If it got 107 f here, I think it would kill people and animals. We just aren't used to that level of heat. I'd just hide out in the house.

Eh. We're used to it. I can't take the freezing temps you get, so it all works out. I don't think I could take a full Michigan winter.

73 and cloudy @ 13:45 ... It's apparently been raining on and off this morning ... spotty showers. Was supposed to clear up this afternoon and get sunny ... doesn't look like it's happening so far. Spent most of yesterday afternoon working on the lawn ... cut the upper front yard with the Kubota first and then mowed all around the house with the Simplicity. Then windrow'ed what the wife had cut on the lower front yard the day before ... and then did the same for the upper front yard I had cut earlier ... about the time I was finishing that she got home from work with dinner. After I ate I hooked up the Trac Vac and she started picking up the windrows ... it got dark and I ended up having to pull out the magnetic light bar and mount it so she could see what she was trying to pickup. Worked up in the shed until about 04:00 ... pulled the gearbox on the Milwaukee angle grinder apart ... the ring and pinion gears were both dry as bone ... no obvious metal flakes or chips, but some of the grease (which is yellowish) was discolored (blackish) ... the gears appeared to be in decent shape (without having new ones to compare them to), so I took a small screwdriver, a pick/probe, and paper towel and dug out as much of residual grease that was in the housing as I could and repacked it with Milwaukee "Type Y" grease and put it back together. I then pulled the plastic covers on the motor and checked the brushes ... they looked to be better than 50%, so I put that back together and gave it a test drive ... sounds way, way better ... This is easy enough to do - no small parts came flying out when I took it apart - that it ought to probably be done on a more regular basis (yearly) if the tool gets a lot of heavy use. The only possible hazard I saw was the needle bearings for the ring gear shaft - have to be careful that they stay where they are supposed to ... but they don't seem inclined to wander as they are covered with grease anyways. Reassembled the filter and swirl ring for the (China ?) filter/regulator for the plasma ... that ended up being a bit of a challenge, as pieces flew when I originally took it apart and I couldn't find a manual for it. Also cleaned out and installed the filter screen for the Schrader-Bellows air filter that I had missed installing when I originally reassembled it. Had a little plastic bin that all my hex keys had gotten tossed into for cleaning a number of years ago ... went thru that and wiped them all down with a rag and the Murphy's Oil Soap/water solution that I use for cleaning. Still need to hit them all with some fine steel wool to remove any rust corrosion and then coat them with a little mineral oil. Last thing I worked on before I called it a day was an old Kal Equip vacuum/fuel pump pressure gauge. I had three of these that I purchased back when I was around 20 years old to set the carbs on my Yamaha XS750SF Special. The case had some rust and corrosion where the paint was lifting and the plastic "glass" was covered with paint overspray. I used some Duplicolor Grease and Wax Remover and a rag to clean off the overspray on the "glass" and then took it apart and wire wheeled/steelwooled/sanded the case to remove the rust in preparation of repainting it. Got most of the way there and then decided it would probably be a good winter project ... so I bagged it up and stuck it in the tool chest. More cleaning and putting things away on the menu for today.

Not sure whether you are a source of inspiration or guilt LOL
Sometimes, I'm worn out just reading what you do.

So, when ready, I think I could find enough around my place to keep you occupied a few days (or weeks).

Good afternoon all. 69F this morning and drizzle, forecast for 79F IN AUGUST :) this week will see a return to more normal temps in the low 90's and afternoon popups. Finish rear wheel rehab yesterday, bike is ready to ride. Commode installed Friday had defective seal, used seal from old unit it's now dry :). mowing and cleaning are the priorities as house will be listed Monday or Tuesday.

1 Lap to go now before the start...I'm watching now....I can't wait for you and Margie...sorry Larro.....LOL

Enjoy the race Bob. Just don't tell me who wins. Margie is a Face Book junkie, but she has learned to stay off it until we have watched the race. Someone will post it the second the checkered flag flies, and there is nothing worse then hearing who wins when you have 50 laps to go. I've got golf on while waiting on her to get home {and it just went into rain delay}. Had a nice nap, but got woken by a passing thunderstorm. Watering the garden was the one chore I had today. Now I don't even have to do that. Supper is all leftovers except for whatever kind of veggie I decide to do.

Just waiting for supper here. Did almost nothing today. I feel a little guilty, but I expect to get over it! :)

Hey, I feel the way. Yesterday was 105˚ and today is 100˚. I'll just blow off this month and start again in September.

Part of the "do almost nothing" crew. I did go to town and get some diesel and pass time in HD getting stuff for my pool fence replacement project.

Wayne.
"fair" in today world what you offer mostly unheard of,40 50 years ago it wasn't..man word only as good as the man.

Thomas when selling an older boat it is difficult at best to cover all of the concerns one has regarding the thing. I took it to a boat place and had then do some work on it an once we got it
back we put it in the water and it ran fine. i just felt the best thing to do was to give the buyer sometime at his home to consider the purchase and return it if he or his wife was not happy with it.
turns out he must be happy and everything is okay. Glad the darn thing has found a home....LOL i still think a man痴 hand shake is worth more than a bill of sale.

Does taking a nap kick me out of that crew? I did do something today.

Had several good thunder showers this afternoon. The garden is looking good. All the seeds that were late coming up are starting to sprout.

Congratulation to Jeff Gordon for his win at MIS. That makes 3 wins for the "Boy Wonder" this season, and 91 for his career. He is looking strong going into the Chase.

53 right now...high of 72 and clear today.

Sunday was a lazy day for me too. On and off overcast skies, but the mowing was done. Mostly on the computer watch old ('50's and 60's ) science fiction movies I had downloaded off YouTube.

Added:
My wife saw a critter outside the fenced area a few days back. I saw it Sunday....big ol' groundhog. Got a .22 revolver loaded and close at hand if and when I can get a good shot.

LOL ... well, hopefully, if nothing else it's at least (a source of) entertainment ... ;)

Sometimes, I'm worn out just reading what you do.
What wears me out is thinking about what I have still yet to do ...

Sometimes a day will have gone by and I'll be sittin' up in the shed, about ready to shut it down for the night, and then look at what there is still to be done ...

It would be depressing ... other than the fact that I know that I did make at least some progress ... writing up it and posting it helps in that it makes me look at what I did manage to get done ... rather than what I didn't ...

A good part of this evolution I'm on now is due to my own bad habits - not putting tools away, not completing things once started, neglected maintenance, etc. ...

I guess the upside is that in the not too distant future I should have a reasonably nice, and fairly well organized shop space - where I can actually find things - to do some work in ...

So, when ready, I think I could find enough around my place to keep you occupied a few days (or weeks).
Sounds like fun ... and very tempting ... :D

55 degrees and cloudy, 82 predicted as high for next four days.

well, I did not get arrested yesterday, but I sure didn't get far with that lock. I drilled and drilled and drilled, small bits to larger bits until there was nothing left of the lock mechanism and it still would not let go. grrrrrr.
ok, brute force time. Headed back at it this morning with a helper, and we will take the wheel off the trailer, clamp included, cut the clamp off with my new 10amp Dewalt compact sawzall with lots of metal blades (didn't want the huge conventional style-too heavy) and I will cut that sucker off hopefully without hitting the tire.
well, kudos to the clamp maker, can't fault the thing doing exactly what it is designed for, preventing brutes like me from stealing the boat...;)

Three hour home inspection on Wednesday. After this weekend, I'm ready. Got into the worst of the yukky corners of the basement, where stuff had been piled for many, many years. And then the movers come next week, busy, busy.

uh, has any one heard from JD? hmmmm.

Might bring along an angle grinder and some thin cutting discs if you have them. That generally works better on hardened steel than a sawzall.

Poured first cup of Coffee. 59° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 77° with mix of sun and clouds. Off to visit wife's childhood friend on East side of Metro area.
Drew, I would think that a security device like you have will make putty of them metal sawzall blades. I think I would use a 4" cutoff grinder on it.
Good Morning All.

good advice guys, think I already packed the grinder/cutoff but I'll look for it.
going to cut the "ear" off, unlikely to be hardened. Will report back, maybe even with pics.
officer, I really do own this...

I was thinking the same thing - this is an grinder job.

Good hot Morning! It never got cooler than 81˚ overnight but If I can get out for a few hours this morning a few things might get done, just waiting for the first glimpse of daylight.
