours, after that it's shade stuff.

I think it's funny that so many people are thinking about vacations at work and here we are thinking about mowing and tractor time :D

Thanks for the welcome irvingj.

I would imagine that you could probably find a few volunteers for the beer clearing project.

59 degrees and heading up to 81 with fairly high humidity.

The 24 x 48 garage is now cleared out, tools are once again organized on the work benches and the rolling shelving is organized with 1 for automotive supplies another for electrical, another for farm and garden, painting and last but not least dog and cat stuff. The 10 year old garage, poorly built  by the former owner of the place has a roof that is - well, not quite leaking, more like seeping. That's going to be a job I don't want to have to do but no choice in the matter.

In cleaning and organizing we found that the one feral cat that I had not been able to trap has three kittens who are about 3 to 4 weeks old. Caught them all and they are now living in a big dog crate and hopefully will be tamable and can be adopted out.

This morning I'll get the new foster that I pulled from the pound on Wednesday in to the vet and then in the afternoon I'll head back to the pound and pull two more dogs. One is a black lab (my favorite flavor) and I will try very hard not to make him a permanent member of my pack.
