Good morning!!!!

Good times and good people bring me back.

I feel like I know each of you quite well. This is really the only forum I frequent.

2+ inches of rain today. Yea! We needed it.

The trip to Canyon Lake included swimming and boating....oh, and eating. I bet I gained 4 lbs. Much fun had by all.

Getting busier at work again...a good thing.

I remember travelling up to Bird's birthday party in Denton. It was attended by many, hosted by his lovely daughter. So many good, hard working people. I took my wife and young kids. We were glad we went.

75 for today's high. But with 83% humidity it was miserable outside.

Took oldest son into ENT doctor for a checkup. He said that everything looked good and that our concerns were common ones here of late. He expressed some distrust in any and all local "quick care" type facilities. Evidently everyone with a sore or itching throat is being swabbed for strep and testing positive, even people without tonsils. They're relying too much on the test and not actually doing doctor work. He's telling his patients that if they get sick and have ear or throat symptoms to come see him, or their pediatrician or regular doctor and not stop at quick care.

Ed. We are in the process of getting a device like that for our son. He starts school next year and we're going to try and keep him in a regular classroom for as much of the day as possible. His preschool class is a regular classroom setting and he does fine in it. So we want to continue as long as he's able. If he needs to be pulled for individual attention and work then that's fine. But so far he's not far enough behind to us to justify a self contained classroom. His difficulty communicating and being non-verbal keeps him from showing what he knows. Teachers have expressed that they believe he understands most to all that they teach but he just can't repeat it back to verify. So hopefully getting him on a communication device will help. Give him a way to say what his words won't let him. And help get him the repetitions to help him speak. He's been trying to use his words more this summer but just gets over stimulated speaking and he's a one and done person. He'll say it once if you don't understand or catch it there is no repeat.

Been here almost 5 years. Only threads I frequent anymore is here on GM, Towing and Hauling Wrong, and the Haying sub forum. Sometimes I'll get into projects but not often. Very good group of folks here. Guess that's why I feel guilty if I miss a morning checkin. But I've had to cut my internet time.

Don. Good and bad news for your folks. At least you found a trustworthy tenant.

Drew. Looks like a smoky setup. Wood chips for me always meant a cold and slow fire. I like large logs with a low blue flame that will burn through a rain shower.

Good evening all. 74F at the start, .2 in in rain gauge, thunder fairly constant. The storms moved south before they dumped much rain here and the rain forecast has been pushed back to next week end. 85F for the high, dew point 70F, feels higher then that. Got the high spots in the lawn mowed, need to weed eat, and no bike ride, Social Security call for wife came in late.

70 outside this AM. Looks to be raining and supposed to be clearing when the sun comes up. Looks like a maintenance day on the equipment and a refuel day for gasoline cans. Thst means a run to the dump too so we can clean up a little.
Have a great day all. Be safe.

We are enjoying a few hours of light cloud before the darker stuff comes over towards lunchtime. I can almost guarantee it will be pouring down by late afternoon when I go to collect my new go-faster computer. Self-employed part time work is lasting a lot longer than I thought it would, so I decided to buy a floor standing PC to get things done a little quicker and quieter, particularly as the fan on my laptop screams "I'm too hot" each time I make the CPU work hard. The new one is a custom build from a computer business in town, they are just waiting for a fan which should arrive today.

I found a place called Caswell Plating and have been watching some of their videos, but frankly all the fiddling and expensive potions put me off the idea. I'd be very interested in what you come up with, if you feel like sharing!
I will certainly let you know if I find anything promising, though I have a feeling it may take quite a bit of experimenting yet. Not sure how long I will need to leave samples outside to check how well they resist corrosion, maybe I could use salt water to speed it up. I bet the Caswell kits will give way better results than what I am playing with for anyone wanting something shinny. I will be happy with something much more basic to plate larger parts at low cost, as they will only get painted over later - it takes a lot of thick paint to make my welds look anywhere near tidy

which eclipse Roy, the big one hasn't come yet.
wow, never saw so many macadamia nuts, of course what I've seen has been packaged like caviar and priced accordingly.
Supposedly one of the fattiest nuts, but oh so good.

some light rain out, will be on and off all day.

Farmer, I'm amazed you can join us as much as you do. Your days must be very long, like Buppies and others.

off to barber this morning, like the fact he opens at 7:30am.

One of the hidden good things about the sharing of experiences with autism and childhood/adult development is that those of us without kids like this learn what it is
like to deal with this situation, how challenging, and rewarding, it is for the parents, and why the next time a kid acts out in public, geez cut them some slack. We have no idea what
the parents are dealing with and there but for the Grace of God go us...

How we treat the weakest and most needy is a true indication of how civilized we are. And compassionate. This world could use a lot more compassion for sure.
