65 this morning high of 85 later another chance of storms that we never get

Got 21A pug mill stone on soft driveway. Still soft but not as spongy but hopefully will harden up with time. 60 tons of stone on a 84 sq yd driveway.

Finish up driveway today with 140 tons of asphalt that we started Tuesday that we dug up old asphalt installed 242 tons of 21A. Hopefully a good way to end the week

It's Friday!
but then you knew that.
Food shopping first, then lawn to mow.
Drying out here so it will be dusty.
After mowing, will shower the load of pollen and dust off me and then go work in the a/c woodshop. Mid afternoon it's mighty sticky out these days.

Today I make sawdust; think someone asked for that...;) taking a belt sander to all the shop countertops and then will
sand all the edges. And then I might start installing things like the grinder which needs to be bolted down, and the vise, etc. Sure going to ponder before I drill those holes... Carpenters finished up yesterday, put the ceiling insulation in, rehung the old tack room door so it would actually shut well enough to keep the bugs out, and then I installed the door hardware.

I almost did something seriously stupid. Bought a self latching door latch for the outside and got half way to the check out counter when I realized, uh, stupid, if it latches behind you, how are you going to get out? Non self latching hardware worked just fine. I could just see me calling my neighbor and asking him to come let me out of my barn after I locked myself in. That would be good for a laugh...

Little fridge in the woodshop now stocked with Yuengling and Miller, plus water and soda. Let the sawdust begin. Beer actually is for neighbors/friends. I drink very little; one beer bloats me though that first ice cold one sure hits the spot.
But then again so does iced tea and I don't feel sleepy afterwards.

Drew, nice touch with the glass sea shell lamp. But on a work bench?
Ron, not to worry. That's my hand work area and that silly lamp has been in my woodshop for 20 years. The shells turned out to be painted and not overly natural so it never made the cut to a nicer spot....I figure if I haven't broken the thing in 20 years it's safe now. Hah. Actually it hogs up too much room there but likely it has taken up permanent residence.

68 out this AM. t-Storms missed us again last night. Stopped about 2 miles north of us. Ground is seriously parched. Lawn is looking like mid-summer form.

A/C is a total replacement. Expect a new unit next week. Sigh. Really did not expect that. Will hang around the pool more and stay over there for a few days until the weather cools.

Not much going on now, started a new burn pile.

Be safe all and have a great w/e.

64 heading to 87.

Finally got a pop-up t-storm yesterday. Just formed right over us and sat still long enough to rain .40 before giving it up. Just what we needed.

Drew, your shop looks nice enough to be locked in for a while...at least until the fridge is empty. :)

Morning all, 61F heading to 84F. Working all weekend so I will not get much done around the house other than mowing the lawn. Sprayed the wild carrot last night with roundup as the 2-4-D wouldn't touch it, may have some bare spot in the lawn after this.

63F and mostly sunny @ 06:45 ... heading up to high of 80F, supposed to be less humid today ... see a bunch of storms to the south and west, over near Dayton and I-75... hopefully they'll stay away for a few days.

Did a little modification work on the water buffalo yesterday - moved the valve from the end of the hose back to the 55 gallon barrel ... which will allow the hose to empty every time the valve is closed ... also eliminates some weight from the end of the hose by the valve and some of the various fittings not being there. It should be ready to go now, when the dry weather hits.

Spent a good bit of time looking for the plastic plate that covers the hole in the deck on Lawnboy when the bagger is removed since the Simplicity is out of commission ... no luck ...

Plan was to cut the grass around the house with the plate installed, let it dry in the sun, and then pick it up with the bagger installed.

There was a place on the pegboard in the garage that it was kept right next to the leaf shredder screens for the deck ... hard to imagine where it could have gotten off to ... The 'Cake says we were trying to find it before and it's been MIA for a long time ... seems her memory is a little better than mine ...

The woman just informed me that we really need the Simplicity back in operation ... so repairs are authorized :D

Cleaned out the wand on one of the hand pump sprayers yesterday and then sprayed whatever herbicide was in it on the driveway weeds. Was a little unsure about what was in there ... no doubt it was drained from the tank on the Fimco last year ... but not sure whether it was Roundup or Trimec ... and I sure didn't want to spray the Trimec anywhere near planting beds. Fortunately, since I put that stuff in that sprayer I've started to store it whatever tank residue comes out of the Fimco in jugs that clearly labeled. Will use up whatever Roundup premix I have, probably around a gallon or so, to get some areas, that are planting beds to be, treated, so they can be planted.

Managed to do a little weeding yesterday over by the west end planting beds ... they sure pull up when the ground is moist :D

Very little washout on the area I filled in where the retaining wall was removed. With it not being compacted, the soil apparently soaked up the rain like a sponge. Hafta see if it's dry enough today to run the tractor over it and compact it.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive day.

RS, we like hosta's. Easy to maintain and transplant.
Yup ... good stuff ... they make for great edging along beds and other areas

... RS, how about one of those old fashioned cup oilers right over the chain so you don't need permalube...
Oil Hole Cups and Covers | GITS Manufacturing
that way you could wear your striped train hat and overalls and carry the big oil can with you...:D
LOL ... yeah ...

I think I'm gonna see if I can find a little better price than McMaster's on the self-lubricating chain ... already have plenty enough maintenance work that I probably won't be able to escape :D

Sounds like the violets I've got here ... spray 'em with Trimec and they just laugh at ya ... dang things are all over the place ... I think my Mom planted them ... and they have spread far and wide.

BTW - great job on the deck - looks fantastic !
