Good evening all. 44F this morning overcast with light wind. Temps held even or dropped during the day, rain began 1PM. This morning built last "small" fire to cure paint in the stove, and finished the wood splitting and put new camo tarp over firewood. This afternoon wife and I went to town to run errands, which included new hardware to remount mantle, updated from flip to smart phone :ashamed: :D and dinner with wife  Had a small fire in insert tonight, warmed the living room very nicely :)

Wife made it home with meat safely.. Daughter met her in town and they had dinner, wife brought me some home... mmm-good, without the hassle of going out...

Weather people are going crazy, boring weekend and then the next storm comes in Tuesday with warm temps and rain. Massive flooding and doom predicted.

Belated happy birthday to both Lynns :drink:

Buppies, good luck with your surgeries, prayers sent!

Drew always enjoy hearing about your adventures :2cents:

RNG what is the max lake level there at Oroville lake? The website showed the current level @ 850 msl. Hope you are as happy with Internet down the road ad you are now.

Don, sorry about your no day :yuck:

PJ hope you get the termite issue sorted and remodel finished

Tech replaced the batteries in the LR fireplace and the thermocouple and thermopile in the master suite. Forgot that the LR unit even had batteries, lasted 10 years. Piece of the service call covered both units so not so bad, $145 and both units now working. Of course the temps will stay up, but hey, ambiance :)

Wife and I treated selves to the seafood buffet at one of the local hotels. Gosh, I remember complaining when it was $26 each and now it's $46. Wife says it's not so bad when she thinks of it feeding 4. She talks the meat carver into giving her the fat trimmings from the roast beef for our boxers. She gets enough to feed the 2 of them twice. More than I like to spend but a good time in a great setting with the person I like most to be with. Totally worth it :)

Drew
Sounds like fun.
Back in the 90's wife and I went to the Miami boat show. Spent a couple days wandering around in awe. Parents had a 17ft fiberglass runabout with a 45 horse Merc when I was growing up, quite a difference.

All those who enjoy playing in the snow would be disappointed if they lived here. Rain clouds came over in the night and removed all trace of it ever being below freezing.

This came yesterday, all the way from the USA.
Granberg.jpg

As a concession to my aging right shoulder, which does not share the pleasure the rest of me gets from hand filing, this little Granberg motorised jig is going to take over most of the chain sharpening from now on.

RNG, sounds like the lashing you took a few days ago has helped the push to get a better internet connection. Fewer $ for more zero's and one's - a digital case of the old saying "It's an ill wind that does nobody no good"

Drew, helping someone else buy a boat must be as good as it gets for someone who enjoys all things that float. Did you leave your own cheque book at home, or are you relying on willpower to avoid temptation ? :)

This 36 degree rain is supposed to turn to sleet this morning. Today and tonight in the 30s.

Buppies, sorry to hear about the ear.

Drew, looks like the way folks fly down I-95 up here is just practice for the real thing in Miami.

David, nice way to think about and better enjoy your meal with your wife.

Eric, is there room on your pillow for that tool, too? Please let me know how it performs. I'm still using a 30 year old clamp-on file guide, which seems to do an adequate job, but sometimes I think about alternatives.

73 degrees in Ft Lauderdale going up to only 75 today in overcast weather. Always a sprinkle possible around here.
Going to chill this morning, then head over to my friends where we will wash my truck in his driveway and then go pick up some furniture at Costco they want but have no way to get home. Then dinner out locally.

no more boats for me, but the boat itch is still there....

3 degrees right now...high in the mid-20's and clear.

Got a couple minor chores this morning...drop a package (returned purchase) off at the post office, haircut and get a battery for the Honda CRV this morning. I also have to run down the Deere dealer to purchase a pin that came out of the tractor's FEL linkage. Not sure how that happened, but I'm sure I'll find it when the snow melts.
This afternoon, I've got to pull the cylinder that actuates the bucket curl/dump function. When the pin (described above) came out, the cylinder rod retracted and won't move when I move the joystick. The Deere service guy thinks it's an internal leak. I have no idea how long the cylinder has been bad...I guess the other cylinder has been doing all the work for some time.

10 degrees here going up to 30. For the first time in 25 years I have no snow in my yard in January. Very odd. I usually have snow until late May.
Next week is supposed to be warm also.

Hope cylinder didn't get bent up.

Thanks for thinking of me, but my barn stuff runneth over already. How did you end up with it?

My brother was a collector of stuff and has stuff in the old house that needs to go. Also available soon are about 50 hand turn drills and an old cotton scale ( he got out of a warehouse floor). There are about 20 boxes his son and wife need to go through. I have no idea what his plans were for the "stuff" but if he found a "deal" he could not resist buying it.

I think that is why he never bought any land. He was always looking for a place to buy and I found several "fair" deals but he was always looking for the exceptional deal.

Good morning. Well I survived another Friday the 13th without any mishaps.
Temp is -8F and we are looking for a high of 21. Winds out of the west at 12 gusting to 25.
There is a 60% chance of flurries this morning. Flurries, I have seen it snow 24" and the weather man calls it 'flurries'.

33 out here, every type of precip except hail is coming down. LOL. Rather it be wet than slick or ice.

Have a great day all, be safe.

Love the travel report from daugen. I see those types of cars in my dreams.

I had a few nice cars and trucks in my life, but without a real conditioned garage, I just don't see that happening again. And the garage is off the table, don't think it is worth adding anything to the property anymore. I'll never get the money out. Which is another interesting topic, when does one stop investing in your home?

First cup of coffee has been poured. 60° with some rain this morning. Heading to 66° with periods of rain. Winter weather has hit the AZ desert. Looks like it's going to be at least a week of cool temperatures and some rain. Help wife with house cleaning is about all there is my list today.
David S, taking wife out to a good dinner. I have put it on my to do list.
Drew, love to look at big boats. Do not need to worry about buying one out here in the desert. :D
Roy, hope cylinder only needs seals and rings. Even that will not be a cheap repair.
Don, when offering stuff for free you need to throw something in that makes it worth traveling to pick it up.:D
Good Morning All.

RNG, there's probably a Cali law against it, but have you considered getting some hybrid grass seed that is drought tolerant and throwing a little out? I planted a type of bermuda grass in my lawn, but there are better more expensive grasses out there. Give it time and it should creep and fill.

I stopped watering the 20'x30' lawn in the back yard three years ago, but haven't yet dug the sprinkler heads up and converted it over to decomposed granite and a shrub or two like the rest of the back, front and side yards. But this is the year, when it stops raining long enough. I don't have much of a green thumb, and the less growing the better for all concerned.
