Riptides, saw your barn was featured in the TBN monthly email article. Nice.

Don, glad Gray2 is back at it.

Wow, I'll have to go dig it up. The article. The barn has been on a side burner for a few years now. But the inside "offices" are all dressed out and the ceiling work continues. The ceiling is weird, long strips of oak, interlaced. With old nails, makes for serious shoulder and neck hurting. Hope to paint it at the end of summer.

Wash vehicles and farm equipment down today, bailed on the mowing. Maybe tomorrow.

Roy, impressive for the flail to cut that bamboo, that stuff is nasty.

Got my back field mowed. Now to relax with my choice beverage, lemonade.

Nice photos Roy and Wngsprd. I have to admit, I couldn't see it until pointed out and zoomed. Amazing.

Eric, you guys can come over here to get away from the rain. Bring your grandson to "finishing school"... :) My 7 year old would love to play minecraft with him.

Saturday, about 10 am I figured I'd hop on the bigger tractor and shred down some johnson grass in a few spot.
Walking up to it, I remembered it needed fuel and I was out of fuel. Also saw it had a flat front tire (slow leak). Went and got the portable air can and got the tire up to maybe 10 psi. Loaded up 4 diesel plastic jerry cans and 1 gas can in the Yukon to go fill em up.
On the way in, I decided to get some oil filters to change the oil in both tractors. $26
Then I went to Walmart to get some Shell Rotella T 2.5 gallons for $36.
Next, across the road to get diesel and gas. $43 and $27 respectively
Then, next door to McD's for a small burger. (I needed some fuel too) $4
Lifted and poured all 4 jugs of diesel up to nearly shoulder height in the sun to fill her up.
So I'm at over $135 spent , it's 1:30 pm, and I haven't cut a blade of grass yet....I finally almost get on the machine and there is a wasp nest with maybe 15 wasps on it under the canopy.
Go get the Raid flying insect killer (far and away the best stuff on the market). Kill the bees.
By this time it is HOT. Maybe 100F and not much breeze.
I drive over to the barn and fill the front tire to 20 psi.
Finally I get over to mow, and nearly get her stuck in the muck along the receding shoreline of the pond. I got it out and just decided I will stick to the original plan and cut the acre of johnson grass down. After that, I was beat and had to come in and have a snow cone. But not until after I put my diesel stained clothes in the washer.

All for about 2 acres of mowing...

Ready for cooler weather. Come on October.

Don good luck with the fish fry fundraiser!!!

Roy nice mower and lawn.

PJ aren't there places in STL area that put new glass on phones? Thought that was starting up when I moved out.

Toppop, hope all is going well with you. If you need all new siding, consider the newer stuff with insulation attached to it.
Made a huge difference in my old house in PA. No, insurance will only pay for the basic stuff, but the big cost is labor and they cover that.
If you are going to keep that house a long time, maybe you have an opportunity here to cut your utility costs down in the future. Makes house
much quieter too.

I always try to buy equipment where they have a service dept. Big box stores don't but it's a matter
of what is available locally for you. I'm sure the local JD dealer would love to sell you a ten grand zero turn.
A Kubota Commander is an interesting possibility...A simplicity will now offer Ferris style features due to same corporate parent.
Lot of competing machinery out there.

I'm lucky enough to have servicing dealers for 7-8 brands fairly close, multiples of some. Actually ran across a Kubota ZG20 with less than 50 hours, 10 years old, belonged to an old man. I like the shaft drive transmission and deck, tilting deck, ease of access to filters, etc... I'm going to d mo it Wednesd, probably buy it.

64 outside this AM. Highs upper 80's.
Mowing time on tap. When the sun comes up. Now it is time to move the horses around and make sure there is water in the field spots for them. Maybe get some gas before the morning crowd awakens. Lol.
Have a great day all. Be safe.
