That's not good you don't have reliable power. Our power company only trims once every 5 years and it's a 15 foot set back to a single phase line. Think it's 25 or 30 to 3 phase. But upon the landowners request they will come out and roll up the wire to allow the land owner to drop everything in fall distance. At no charge.

Just last week our power company had contractors trimming trees with one of those long boom saws, and mowing up next to fence-rows with a heavy duty bush hog that will tilt to 90 degrees. They do it about every two years. But then trees grow really fast down here, and much of the land is in planted pines. They figure it is cheaper than sending out repair crews during a storm, like they had to do on Sunday. The four hour outage yesterday was rare. About an hour is usually the longest we are in the dark.

36F and partly cloudy @ 02:00 ... winds out out of the SW @ 15 mph ...

Just woke up ... having my first cup before I head up to the shop. Looking forward to being able to grab some seasoned wood out of the wood pile ... rather than trying to coax some heat out of unseasoned wet wood.

Seems kinda chilly here in the house ... but I hear the wood burner running. Probably needs the damper opened up.

Happy (belated) birthday Sodamo

Hope everyone has a good day.

60 (!!!!) right now, and will be dropping steadily over the course of the day to a daytime high of 47.

Looks like we're right on the cusp of tomorrow's snow. We'll either see about 3-5 inches, or 6-10 inches. Well, plow and snow blower are both mounted, so I reckon we're ready.

55 down this way Roy and they are talking 6-10 inches here.
I will finish getting the plow ready and did the snow blower yesterday.
Have to do the wiring for the lights and snowblower today and then there is the weather break to install on the tractor
Had all fall to do these things, but no wait until you need it approach has to change LOL

Now Roy, this crew is always ready for what comes at us, right?

64 degrees out, which is the high for the day. Cloudy and rain showers this morning, then a break, then one to two inches of rain tonight.
Still pondering whether I make the drive to Northern VA tomorrow morning. And whether I take my car or my dually truck, the latter at least has good all weather tires on it and 4wd. Headed to Lowes today to get sand bags put in the back just in case I decide to take the truck. Five or more inches of snow predicted at this moment for my brother's place. Driving through heavy rain, on the busiest travel day of the year, and then driving into snow is not my idea of fun. I might just bag it and go up a day early on my xmas trip North and visit with him then. Thanksgiving is wonderful to be with family, but not so wonderful driving five to seven hours in bad weather. I really am getting too old for this... or maybe smarter, I hope the latter.

Just checked the 10 day forecast and they are calling for a high of 57 next Sunday, the 30th ... sure, I'll take it.

55 down this way Roy and they are talking 6-10 inches here.
I will finish getting the plow ready and did the snow blower yesterday.
I still have to do our blower ... pulled it out and got it hosed off a week or so ago, but I still have to lube it and it really needs a little touch up done on some rust spots.

Need to make some room in the shop so I can get it in tho' ...

Have to do the wiring for the lights and snowblower today and then there is the weather break to install on the tractor.
I started on a rework of the lights a couple days ago. Had a magnetic (bad idea) 4-light bar I made out of an old aluminum door sill ... got knocked off the tractor when the wife was mowing about a month ago and broke one of the plastic housings ... I think it's ABS ... gonna try and glue it. Amazingly all the bulbs survived ...

Gonna bolt a couple of pieces of 1/4" x 1 1/4" aluminum angle to the ROPS and mount them there.

Had all fall to do these things, but no wait until you need it approach has to change LOL
I hear ya brother ...

46 this morning high of 55 later today. Snow here for tomorrow is dependent on cold temperatures arriving here on time and that's tricky. North of us more snow think we are in 1 to 3 inch area. Two counties north of us 8 inches, west of us even less. Tractor gets to maintain its rest even longer.

Those traveling please be safe

Nice size parking lot to work on today 450 tons or so. Fun times at Ridgemont High

Good Morning

watching the radar, lot of moisture getting sucked up south of Pensacola in the Gulf, and being sent Northeast in a solid line.
Lot of precip coming for sure.
I have about a two hour window it looks like so I'm headed outside early to put hoses away. Sure won't need to water anything for awhile with this coming. All my shrubs are handwatered anyway and the sod is now dormant, so time to put the last of the hoses away. Before they freeze.
and then I'll have plenty of time reading about you guys further North pushing and blowing snow.

and I just know David/Sodamo has an easy smile on his face when he reads this. Probably as he has a cold pineapple fizz on the back deck, looking out over the Pacific Ocean, wondering about how Tahiti might feel.
Sigh.
