Good Morning! 1/4" rain yesterday that makes the weeks total .7" enough to settle the dust but not raise the level of the ponds. Cloudy and 75˚ this morning still heading to the mid 90's with another chance for showers.

The "cure" word came after a big "IF". If the subsequent PET scans, Year 3 and 5, show improvement over the base line scan, still a lot of work to do before the "c" word.
I was just surprised to hear the "c" word as it relates to heart disease. I really don't think that is the right word because IF my PET scan results do improve - and they are not that bad now because the heart attack was like an early warning - the disease progression would continue if I went back to eating like 97% of the population. I would think the right word would be "stopped" (green is not growing on scan) or "reversed" (less green on scan). I will post the scan in September 2017 - then hopefully a party!

For those interested or if you know someone with heart disease here is a good site.

I am doing #8 Dr. CALDWELL B ESSELSTYN'S program.
Esselstyn also just finished a larger new study in July with impressive results.

The Century study is done by #10 Dr. LANCE K GOULD.

Drew to the rescue. I rescued a 18wheeler also on my place. Those drivers sure show relief when they don't have to explain why they need a wrecker.

Drew, glad for you. Hope your life will ease into a more normal "daily grind".

Give the young man a chance. Most of us have done some stupid stuff and were just dumb stupid kids at the time.

66F and .13 inches rain last 24 hours. A beautiful morning.

Made a 2nd trip to town yesterday. Opted to pick up our new Treadclimber TC20 from the freight service rather than wait for delivery which would have been Tuesday due to Labor Day. Gave the old TC5000 away via Craigslist. No longer working properly but we got 5 good years of service from it. The new owner has an older model and hopes to repair or at least use it for parts. I'll be assembling the TC20 this morning and do my 1st 30 minute workout this afternoon. Wife is looking forward to it as well. I know she missed it on rainy days and didn't get her walk. I need to get back into the routine of mixing use with my recumbent bike.

Be safe
Have a great day

Good Morning. 1135, partly cloudy, 93F {heat index 114} with 65% humidity. Forecast high of 93F with 80% chance of thunderstorms, and a low of 73F tonight. We had a pretty rough thunderstorm yesterday right as we were leaving for Marianna. Lots of wind. We drove through it, and it took about 30 minutes for it catch up with us. It didn't last but an hour or so. Would have been nice if it had hung around. But we will most likely get another one later today. I got the melons, cantaloupes and peas side dressed yesterday morning, so it can rain all it wants to now.

Don, glad to hear the diet and exercise is working so well for you. I still eat meat, but not near as much as I used to. When folks ask me how I lost the 65 pounds I have left behind, I always say eat less, move more. It sounds simple, and it is if you will do it.

Kyle, it looks like A&M have found themselves a dropback passer. I was thinking the game would be close, with your guys having a chance. But they put it on the Head Ball Coach and his Gamecocks. My Seminoles start their Dallas to Dallas tour tonight. It is not ever easy to repeat, but I have hope.

Everyone have a good weekend.

I used to have respect for the 'noles. But the J. Winston coverup has eroded that.

But I do believe they have a good chance to repeat not withstanding.

As much as the school has riding on his decision making, they should have minders on him 24/7. If he will learn from his mistakes, he will make a lot of money next year. He says he is staying longer, but he would be crazy if he does.

Just woke up from a two hour nap and wow what a difference. Not quite into the green on the battery charge meter but
that sure helped. My lawn service guy stopped to meet me for the first time. Big good looking guy who is full time with the local fire company and pt with another one, and mows lawns in what's left. And he is a fellow fireman with my next door neighbor. Both big guys; they must have a serious weight room in that firehouse...
It took him about six hours to mow the lawn with a high speed new JD zero turn and he was booking down the straights.
He also did some weedwacking around the house and grounds, but only does the fence posts every other week.
So I'm paying this guy about 25 bucks an hour to show up with his own equipment and gas. Seems a serious bargain to me. I'll take over the riding mower part next week; I'll have him come to do the trimming and general grounds maintenance that I need a hand with. Maybe that way I won't overdo it here physically. Like trimming the low hanging tree limbs down the driveway with my 16ft power saw. He asked how high. I said ladder truck high. He grinned and said Yes Sir.

I also asked if he knew a junk guy who could haul away that old scrap metal in the back; an ancient rusty 55 gal barrel and a three point round spreader for a very large tractor that apparently had died there many years back.
I can do that for you Sir.

outstanding...

Having this guy plus his buddy living near/working on the property basically gives me high priority when the alarm bell goes off...and also a sense of security that they will look out over things here while I'm not here.
all good, and all reassuring in a new town.
I think I'm going to like it here.

I promised myself I would do nothing more strenuous this afternoon than hose off the front porch.
And then once it is clean, I'm going to sit in that swinging bench on the huge porch and just
say aaahhhhh. Finally.

killing me I can't find where I packed my camera; maybe I left it in the toyota back in PA.
I have an older one here I need to find.

Lastly, had a nice talk with a six inch long lizard/gekko looking thing on the porch. He did not seem afraid of me and we chatted amicably, as he turned his head back and forth slightly like he was trying to hear better. too funny.
Shoo. He/she looked at me as if to say "Shoo who?"

Pretty nice day, all told.
Finished mowing and a few other chores.
I have noticed the trees are starting to lose their leaves...at least some of the trees. Boy, this seems a bit early...

Good Evening!

Yes, it was a nice day. 75F was the high and a nice breeze to go with it.

A couple weeks back I noticed all the black cherry tree leaves across a 1/4 mile stretch had turned a sickly pale tan/yellow color. Some of those leaves are coming off. Not sure what is up with that. I've noticed some sparse crowns on the black cherry this year too. Likely some sort of blight. Some red maples are turning too, it's the right time for the early ones.

Drew, glad you rested on your porch swing today. That was the right thing to do for your battery status. :)

Good luck house hunting MostlyGas.

Pretty day here, made it up to 78F

Got the new treadclimber assembled and my first session. Now I have to learn the new control panel and then teach my wife. This time I had it set on calories, so it stopped at 450. Only 28.5 minutes and 1.5 miles. My near term goal for 30 minutes is 600 calories / 2 miles. Lots of speed vs time variables. I topped out at 3.5mph for 4 minutes. Top machine speed is 4.5 whereas the old machine topped out at 4.0mph.
