I am saddened to hear we lost Jinman...

I watched the same movie as Drew about the Franklin Co. Bootleggers on Saturday :D

Yesterday I broke out the Stihl Farmboss and dropped a large and very dead mimosa folia, a 50' sweet gum, and some nuisance dogwoods. Some of the wood is destined for the wood stove, much of it for the bonfire.

Limbing with a 20" farmboss is exhausting... I am so sore today...

Be well all,
David

Which one do you have?

Which one do you have?

MS 290 with a 20" bar. I bought it back in Spring of 2011 I believe...

It is an awesome saw (better than I am).

But by 4:30pm yesterday I think it weighed 2,000 lbs...

That my friend is one heck of a saw, makes my 260pro look dinky. Know too well though that 2000lb feeling at the end of the day

Good Morning. 1130, partly cloudy, 91F {110 heat index} with 68% humidity. Forecast high of 92F with 80% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, and a low of 71F tonight.

I have my lifting and the rest of my AM workout done, and a couple of chores ahead that require me cranking the truck. While I'm out I think I will drive over to the pond and see how the water level is doing. The purple hull peas also need picking again. I was able to give away Friday's picking, so at least I didn't have to shell them.

David {MFW} the trunks of those dogwoods make good ax, hoe and shovel handles. The are very strong, but have a little give to them. My blind great uncle used to keep everyone in the neighborhood supplied with handles he carved from dogwood trees.

Drew, I hate you had to give your tractor away. Tractors are the one item where my Want verses Need meter is a little out of whack. But glad you were able to give it back to your Friends. They will think of you every time they mow.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Larro

and the rest makes wonderful firewood and kindling; great hardwood.
but always sad to see a dogwood go, but they don't seem to be very long lived and at least once we had to replant all of them on the farm I grew up on when they all died of some blight. But oh the firewood.

Stopped raining here for a bit but looks to start up again. All this water is headed North up the coast.
they just put a flood watch up here for another one to three inches after 3.34 inches yesterday

66 this AM when I left for the retired day job. Saw the moon last night, big bright, took a deep breath and enjoyed the light on the pastures. No moon this AM, cloudy. Looked at the drainage gully as I left, thanks to my neighbor "landscaping" his yard over the last few years, I got a ton of water coming through my hay field, and the tractors are making huge ruts out there. If it dries up some more, I have got to figure out a way to move the water along. I just shake my head at the way some people think. Anyway, I will have to get the boots on and the weed whacker ready.
