Good Morning!
+10 and going to a high of 41, wind ENE 3 mph. A nice calm spring like day. A good day for a dump run, then get some more snow relocated.

Drew diamond wheels will not work well on hardened tool steel. We used either AL2O3 wheels or borazon wheels. Diamonds get too hot and break down when used on steel. Diamonds work best on non-ferrous material.

hmmmm, this is what I bought:
Amazon.com: Lenox Tools 1972921 METALMAX Diamond Edge Cutoff Wheel, 4.5" x 7/8": Home Improvement
I couldn't find much on the AL203 but the borazon wheels started in the $300-500 range, gulp.
Any suggestions on something less expensive?
Most of my steel is not hardened but a couple of the pieces I'm working on take a real beating and the hardened steel
seems like the right stuff. Of course I could always use thicker non hardened steel too. Probably the toughest cut I have is across quarter inch hardened
steel for about four inches, on non hardened quarter inch for five inches.

is this what folks use a plasma cutter on?

Happy Sunday morning to all.
42 degrees here, not going up much today with possible rain coming in from the North.
I had hoped to plant those 25 hybrid willows today but will keep an eye on the rain too. Cold and wet
is not very motivating.

After hitting the ceiling fan, clearing the mantle off over the wood stove, knocking both of our coffee cups over, and nearly cutting my big toe off after a near brush with death involving her hair, it has been declared a no fly zone within the castle henceforth.

I would use a plasma cutter for that range of thicknesses, as it's much faster than using a cutoff wheel, which tends to wear out rapidly as the metal thickness increases. I seem to remember RS using zip discs (abrasive cutoff wheels) extensively when he was building his log splitter, or was it his grapple, and those were fairly thick sections. Harbor Freight sell a large number of inexpensive cutoff wheels that seem to work well enough for me. The thinner and coarser the grit the faster they cut. Much less expensive than a plasma outfit, and probably more appropriate when only occasional use is anticipated.

Got my pilot fixed. They had a list of things that needed fixed, but weren't pushy, even gave me a $50 coupon towards the cost.
Watching bball now. My bracket got busted with Villanova losing.
Got to around 50ー today, majority of snow now gone.

I think that game busted everybody's bracket.
