I finally gave up and went to the doctor this morning for my cold and cough. It's killing me, up half the night hacking away, low-grade fever coming and going, no energy during the day. Got a prescription for azithromycin antibiotic. I hope it helps because I'm tired of watching decent outdoor work days get away.

Dave, the anti-biotic will only help with bacterial infection. Normally, they just give you steriods to make you feel better until the cold passes. I've started challenging the use of anti-biotics every time I see a doctor. I respond really well to steriods.

Something about their 230 million dollar salary might have something to do with it. Although they also have Alex that is a real deal!!!

I won't get into the Yankee / Red Sox debate but as a Yankee fan I always said Alex would have done better in Red! Can't take the pressure it's all Boone's fault he had to go play basket ball and blow his career!

A-rod was money pissed away. The Yanks don't spend like papa George did, anymore. It's total rebuild time for them. Jeter is a super class act as is Andy Pettitte. So was Bernie Williams and Jorge, but like all contenders, they've had their share of A-holes, like A-rod. The rebuild could take a year! LOL

Agree my son is a lefty pitcher playing college now. He grew up watching Pettite, Moose and one of his favored Yankee knuckle heads David Welles. The farm needs to be worked on they traded much of the future away for has beens. Seemed to forget where Jeter, Pettite, Moe, Jorge and Williams came from.

A lot of my symptoms matched with pertussis/whooping cough which is bacterial. I had a tetanus/pertussis booster vaccination back in 2011, so that may have lessened the severity. For several days I had to hold my ribs when coughing. They and my stomach muscles felt like I went three rounds with Mohammed Ali.

Colds are viral but I think bronchial infections are not always a virus. I understand about the overuse of antibiotics but I have to try something cause I ain't improving much on my own. It's a short (5 days), powerful dose.

good morning all.
not sleeping well, no surprise...
going to try to get outside today and fire up my new (to me) pull behind leaf blower.
When you have lawns, trees and woods, well, if I can, just gonna blow the leaves back where they came from,
back into the woods. Going to be an interesting day for the woods critters.

will post some pics of the blower elsewhere.

Hello all, 58 degrees here and drizzling rain, yesterday it was clear and sunny and hit 65 degrees at one time. Just finished my omelet and sausage, washed down with coffee. Today is errand running time, heading for the ATM first, then to Menards, then for groceries, and last but not least...THE PARTY STORE  Also, today marks the 11th year I have been retired, and I got my first Social Security check deposited last Thursday. LIFE IS GREAT!!!

Good Morning! It's a laugh and cry morning. The torrential rains hit at 2:00 AM and are continuing now. I can't wait to see all my ponds overflowing at daylight. I just went out with a flashlight and the berm on my road has been breeched. The Prius won't be going anywhere today. I'll report back with the official rain when I empty the large overflow tube and report to CoCoRaHS at 7:00 A.M.

I seem to get a sinus infection every winter. I quit fighting it on my own. I go in, get a shot, and usually a zip pac of antibiotics.

Remember Maynard G Krebs, he couldn't pronounce the word "work". :)
