...I also have to run down the Deere dealer to purchase a pin that came out of the tractor's FEL linkage. Not sure how that happened, but I'm sure I'll find it when the snow melts.

I did find half the pin this morning while installing the Honda's battery...
The pin had cracked at the cross pin hole (the hole the grease flows through) and finally broken. My guess is it took several hundred hours for this to finally propagate enough to fail.

The replacement pin (and nut) cost about 50 bucks...

Don, when offering stuff for free you need to throw something in that makes it worth traveling to pick it up.:D

That was the price delivered . . . and I wasn't budging.:confused3:

Today was round up day. It went fairly smoothly except for one rowdy young bull that crashed a gate and made me jump on the fence. . . . but then what good is a round up with out a little excitement. It was foggy all day so we went to Sun City. It was foggy there also.

I'm going to inspect my Kubota loader in the morning. I put a lot of use on that thing.

Good evening all. 34F this morning, overcast and fog, and calm. Temps soared to 40F, fog lifted for a few hours late morning, but returned this afternoon. Today was putter day, played with insert, was going to ride but too foggy, cold, and wet.

Eric, is there room on your pillow for that tool, too? Please let me know how it performs. I'm still using a 30 year old clamp-on file guide, which seems to do an adequate job, but sometimes I think about alternatives.

Will let you know how it goes.

All my chainsaw gear lives in the barn right next to the K32 grease gun (Half of the gun sleeps inside a cardboard tube that once contained Glenfiddich whisky). I dare not risk a photo session with the newcomer on my pillow in case K32 finds out and gets jealous, with sharpener then coming to a sticky end. :)

Good morning all. Wet here and forecast of rain all day long.

Free things ? I often seem to get them when someone has something too good to throw away - but not good enough to keep. :)

A while back I was given a hay rack that is made to hang on top of a pen wall or a gate. That makes the rack too high for smaller sheep, so yesterday afternoon I decided to make a stand for it, re-using part of a short gate that came out of the old bull pen. It was a great excuse to start to learn how to stick weld round tubing, although the rain arrived earlier than expected and now I will have to find something else to play with for today.

15 right now...high in the mid to upper 20's today.

Didn't have time to pull the bucket cylinder yesterday, so that's the plan today. I hope it pulls fairly easily...

37 to 47 and damp...chance of rain each day here, too.

But, got lots of paperwork and inside cleaning/organizing to do.

Ever since a little kid, have been somewhat of a Green Bay fan, so will cheer them on at 4pm.

discovered my county has a solar co-op, taking members till end of feb. They took bids on solar installs, and everyone in the co-op gets same price. I got an estimated cost from them for 5K and 9k system, that they ask we don't share. They are going to give me a firm quote. They offer 3 different panel types, Peimar 270w and 300w, solarworld 300w, and LG 320w. They use solaredge inverters and optimizers. They will do ground install for around .50 per W. all prices is before incentives.

So I went online to Wholesalesolar, and found I can get self install kit for about half of the co-op installed price. I asked them for a quote.

I average almost 2100 KWH per month, or 68 kwh per day, so not sure the payback is there.

I have a monitoring system on my geothermal systems, so I know how long they run per day per stage. I took geo current readings today, both low and high, also took load readings on water heater, pellet stove and washer / dryer. The big unknown is how long the water heater runs per day. I estimated 1 hr day for washer / dryer. In all these loads are around 90% of my electric usage, so it will be hard to reduce the usage without a cold house, and we keep it rather cool now.

Do you have a basement/cellar that you heat? The reason I ask is that we have one of these A. O. Smith Canadain the heated basement and our hydro bill didn't rise and we now leave the hot water tank on 24/7.

Poured first cup of coffee. 55° with overcast skies this morning. Heading to 57° with off and on showers. Nothing planned for today. Broke down and watched a football game yesterday. Today I may just watch the Decades TV Channel. Mission Impossible reruns all day.
Good Morning All.
