Good morning all and what an absolutely gorgeous morning this is, despite the keen frost.

Normally I would have taken a picture to share, but until they get chance to fix the picture upload on tbn the camera is staying in my pocket.
I tried a couple of times last night with little success.

I wonder just how many bytes it takes to store all the images on this forum ?
Could that be the next competition now the 4 million is over - winner gets to keep all their pics, 2nd & 3rd can save their best shots and the rest go in the recycle bin ?

Glad she made it home. Hope you can help her get going again. So when Txdon comes to help mow, can I come to shoot predators?

Don't wait that long, come now. Lambs will need all the help they can get. There are so many foxes, crows and magpies, you could still be here come mowing time.
Also help me pick a new .223 - there is so much choice to go at. Any recommendations ?

31 degrees in pouring rain, snow about twenty miles away, we just missed the white stuff, staying just above this part of coastal NC. Only going up to 32 today so I bet the roads will be interesting. I'm staying home...
Lot of rain here, which usually means more heading North, so be prepared for more white stuff at least along the coast.
Well, at least my fruit trees got watered.
hmmm, this system is pulling water all the way down out of the Gulf. Could be a wet day.

A Ruger ranch rifle in the 223 caliber would be quite useful I would think. Lots of people out west use them to shoot prairie dogs and the like and with a scope vey lethal

12 degrees outside about 8in of fresh powder kinda of like Colorado snow vey light and fluffy. Made one pass on driveway last night another three inches of fresh powder to clean this morning

Well its another morning out there..... Its still dark out, and its still cold out.... Hope today the wind stays down, it was blowing pretty good yesterday causing the roads to be terrible with drifting snow. Only 2 months left of this darn cold and snow.........

15 with only 28 forecast...we got 5 inches of powdery snow, much less than the 6 to 12 forecast.

My dog's first real snow - she'll be 1 year old next week. What a blast watching her run through it.

We were lucky not to get any of the sleet that folks a little south of us got. Made clearing spots on the driveway to spread bird seed very easy...sweeps with a broom. Most of our snows are the heavier and "wet" type. The birds get into frenzy mode whenever it snows. Have had a few of them eat out of my hand.

Murph - glad your water is flowing - I hate when we lose power since we are on well water - certainly the biggest inconvenience of a power outage here.

15 out, sun is coming out. What is this white stuff? About 4-5 inches of it. It's fluffy.

Well Billie, you are sure right, "folks further South" includes me and I just made a rounds check confirming over half an inch of ice. And the power just went off and came back on. Lovely. A little tree damage, I picked up some downed pine branches.
More worrisome is a large pine branch leaning down on my main electric line going into the barn. I'd be surprised if something didn't give out there. Hope it warms up a little but it is currently freezing rain.

I did find that the golf cart had excellent traction in this stuff. Crunchy stuff under the ice must have given some grip. If it keeps accumulating ice, different story. I sure wish I had more than a portable gen, no way to keep warm other than two fireplaces and unseasoned wood. Still waiting for local electrician to give me quote. Am keeping my fingers crossed.

-5 this morning and headed to 20 today. Some of you up north are warmer than we are. After today we are supposed to go into the deep freeze. Highs for Wednesday and Thursday are 15 or less. Lows below zero. Another inch of snow is forecast for tonight. Well wife got her big snow. Now she won't go out in it. Says too cold. I guess she wants it snowy and 75.

I need to finish plowing parking lot. Maybe faster with the dozer over the tractor. If it's not froze up.

Drew. Ice is no good. We spent the '09 ice storm with a portable gen and 1500 watt heaters. We got lucky only out 2 days then transformer blew about 2 hours after power returned. Power company just stopped by that afternoon and put in a new fuse. My parents were out 3 weeks and some were out over a month. Good luck maybe you're power will stay on.

65°F and no rain last 24 hours.

Well as all good things come to an end, so does the relaxing holiday weekend. Think I'm off to town for another trailer load of sand for my driveway retaining wall project, then back to town to turn in recyclables, get mower gas, start getting lumber for my cottage remodel project.

For just your own driveway it probably doesn't amount to a great deal of wear and tear. If the front end squats when you lift the plow off the ground, you need more weight in the back end to minimize wear in the front end.

I thought is was like ballast, I need to weigh enough more than the snow/ice and its resistance to moving, in order to shove the snow out of the way...
