You scared me for a second there, Don. I thought, "Oh no! Another Lee County geyser." Then, I remembered you were looking at pipe for your sail shade project.

I have been banned 50' from all water lines. 106˚ today.
After cutting away a few dead trees I got my dam smoothed out and called it a day. I cleaned out the pond 2 years ago and the dam still had piles of dried mud. (The stinky slime took two years to dry) The dam is about 2' higher and 8' wide now. This is the first day (in 20 years) I was able to drive My tractor all the way around the pond.

Very interesting. I grew up in Maine. Don't know if it qualified as very rural as there were 36 in my graduating HS class.

SO, my examples:

Two weeks ago I was shopping for my garage door openers, settled on the Chamberlain 3/4HP, belt drive with MyQ

HD online was $259 plus tax and shipping.
HD in store was $274 plus tax, but out of stock.
Ebay - $239, no tax, free shipping - Arrived in 5 days.

needed the 8ft extension kit to go with
HD in store $52 plus tax
Amazon, $41, no tax, free shipping, less than a week to arrive.

4 Garage doors for my tractor shed expansion.
Clopay brand, on sale via HD
Tried to order in store - sale price, tax, $79 delivery
Online - same sale price, tax, free delivery

5 piece Alum frame patio set.
Week ago Sunday paper sales insert Sears: $309, plus tax, special order
Same day online: $299, plus tax, store pickup, but impossible to order and at Checkout price jumped to reg $649 price. Had to get a live customer service rep who had to phone the local store to verify the $309 price, process the order at Reg $649 price and then refund the difference. Local pickup in 2-3 weeks.

Posted about my fence project purchase earlier. Best quote was a local farm supply but no delivery option. HD offered to beat their price by 10%. I got delivery for
$79, saving me 2 40 mile round trips.

Shopping here can be a fulltime sport, unless money is no object.

I'm coming to the end of a 4 month stint overseas.....pretty taxing on the family and I've missed the whole summer in OH, nice weather and all.....but should be home in a few weeks, and overall all is well!

I was offered to come visit my hosts at the house they rented in OBX, and I really want to go, but I'm afraid work is not going as well as I'd like due to the distractions due to my situation etc. and now I afraid of taking time off...

I really need to clear my head, make some hard decisions, and find a new path forward somehow...

It looks nice out the window right now, so let's talk about the weather instead... I wonder what the forecast is?

No issues today on the ride in. The incident yesterday that I got stuck in, was a suicide. Needless to say, at that time of day, it quickly produced grid-lock and I think I saw a 15 mile backup on the news.

Was like in the 50's when I left this AM. High suppose to be 79. I think before this cold front came through last night, yesterday was 90 something.
Very odd weather.

My sister-in-law just went through this. It took her three years to get legal on her own. Needless to say the pressure extended way beyond just her.
My wife and I are of the opinion, the faster you move and make your new way, the better off you will be.

Got the motorhome back yesterday, after getting the tiny satellite dish installed. A Wineguard unit, made in the USA.
When was the last time you saw any electronics whatsoever made in this country? Sort of amazing actually.
Have to sign up with Direct Tv today and see if it all works.

I am a very happy camper. The dealership was able to buff out all the white paint I had striped my brand new RV with, and all that's left is a memory. Boy did that make me feel better, not wearing the results of my ineptitude on my back.
So, got that out of my system...won't ever do that again, right? :ashamed:

Off to mow today. All the neck turning of mowing and driving the motorhome has left me with a sore neck, so I need to cool it. My enthusiasm always runs far ahead of my body's ability to catch up...

Home alone for two days, while the wife and mother in law work on the motorhome at MIL's home nearby. The ladies will do all the shelf lining and stuff we men folk have zero idea about. Hoping that next week we might be able to take off for a few days to a nice rv place in the Poconos. But perhaps it's too crowded and we might just wait until September.
