Good morning again -
Well this morning looks better for our Corgi. They let her out of critical care and she's at home due for surgery. I probably would have had to go with the difficult decision of putting her down when faced with a $5K surgery bill. But then I'm sure the divorce would me more.

Now I need an affordable pet insurance health program.

Why do Corgi's sleep on their back? And sploot?

I googled "sploot". The #1 result was Corgi's laying flat on their bellies. The other results were pretty disgusting!! Goood that the dog is better. We recently put our boxer down, it bothered me more than burying relatives. Bubba had cancer, no stopping it. Have a good one!!

54 now, and getting cooler. A little rain also. I need to test my generator, and change the oil. I am going to HD this afternoon, need to get furnace filters for the shop, and home. Also need to get some paint out of the barn so it doesn't freeze. I disconnected the hoses and put them all away, turned the outside water off. We are still getting sweet potatoes from our garden. I need to pull all the tomatoe vines up, and dispose of them. Have a good one, boys!!

Our male boxer used to lay on his back to sleep. He looked ridiculus, but that was Bubba.

I'm going to guess it has something to do with keeping cool
vs. any exhibitionist tendencies..;)

Have you had a hard freeze yet?
How are Partridge this year?

No hard freeze yet. The two mornings we had frost, it was really frozen dew that had set earlier. The result is the same as spraying water on fruits to protect them from frost. We have petunias and delphiniums still blooming. It seems like a true frost would only happen when the dew point is below 32* ???

I only saw one hen this year doing the broken wing act. I think they are less than last year when the drumming went on forever. It's always easier to tell with some snow, the tracks are better indicators.

We've had 8 boxers, not counting the litters and they ALL did this to varying degrees. Males to a lesser extent although our current boy does it against the wall. One of our young girls did it daily, almost always when getting on our bed just for a nap. Sometimes they look really comical.

Good Evening. 1940, clear, 67* with 89% humidity. Tonight's forecast low is 63* with 20% chance of rain. It will be cooling off later in the week. Down to 46* Wednesday and Thursday, and 43* on Friday. Saturday is the first day of bow season, and I just got my stamp this week. The cooler weather will be welcome.

My cousin is coming back from Polk County tomorrow and we will get back to work the next day. This is a slow week at work, so I can hang in there as long as he wants to work. He only has 10 more hours to pay off the old Jeep pickup, then I will have to start paying him money. But we have got a lot done while he's been helping me, so I'm sure I will find a little something for him to do.

Larro,
what's your favorite part of the deer; e.g. to cook and eat?
Am thinking one could make a nice deer meatloaf...I love those mystery loafs as long as i have faith
in the cook...no unusual fauna for me. But venison is downright delicious. What do you like best?
Drew

I finally looked up where you hail from. A very different part of Florida than most of us know, and no wonder your garden does so well, you live in a small town agricultural area where most likely folk still have to know how to use something more complicated than an adjustable wrench. People fix things down there, here, well...
And you aren't far from some beautiful beaches. Very nice. My home town was pop. 983...

Drew, like most folks, I like the backstrap best. I like it smother fried. And deer sausage {with a little pork mixed in} is always good. But back when I was single and didn't have anyone to teach me better, I would keep a ham, bone and all, in the freezer. Me and my friends would flake off potato chip sized pieces with a big butcher knife and cook them in a deep fat fryer. They would cook in a minute or so. We ate a bunch of deer this way.

And we do live in a pretty good area. We used to tell people we were from LA. That is Lower Alabama. We are 7 miles out of town, just across the Chipola River. Right around Altha there is a lot of wheat, cotton, peanut and cattle farming. It is almost all timberland where we live, with some small farms. But there is a 1000 acre farm behind ours. We are an hour from Panama City Beach. My uncle and aunt lived down there when I was a kid, and we went to the beach a lot. These days the tourists are so thick, we don't bother. Mexico Beach isn't as bad, but they are heading in that direction.

good morning all. A nice day today, but then rain is coming in tonight, from the look of the radar, and like others, it's going to get chilly after that. I have some equipment to move today, and then maybe a little wood splitting.

42 right now, high of 55 predicted with a 50% probability of rain.

Boy, I wish I had taken that WV job!
Vermont is beautiful, no doubt. Manufacturing jobs are scarce (to say the least) and Bloomberg (of NY) is pulling his anti-rights BS here (NH too, I understand).
So, this beautiful state isn't looking so beautiful anymore...
