Frd

933 sq yards if you figured 4inches of compacted material would be 186 tons. Just food for thought two inches of compacted asphalt would take roughly 106 tons. Again these are only for your information

after they ran the grader through they found the base underneath in good shape and I think only put down about two inches. There is another layer of finer stone coming; the "finegrade" they refer to. They ran a big roller over the underlayment and they said it would harden like concrete.

I may not be chewing the food for thought properly. Don't be afraid to speak your mind...

that baby excavator was the first thing they took out of there; now that, as noted by others, would be a real hoot to have around. It was remarkably quiet, the quietest piece of machinery like that I have ever seen/heard. Must have a huge muffler on it and not a very big diesel. IHI is not a brand I'm familiar with. Certainly isn't International Harvester...;)

David MFW: I've had great results from a chiropractor with your shoulder/arm type of injury or strain. I babied an arm and shoulder for 6 months with no improvement. Three visits to the bone cruncher (including a mild lecture of what was I waiting for?) and it was 100% fixed, pain gone.

Dave1949,

That is a tempting thought... I was thinking of visiting my bone cracker... He only charges $40 to uninsured dudes like me (COBRA was atrocious, and ObamaCare turned out to be even worse).

I can still do a push up (just did 78 in 1 minute yesterday) but shaking a sweetener packet for my coffee, pouring coffee, brushing my teeth, driving the mouse on my laptop, suddenly my elbow hurts, shoots up the outside of my bicep and ends up in my shoulder and then throbbing pain follows the same path in reverse...
GRRRRRR...

Thanks for the info...

Be well,
David

Good evening all. 60F @ 8AM this morning, made it to 85F and sunny. Was going to power wash granddaughter driveway, but power washer would not start (pull cord broke) just did it with push broom and garden hose. Grilled pork steaks for supper, then played in my golf league.

Celebrated day by getting the Scag back in service then both wife and I mowing the inside portions, about 6 acres and had some bubbly with dinner. Actually going out with friends for nice dinner tomorrow night.

56F and partly cloudy @ 00:15 ...

On break from gusset welding ... letting things cool down.

Went down to the house and got another cup of java ... now back up at the shop.

Uncle Buck came down earlier and we went over the stitch welding on the gussets and a few other things.

Hoping to get the gussets done and the upper jaw at least tacked up by morning.

They are calling for a high of only 49F on Saturday with a low 37F ... way too soon ...

Roy you keep getting up earlier and earlier and I keep waking up in the middle of the night.
At least one of us can commute back to the pillow...

59 degrees going up to 81 today. Bright sunny days, cool nights.

Am finally sitting at my desk instead of the kitchen table, but no pc yet.
actually I did drive here....the prior owner was an elevator district mgr and he put a senior
chair lift up to the second floor. So being careful not to spill my coffee (no cup holders on these things :D)
I clank my way up to the second floor. I don't usually use it but it does provide a little entertainment value.

David, the only thing better than this could have been if you both drove tractors that day together. Sounds wonderful.
Keep up the good work...:cloud9:

and lastly, your trivia bit for this morning.
Note above that Sodamo and rswyan both joined in the same month in 2004.
In the merry month of May when tractors are, well, tractoring...

I "met" rswyan in the Friendly Politics area, where he adopted that interesting avatar to make a political point.
My skin is a little too thin for that place and I no longer visit, so I am happy to find him here. With his amazing welding pics and tales of marital bliss. Just like Sodamo's(and many others)...different variations on the same theme of love.
Well, actually, no one does flying metal one ton sheets of steel like RS.
oh, we covered that. :D Story just improves with age like a fine wine.

I couldn't resist; what little gems we find here:
and the upper jaw at least tacked up by morning.

Now rs, was tacking your jaw your wife's idea?
as long as it doesn't affect your post count.

Poured first cup of coffee. 51° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 68° with sun later in the day. Got apple tree cut down yesterday. But sprinkles of rain kept me from trimming branches off larger limbs. No rush I will have it cleaned by the weekend. RV show opens today. Going to go look at new features available on latest models. Leaving check book and credit cards home. My local Kubota dealer is across street from show place.
Good Morning All.

61 this morning high of 81 later. Drew with a heavy truck like your Dodge I would want as much base stone as possible to prevent failure of your new asphalt. A lot of mini trackhoes are built overseas and IHI is just one of those brands

You have a beautiful place by the way

MFLW hope your elbow shoulder gets better soon
A real cool shot coming this weekend but only for a short visit as 70s return by next week
Good Morning

56F now cloudy chance of showers, upper 60's for high temp.
We could use little rain fall for brooks/streams.
Leave color still spotty here and there.

Enjoy the day all.

59 and foggy, headed to 76 with chance of more rain. Not sure I'll paint today, but still have some tilling and bush hogging left.

Rode by many soybean fields yesterday, now turning that beautiful shade of yellow.

Congrats, David Sadamo on 31!

59 this morning and headed to 87 today. Getting close to the record high of 92. Rain forecast for tomorrow night then cool off to fall again. So the weatherman says. We'll see. Still have Indian summer left to go through as we haven't had a frost.
Sadoma here's to another 31 for you two.
MFW nice to hear from you again. All those push-ups make me tired. But that could be a source of reaggravation for your elbow.
Drew you have a nice place and will have a nice driveway.

Good morning! 76˚ heading to the 90's partly cloudy, humid no wind, Summer is sticking around a few more days.
Friday at 1:00 A.M the cool front hits with rain!
The leaves still have not started to turn colors.

It's almost too dusty (powdery white sand - think talcum powder) to grapple in the woods. I hope my Wolfsnout arrives in the mail today.

55F & heavy cloud cover. Mid-60's today with a small chance of rain. My struggling grass seed sprouts could sure use some moisture.

I finished off spreading driveway topping yesterday. Rock and root picking is today's plan.

Happy 31st Big Island David & Sophie!
