A dark morning here, with a mist that is wetting anything facing south. This is the second consecutive year with an abundance of fruits and seeds along the hedgerows. Not many other signs of autumn yet, apart from being deserted by the swallows. Scarcely a leaf has left a tree, they are still dark green and show little intention of falling at the moment. Can't be long now though, last night we had a little fire in the woodburner. It wasn't really all that cold, just sufficient to justify striking a match to enjoy that cosy warm glow as the nights draw in.

Drew, a cat or dog would make a great companion. Honest, after you have done it a few times, picking dog poop up is not an issue if it's on the right diet. Easier with a smaller breed. You can soon train them to poop where you want. A dog would love to go on vacation with you in the trailer.
If you like unexpected presents, cats will generally bring in far more than a dog. Yes, a cat sorts out it's own poops, but it does them wherever it wants. Your raised beds would be ideal :).

65 going to 72. Autumn is waking up after 88 yesterday.

Used the 3pt rake to do some erosion repair on a food plot, then picked up rocks and tilled and planted it. About 3 hours seat time. now need a soft rain.

Then met my wife (coming home from North Carolina) at the Classic Car show over near the interstate. Was going to post some pix, but our internet is molasses slow today.

Drew, it was nice having a dog as company while my wife was gone for a few days. Have had and loved many cats and they are interesting and fun at times, but have varied as far as affection, except they all loved themselves. Just my opinion, but I'd rather shovel dog poop from the yard than clean out litter boxes. Either way, a pet is great for the soul.

66 high of 83 before changes in the weather bring cool and damp weather into our forecast most of next week in 70s for highs 50s for lows. Sale of house on Monday then life is normal again with work our only concern. Very busy fall season upcoming I think.

Weather wise the first part of October could be very interesting and will set the stage for our winter weather. The gulf coast and East coast from Florida to North Carolina should be watching very closely as well as the the Mid West as there are lots of systems in play that if they all come together it could be very destructive in terms of wind rain storms and tropical systems. Lots of potential systems if they all come together.

This will set the stage for our winter and if it all happens then a clearer picture of our upcoming winter unfolds. But as with most everything nothing is set in stone and it becomes a wait and see proposition

One job to look at today then some shrubs need my attention

No real signs of fall here either the only leaves falling are poplar and dogwood probably from the heat and extremely dry conditions that started in August and have been relentless. The applachain mountains are normally extremely colorful in the fall peaking mid October or so. Fall must be coming because the stink bugs have made themselves known and are trying their best to get in the house

Drinking first cup of coffee. 48° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 72° with mostly sunny skies. Taking a trip to Port Huron today to visit family. Maples on fence line are starting to turn red.
Drew, our Shih Zsu has been a great dog. I know, not a mans dog. But a great companion. Likes outdoors if you are there. Leaves small droppings out away from house. Never the same place twice. Likes to travel. But does require monthly hair grooming. Son taught their Shih Zsu to ring a bell at back door when it wanted outside. Wife is allergic to cats. Many cats have problems with traveling in a car/truck.
Good Morning All.

Ed glad you made it home safe 81 is not for the weak at heart did not used to be that way but is now

At one time 81 between 64 and 66 was the busiest rural interstate in the east. That has been a while but it is not getting better. Ed
