with all the snow in the Catskills, a mid winter thaw with lots of rain could really create some flooding from mountain runoff.
Twice in the last forty years of going up to a friend's cabin in the Catskills, the local supermarket in Margaretville along Route 28 was literally washed down the stream, blue lake green beans and all, and utterly nothing left but the concrete foundation. From a big melting storm. And they built it back up again. With no new dams or flood control.
Tick tick tick. More beans coming downstream soon.

but getting above freezing today and a lot more rain coming.

8 degrees this morning claiming it is going to be a sunny day with temps reaching mid 30‘s
Just the calm before the freezing rains tonight and additional rain tomorrow morning.
Did the old house roof yesterday afternoon will do the out buildings today so the snow be gone work will be done.

Poured first cup of coffee. 61° with cloudy skies. Heading to 72° with cloudy skies all day. Look like cold weather is headed to south Texas tomorrow. Need to get all the water hoses put away for a few days. Sure hope all our northern friends protect themselves from the cold.

32 with freezing rain then changes to rain. Really cold stuff comes tomorrow night, like zero kinda cold. By next weekend temps will be in 50s with rain on Saturday. Balmy 11F w/scatter clouds w/upper 20's later on today.
Mix bag of nasty weather heading in late today,roofs clean,extra gas for genny,spent 3 hours pushing back snow banks,all I left to do couple wheel barrow loads of wood inside put shovel in back of pickup for load sand driveway Monday.

What..in an hour take me shopping before noon Mrs. ask well okay,least I can push the shopping cart.

It's 5 degrees here and clear.
Should see 33 today and, like Thomas and Wayne....freezing rain tonight and tomorrow.

This beginning of 2014 has not been auspicious...you guys know about the toe (which is healing nicely). Yesterday, I was lying down and our Boxer dog decides to visit. I turned my head to say "hello" and the half chewed toy in her mouth struck me right in the left eye! A minor scratch on the cornea...which tend to be very irritating. Pretty miserable yesterday, but it feels OK today...still a bit reddish.
And now I have one of the achy bugs that really wear one down. A dose of Theraflue and I'll just lie down.

My neighbor's boy did the roof and I got the walks yesterday...need to do the deck, but I think I'll wait to see what we get tonight and tomorrow. I'd rather that crust of ice be on top of the snow.

Geez Roy....You are getting your Butt kicked....You should buy a football helmet and steel toed boots at least until the bad Mo Jo leaves you.... Hope you get to feeling better soon...but watch your nose ...it could be next...

Good Morning. 0745, overcast, 46* with 89% humidity. Forecast high of 66* with 20% chance of rain this afternoon, and a low of 35* with 70% chance of rain tonight. They have lowered the low for Monday night to 19*. Tuesday will be bad, with a high of 31* but it's back in the 60's by Thursday.

No plans for the day, other than walking over to the shooting house to change out the SD cards in the game cameras. We might go to town later, but sitting in front of football games sounds fine with me. Everyone stay safe and have a good day.
