Jim, "tramped" the elliptical machine video track up to The Pinnacles in Coromandel Forest Park yesterday. Maybe that is closer to you on the North Island..

Never been there but the Pinnacles are about 50 miles North, as the crow flies. Google street view have done a few MTB tracks. Check out The Heaphy Track. Slow going stepping out in Street View.

69 wonderful less humid degrees! First time our forecast keeps us in the 80s in over 2 weeks, according to the nice weather lady on local TV.

Spent most of yesterday continuing to clean out our shed. Two pickup trucks loads of trash and cheap/free very old shelving that had rusted out or had particle board failure...too humid here to ever have particle board outside in non conditioned area. I have been determined to throw out most of the piece parts and scraps I have been keeping just in case I need it for a jerry-rigged project or repair. I don't know if it counts as seat time, but I used a Kubota shop vac to do the dirty work. First shop vac I've owned and I was impressed, especially compared to using the old 1950s house vac that had been left behind when we bought our first house, or a broom and dustpan. Also gathered up some decent items to donate to Goodwill.

Since we had out first real shower in 18 days Sunday night, took advantage of the damp ground to mow around the house and chop the seed stalks down.

Eric, your wife just doesn't understand that YOU are a wasp pro, but with different methods. One of my favorite methods of dealing with wasps is to watch them build their nest, and let the first freeze of October take care of them. Of course, if the nest is in a frequently used area, I smash it with a 2x2 pole.

Drew, toll booths can back up traffic so badly, that I guess the camera-tolling is a good idea...along with it saving toll-booth costs. But it does penalize those without EZ passes. Glad I rarely use a toll road, I think my EZ Pass got deactivated from non-use. This reminds me I need to contact them.

62F and overcast @ 07:30, calling for clearing later this afternoon and an eventual high of 77F for the day.

Started out yesterday by greasing the FEL then moving the pile of the most recent delivery of wood chips onto the compost pile ... looked like it was an arborvitae that they took out ... lots of green matter. Also got some ash rounds picked out of another chip pile that was recently delivered.

Moved some PT lumber and got it stacked up with the forks before I took the loader off. Also added a pile of branches that Zack left me to the burn pile.

Then I dropped the loader and the box blade and greased up the MMM and mowed the front yards. Managed to finish that without stopping. Towards the end it was actually getting kind of chilly ... I was in shorts and t-shirt and it was fairly windy. Caught a stray drop or two of rain but it never really got going.

Most everything here is green and the grass was pretty tall due the rain we've had lately ... will let the grass dry out some today, probably start picking it up tomorrow.

Winds are pretty much calm here at this point ... might be a good day to get some more Roundup spraying done.

I have a lot of briar vines, forget the name, the trees and every open space had them when we built here, it took a couple of years of spraying and using the tooth bar on the bucket pulling out clusters of them from the trees, when I see one it gets generic Roundup like product from the local Tractor Supply.
We have a lot of raspberries and multiflora rose here ... both end up growing where you don't want them. There's a potential side benefit to the raspberries of course, but the multiflora rose is pretty much worthless ... other than the blooms.

The diverted valve is a regular valve with a hole drilled and a linkage connected to a 12v door lock actuator. I'll take a pic sometime.

Good morning! Another hot day but maybe I can get a dust storm going with the "Z". Yesterday I had to change the blades after the first half of the summer mowing. The sand ground away about 1/2" of the blades.

Hope everything goes well for you.
Thanks.

So far it hasn't been too bad ... I just make sure I take my dose of Tylenol or Ibuprofen when I start feeling any discomfort at all and that seems to handle it.

I've been thinking of doing the same thing for while now. I've had problems with mine since I was a kid. Don't have many left.
It's an individual decision of course, but what the dental assistant told me, while we were waiting for the local to numb me up was: "You probably feel better generally, once they're out."

That jives with my previous experiences with having teeth pulled: a little bit of pain initially ... which is more than offset by the eventual relief.

The other aspect to problem teeth is there is a potential for them to cause heart valve problems. It appears that I've managed to avoid that thus far, so I figured why tempt fate ?

Hope you get the rain you're looking for.

/ Good morning!!!! #60,449
RS what are you replacing your teeth with implants or dentures?
Probably going to go with dentures ... at least initially.

I know there can be problems with mainly the bottom denture moving around, so might eventually go with implants to secure it.

We'll see how it goes.

Amazing that the sand chews up those mower blades like it does ...

Just to remind you it's not all hot everywhere out there. The other week I was riding here just a couple of days before this was taken
Awesome picture ...

... RS - sounds like quite an adventure - ouch.
Yeah ... in hindsight, probably one I should have worked a little harder to avoid ...

Hope your shoulder is doing well.

... RS pray that your mouth heals quick, step son just had some extracted from top, he is mostly healed now.
mg,

Thanks ... seems to be healing up reasonably well so far.

Had one of my stitches come halfway out (1 of 2 loops) yesterday afternoon ... had to trim that half off as it was kind of annoying, flopping around in my mouth.

74 this morning and headed to 90 today.

Off to town to get supplies and then back to catch cattle. Then maybe some bush hogging. Wife complained about snoring last night. Then I reminded her that I mowed yesterday. Guess it'll be a least a week before she gets any sleep. I really didn't sleep well either. Will have to take one day off and go get allergy shots. So that might help.

/ Good morning!!!! #60,454
... RS, just can't imagine going through your dental journey. Hope it all goes smoothly from here.
Billy,

It's probably not one anyone would want to take ... but if ya need to go, I wouldn't recommend putting it off.

Hope ya get all the rain you're looking for ...

/ Good morning!!!! #60,455
... RS, hate going to dentist. Hope yours mouth heals soon.
Ron,

Thanks.

I hate it as well. Usually no fun.

A distant cousin of mine used to be my dentist before he passed. Somehow, whenever he was working on me, he'd manage to catch my lips between my teeth and his hands ... and smash them ... usually repeatedly.

My best advice: look for a dentist with small hands ... and at least an inkling of empathy for the amount of pain they are inflicting.

Thanks.

How's that young man of yours ?

The oldest is still doing good. He has the want to to talk just not the ability we think. He's dropped some bombs on us. Looked at speech therapist and said dinosaur as she was holding a toy one he wanted. Told me "eat Doritos". Well guess what I did. Found the boy some Doritos. His babbling seems to be in a sentence form/structure but he just can't form the words consistently. So that's gotten him (and us) frustrated (don't know where to turn for more help he's too young for most programs in our area). We started some brushing and joint compression therapy with him. That seems to be helping as he's a pressure seeker. It calms him. He's doing a pretty good job with one step directions. Two steps and he looks at you like he's confused.

Youngest son is just ornery. So far. He'll be a year old next week. He looks up to his big brother. Big brother wishes he'd leave him alone.

The low was 57* this morning, yesterday high was 86*. Got up this morning to overcast skies and a lite shower. The forecast is for 50% of rain for the rest of the day.

I did finish moving the dirt for the level spot for front end loader and backhoe. Got the stove pipe cleaned out for next fall. And put some weed killer down around the house and out buildings.

Was going to work on a neighbors fence today but that may not happen. Not sure what I'll do, maybe play with the welder.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Good morning all, 73 now going to 84 and sunny. I went and picked up 3 bu of green beans and grabbed a few other things while I was out. Wife had almost finished shucking the corn and I will be cooking it soon. Got to get back to it. Have a great day. Ed

/ Good morning!!!! #60,459
CWB, what kind of welding are you doing?

surgeon said I'd be fine, resume normal activities.
Good. Though I'm sure not going to do that...pain is a wonderful guidance vehicle.
Off to mow roadsides in a/c and going to rig up some soft pad inside foam collar which i have not been
able to wear since operation.

Because my late wife was a nurse I have enough bandages and wraps and stuff I have no idea what to do with
in the bathroom closet ready for business. Might take that big roll of gauzy tape and wrap it around my neck a few times, and then
all over my head except for the eyes. Now that would cause an accident for sure from looky-lous as I mow in the tractor.
Martha: look at that poor man Frank
Frank: oh NO, he's a zombie
might save this for Halloween...:D

sorry, a little comic relief from escaping doctors successfully.
off to mow and then maybe some fence powerwashing. Slowly.

Rarely cross the bay, and then i pay cash. Course you only pay one direction, east bound i think.
My wife got one of those toll notices in the mail once. She didn't know she was on a toll road. The new toll lanes around here only do easy pass or they mail you the bill, no toll booths anymore. I hate them.

That way around the Tidewater area as well. I paid a toll on a road I've been using since the 1960's last time I passed through a Chesapeake, and didn't even know it became a toll road! I have to cross the bay to visit my son.
