I cannot imagine much worse than losing your home to a storm and then be besieged with winter weather. No matter who you are, when Mother Nature decides to level the playing field, you find yourself homeless and dependent on others. This presents us with the perfect opportunity to reach out and help our neighbors who were in the path of the storm. They will need good meals, a warm place to stay, and warm clothes to begin the enormous task ahead in the face of winter weather. Two of my favorite charities are the Red Cross and Salvation Army. They are immediately onsite and giving aid as quickly as possible. I just encourage anyone to give to the charity of their choice and at whatever level they can afford. Lots of small donations will add up to a huge difference for families in need.

I like the work that Habitat for Humanity does. When I donate money, it is usually to them. But you can't beat the Red Cross for a hot meal and a place to lay your head when you have lost everything.

Disaster Relief

A lot of religious groups put nearly 100% of the money to work and depend on donations for everything. I'm involved with a Mennonite group that I think exceeds 100% by getting matching private grants for hours the volunteers work. Couldn't find a nicer group of people in my book. They just don't talk about it.

Should have plenty of time to finished by Saturday afternoon. But, it's going to get cold and may snow. :thumbdown:
